Nali (Berrie 13-124)

Profile

May 10, 2013

Berrie arrived Sunday May 5th after being transported from South Dakota where she was found as a stray who had recently had puppies that were nowhere to be found.

She has a fun personality and is high energy outside but listens and calms down quickly. She is around 18 months and weighs 56 lbs. Since she is still young there are still some mischievous puppy behaviors but she is a total love bug and wants to please.

Berrie will have her wellness check on Monday and her spay surgery in the next few weeks.

More updates soon!

Miss Berrie came through her spay surgery on Friday with flying colors. She moved pretty slow that evening and was pretty groggy but by Saturday was back to normal.

She has to have limited on leash activity for the next 7-10 days which will prove to be quite challenging as there is no doubt she thinks she is ready to retrieve tennis balls already.

Berrie has been very relaxed around the house and and I am starting to feel like I don't have to watch her every second.

Hope you enjoy the latest pictures of Beautiful Berrie.

I have had Berrie for a little over three weeks now and we are still learning but here is what I know so far.

  • She has an delightful and fun personality
  • Would retrieve tennis balls forever
  • Is extremely athletic and strong. (not an ounce of fat on this sweet girl)
  • Gets along with both big and small dogs. (we still are not sure on cats)
  • Is a great traveler once she figures out she can not sit in your lap or ride shotgun
  • Is almost house trained. (no accidents for one week)
  • Loves the company of another resident dog
  • Thinks she is a lap dog and will crawl in your lap for a nap if you are sitting. ( I struggle to resist this)
  • Would prefer to sleep with you but touching another dog is second best
  • Will counter surf (we are working on this) and get into some puppy mischief
  • LOVES the water (has a wonderful coat for a quick dry)
  • Loves people andis great with kids
  • Knows sit and stay. (stay is harder but we are getting there)
  • Has a fabulous nose and is constantly sniffing and searching
  • Had a hard time with self control at the lake with all those bird and animal sounds in the woods.
  • Usually walks OK on the leash unless she is having issues with the previous post
  • Would love a fenced yard but not mandatory
  • Stole my heart three weeks ago

Miss Berrie will be spayed on Friday May 31st and after a few days of recovery she will be ready for her forever home.

Miss Berrie had her well check on Monday and that went very well. Dr Becky thought she was the cutest girl!

Her weight was 53 lbs so we will increase her food by 1/2 cup per day to put a couple more pounds on. She has been on some medication for a ear infection and that is just about resolved.

The next thing on the agenda is getting her spayed. She is on the schedule for May 31st but will wait for the final word from MNSNAP when she is good to go with that after having pups.

As I mentinoned before she does have a lot of energy but settles down so nicely. We will continue to work on manners. She loves, loves , loves to retrieve balls and is as quick as lightening! Most of the time she brings it back and drops it at your feet. Berrie would love to sleep in your bed but I have made her sleep on a dog bed next to me and she is content and quiet all night.

There have been a few accidents in the house but none the last 3 days and I think it's because I am figuring out her cues for outside. She does not like the kennel but did well in the laundry room with 2 other dogs for 3 hours.

She is such a sweetheart and I am totally in love with her!
