Hi Everyone!! My name is Bennett and I turned 1 year old on March 10th. Foster mom says if you look in the dictionary under "golden retriever" the definition is going to say "Bennett!" Apparently I do everything a big, beautiful golden boy is supposed to. The leaning into you when you pet me is no problem. My paw automatically goes on you when I sit next to you and get petted. Sometimes I even sit on my butt and put 2 paws on you while you pet me. Retrieving is the easiest thing in the world... I may have a slight obsession with balls though. lol... foster mom has to tell me to "go lay down" now and then because I keep putting the ball in her lap to throw it or I like this game of dropping it under the end table and it might roll behind it farther than I can reach, so she has to keep getting it for me.
I am told over and over than I am doing GREAT for just turning 1 year old. My manners are good because I don't jump up on people when I meet them. Counter surfing is not something I even try even though I can see onto the counter with all 4 paws on the floor. I know how to sit, shake, come and stay with no problem. However, foster mom said I should go to obedience classes with my new family so I can bond with them and because she knows I would love it. I am potty trained :) Sometimes foster mom throws a treat in my kennel and I go in to get it while she runs to the store. I'm a good boy and don't make a sound. Matter of fact, I have not let out a single bark since being in my foster home. I am also easily corrected with a "no" if I do try to do something I maybe shouldn't.
Besides balls, I love water! Jumping into the bathtub to get a bath was no problem. I have even jumped in there now with no water in it. Summer can't come fast enough so I can go swimming. Car rides are a lot of fun too, but I lay down and don't really pay attention to where I am going. hmm.... maybe I should next time. I think foster mom is going to take me for a walk soon, so I have to wrap this up. You know I am only 1, so I do have energy that I need to burn off. Thankfully, I do walk really well and won't pull her down the street.
Ok, so I am a waitlist dog and will have to be offered the the applicants who have waited the longest for me first. I'm not too picky about my forever home. I just want a family that is going to give me lots of attention and spend time walking, running, and playing with me to get my energy out. I really like playing with other dogs, so if you have a young one for me I'd be in heaven, but I can be an only dog too. I don't growl at anything and would get along with kids great! Foster mom hasn't had me around cats, but I don't think I would mind them at all since I have such a good attitude on everything. My recall is good since I am a velcro boy, but if you have a fenced yard for me to run in, I would love it! Oh and I am 77 lbs and on the lean side, so I am sort of a large retriever.
Thank you to everyone who helped get me to my foster home! I was loved in my last home and am ready to find my next loving, forever family. Bye for now!
