Morgan is a gorgeous and friendly 9 year old purebred female Golden Retriever. Don’t let her age fool you; she has the looks and energy level of a much younger dog!

Morgan is such an easy and fun foster. She met resident Goldens Josie (4) and Bailey (12) without a problem. She definitely likes to be in the same room as us, but does not demand a lot of attention. We learned very quickly to spell the word W A L K when we are getting ready to W A L K because as soon as Morgan hears the word W A L K she twirls and tells you how excited she is. She is adorable and is so smart!

Josie, Morgan, and Bailey

Morgan is very well trained. She comes up to us and gives us a little “woof” when she needs to go out. She is very quick about taking care of business while on her leash. She knows sit pretty, sit and shake, lie down, roll over, and can flip and catch a treat off of her nose. She walks nicely with a flat collar and has pretty good recall. A fenced yard is probably not necessary as long as her people are diligent about keeping an eye on her as she loves to use her nose and can cover a lot of ground in a short period of time.

Sit Pretty

Morgan is up to date on her vaccinations and weighed a perfect 64# at her RAGOM vet visit. She has suffered seizures since she was one but from what we were told her seizures are very well managed with phenobarbital. Blood was drawn at her vet appointment and her phenobarbital levels are right where they should be. She hasn't had any seizures in the week she's been with us.

Morgan does need to have a dead tooth removed. While under anesthesia the vet will also be removing a cyst located on the back of her neck. Her surgery is scheduled for 3/21/13. Morgan will not be ready for adoption until after her surgery but if you would like to learn more about this little sweetheart please contact your placement advisor.

Many of our friends and family think we are nuts for fostering. They know bringing a new dog into our home means extra trips to the vet, more hair and muddy paw prints around the house, and schedules juggled to accommodate leaving three dogs at home for a full work day. After a few days we usually have the vet trips behind us and have a good start making sure the dogs are relaxed and comfortable while we’re at work. It warms our hearts to watch a foster dog settle into our pack and routine.

Even more heartwarming is watching a foster dog meet their forever family. When Morgan met her family the first time, it was so endearing to watch her equally distribute her attention between her foster family and the visiting family. However, when her family came the second time to take her home it was obvious Morgan knew she belonged with them. As we filled out the paperwork she went strictly to them for attention, and hopped right into their car without looking back when it was time to leave.

We know Morgan has a fabulous life in front of her. Her new family has a schedule where she won’t be home alone for a full work day. Even though Morgan gets along fine with other dogs, people are her favorite and she will now bask in attention as an only dog. Her family lives on 20 acres and loves to spend time enjoying the outdoors, oooooh is Morgan going to love this! So no, we don’t think we are nuts for fostering. We feel very blessed to be part of Morgan’s story. Have fun Morgie-girl, we will miss you but are so happy for you!

It takes resident Josie a few days to feel comfortable sharing her toys with new foster siblings so we always put the toy bucket away when new fosters arrive. Josie is sleeping in this morning so I pulled the toy bucket out for Morgan. Morgan pulled every toy out of the bucket and is now laying in the middle of everything in pure bliss. She is such a happy, easy to please girl!
