Hello Ragom Land!

I would like to introduce you to Bo! or Bo Bo as FM likes to call him :)

Bo is an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. He was surrendered to RAGOM from South Dakota. We are figuring Bo will be a year old in March. Bo came to our house last Satuday, he had never lived in a house previous to this, so we had some house manners to work on. He introduced to our pack just wonderfully! Instantly wanted to play with everyone! :) He spent the afternoon playing and learning the ropes of the house.

Bo is a very beautiful boy, as a young boy he does need to learn some manners, but he learns very quickly! During the day when we are at work he stays in a kennel. He doesn't care for it that much, but he is learning more and more everyday that it really isn't that bad. ;) The first few days took a little while for him to settle in and just relax for a bit, but now he is learning the routine of the house and doing great.

He just stares at the cats through the baby gate (the cats stay downstairs and have full run of the house at night). He has A LOT of energy. He is going to need a home that is willing to work with him on some obedience and is an active home. Older kids would be best, since he has so much energy it might be to overwhelming for younger kids.

I am pretty sure he has some of that herding instinct in him coming from the Aussie side :) He likes to try and herd FM once in awhile. ;) He will get into a garbage and pull tissue out if he can, so we don't leave bathroom doors open.

He also LOVES people. Loves to be with us whenever he is not playing. He is just happy all the time! He is going to be a great dog, with lots of potential.

Hi Bo Fans!

Just sending in a little update to let you know how our wonderful Bo Bo is doing :)

He is doing great! What more can I say? The only really "thing" with Bo is he does not really like loud noises and will try to run from them or just get away from them. Like if someone drops something. He gets better with that everyday and is gaining his confidence. He is more shy around men then women, especially in an open area, even with FD sometimes. He will run circles around them, but as soon as you are in the house he is their best friend. Leaning on them, getting pets :)

He is a quick learner. He knows to ring the bell to go outside, he knows come pretty well, leave it, and off. All things we work on daily. He also knows sit, and that he has to sit before he will get his food.

He just loves people, he is a big fuzzy love bug. He loves to try and cuddle. I say try, because it is comical when he tries to cuddle on the bed, he thinks he is a 30lb lap dog like the little dogs, so he tries to curl himself up to lay on top of you...haha :) But he is so cute when he does it, I just can't resist! If he is done playing with the other dogs, he is velcroed to my side. Likes to lean on me and look up just to see how I am doing. He loves to lay down in the bathroom while I am getting ready for work in the morning and lean against me. The blow dryer doesn't bug him at all. You can see in the picture that this is how he sometimes likes to lay :)

Keep looking for updates on Bo! I have a feeling you will be hearing some great news from FM soon! :)

Foster Mom has been bad and hasn't sent in an update on Bo in awhile! We have been so busy around here with snow storms every weekend and 20 other things going on, we just plain forgot!

Bo is doing great! He is house trained and goes and nudges the bell on the door when he has to go out :) He is a very smart dog. He learns things quickly and wants to please people and be with people.

We do notice (and it is getting better) that he doesn't like loud noises or quick sudden movements towards him. He will run away from them or just stand away from them. He is getting better with it though. He doesn't love when I vacuum. One of our resident Goldens loves when I vacuum her, so he sees me doing that and sees that it isn't so bad ;) If I have the vacuum on and just stand still, he will come up and sit by me, you can tell he is nervous, but he will relax. I will also shut the vacuum off and then put a treat on it and let him take the treat off the vacuum so he sees it isn't to bad :)

When he is outside we let him run around with the other dogs and play and he is now learning about playing fetch. If we didn't have so much snow in the yard, I think they would all enjoy it more ;) He has started to play with the Kongs a little bit more. It is pretty funny watching him throw them around. If he is outside and here's a loud noise or something suddenly spooks him, he may run for cover or run away from it. We say Bo "come" a couple of times and he will come back to us. I don't think he needs to be in a home with a fence, but it is something to be aware of. He really is a great and smart dog.

Bo knows that he has to sit before I will put his food dish down, the next step is to work on "wait" before he eats, but a little at a time ;) He knows "sit", "leave it" and "off". Since we usually have a service dog in the house that FM is training, we use the same commands for everyone. :) We work on some things with him daily, but he would still benefit from a good beginner obedience class,

Bo also needs a home with no cats. He is a little too obsessed with them. He should also have a home with kids probably 12 and older, as he might be a little overwhelming for younger kids, and nervous around them.

The picture I have sent with is when Bo took a nap with FM when she had a migraine, he was a such a good boy and help FM feel better. So I had to take a picture of it.

If you are interested in Bo, send a message to your placement advisor today! You don't want to miss out on Bo Bo! ;)
