Hi everyone this is Roark, or has he likes to be called Roooark. To sum it up, he is a gentle giant.
He is an 8 year old purebred Golden Retriever weighing in at 101 lbs. The vet suggested he could lose 11 lbs so we are taking many walks and eating a grain free food (to help prevent allergies.) Speaking of walks, he does really good. I don't have to put a Gentle Leader on him. If he pulls, he realizes it, and gives the leash some slack.
Roark was an indoor/outdoor dog. Not fully house trained, but I am doing crate training when I am gone. The number of accidents are getting fewer by the day.
I am proud to say that he CAN live with cats. I have 2, and the first day he came home, he did a sniff and walked away. I haven't seen him chase or cause havoc with them. Also at home, there are 2 younger Golden Retrievers. Roark gets along with them, but doesn't really interact or play with them. Maybe they are too wild for him!
Roark is pretty mellow and a total love bug. Always following me room to room, wanting a good scratch or a big hug from me. He doesn't appear to have any resource guarding over food or toys.
Roark has been around dogs his whole life, it would be best if he had another dog at his future home.
He has been around grandkids at his SO home without an issue.
A fence is not required for him, but it is preferred.
He is currently waiting to be neutered, but once neutered he'll be ready to go to his furever home.
