As of March 17, 2013 the RAGOM Board approved removing the physical fence requirement for adopters of puppy mill dogs. Instead, the foster family will determine whether their foster dog needs a fence to be kept safe.

Bella does NOT need a fence!

Bella still needs another medium-sized dog to give her support, no children under 10 and... a very loving forever family!

Please welcome Bella to a new life free of the commercial breeding business! She is about 6 years old but seems younger. Bella came from a puppy mill in SD about 10 days ago. She has acclimated pretty quickly from scared frozen girl to coming up for her share of pets and treats. She has met all dogs with ease and no snarls. She also met the neighbor boy-a teenager with little fear. She over came it quickly.
Never having been an indoor dog, all of the noises, smells and stairs are new to her. She has relaxed overall and they do not bother her. She knows the routine of the day. Bella likes to play and was the wrestling companion of my previous foster puppy Dorado. I am sure she misses him as my resident dogs are not nearly as fun!
Bella is struggling to learn that dogs potty outside. As of today, about half of the time the potty is outside. She will get it eventually! Like many puppy mill dogs, she loves to shred soft things. Well, maybe that is a dog thing not exclusive to puppy mills :). We have to keep the socks picked up or we find them with holes in them. A favorite!
Bella came to me in heat so will be spayed in a few weeks. Aside from ear infections she is very healthy and active. Since she came from a puppy mill, Bella will need a physical fence (prone to bolting when scared), no children under 10 (they scare her too) and another medium to large sized dog to teach her that life isn't so scary. Please stay tuned for more on Bella's new life!

Well, Bella Boo is one lucky girl! The woman that came to meet her fell in love. She also fell in love with Bella's foster brother, Max 12-380. And she decided to adopt both of them together!! So Bella will make a smoother transition to her new life with her buddy Max. I am so confident that Bella (now Brandy) is finally in her forever home. Her adopter lives out of state so Max and Bella are experiencing life on the road and in hotels. Terri says they ride wonderfully, do their business at rest stops and sleep peacefully in the hotels. I am so pleased that they are together!

Bella is wondering where in the world her new forever family is! I can't believe she is still with me! Bella hardly seems like a puppy mill Momma anymore. This weekend, we had 8 dogs spending the night Saturday night. She had a blast running with Diamond 13-042 and Fern 13-058! The picture isn't the greatest but Bella is the one back with ears and tail up flying to catch Diamond and Fern. The other picture is Bella and Fern exploring the yard.

Saturday, a lady came to meet Fern to adopt her, and Bella went immediately up to her to get some pets! I was so impressed with her improvements in socialization! I wish you could meet her. You would be impressed too!

Bella gives kisses to her sponsor, Friends of Flicka! Bella still loves her kennel and sleeps in it at night despite the door being open and the kennel being surrounded by dog beds. She has free roam during the day when we are at work. No accidents during a normal work day. Bella has not had an accident for weeks and is no longer chewing inappropriate items. I think she feels safe and at home here.Bella doesn't know yet that the perfect family is out there but hasn't found her yet.

Bella was finally spayed last week and has not had to wear the E collar at all. She leaves her stitches alone except to clean herself up a little. I am so pleased with her socialization and know that she will make someone a loving, loyal furry friend.

Bella is worth the drive to meet her!

Bella had her first meet-and-greet outing yesterday and she did great (at least once we got her into the store). I knew she'd be good with all of the people and other dogs, but not sure how she'd do with all the commotion. It didn't take her long to warm up to the event and she spent her time greeting all the other Goldens (she zeroed in immediately on Jewel 12-415 who she came into RAGOM with and seemed more at ease after seeing her) and of course, accepting all the loving from the people, many of whom could not believe she was actually around 6 years old - she is so petite that she looks a bit like a puppy.

We are baby siting Bella for her Foster Mom for just a couple weeks. She has been with us since last Saturday and she is doing great. Despite the situation she came to RAGOM from, this little girl is as sweet as they come and very loving. She also loves her toys - the first day here, she explored the house and gathered every single toy, bone, etc (she tried to throw in a few stray socks for good measure, but we managed to sort those out of the mix) in the house and piled them in her "space" she had chosen. For a week they have remained there - she willingly "loans" them out to the resident dogs, but does require them to be returned when they are done (not one has yet voluntarily brought one back to her, but she has no problem going to get it when she thinks it has been "checked out" long enough). She is truly such a perfect dog and will steal someone's heart soon. Bella will still need some training on going potty outside. She still has accidents if we are not watching her vigilantly. I haven't had a puppy in a while (my youngest resident is 4) and I kind of forgot the ins and outs of housetraining, so having Bella has been a re-learning experience for me also. She will get it with more consistent training and is already doing better.

If you are looking for a companion who will give all of her love unconditionally to you, then Bella may be the one. Everybody that meets her falls in love with her personality and it doesn't hurt that she is also drop dead gorgeous and very petite.

Bella had a big adventure this past weekend. We loaded up all the dogs and spent the weekend with a friend. Bella has met the friend and her dogs, but the home and yard were new to her. She acclimated quickly! She is a very brave girl. She is very nervous about getting into the car but rides very well! I think she will eventually jump into the car with the rest of the dogs.

Bella also went for several walks and got to run the golf course on a long lead. She had a blast! Like most dogs new to a leash, she wandered back and forth but got the hang of it towards the end. She doesn't pull on a flat collar. Bella had a little trouble with the right place to potty in this new place, but with regular outings the accidents decreased. She sometimes gets so distracted outside that she doesn't get her business done. So I have to be sure to give her plenty of time outside.

I am hoping to get her to an event soon because you really have to meet her to appreciate how petite and sweet she is. Totally loves to come for pets and snuggles!

Miss Bella is doing wonderfully! She has acclimated to the routine noises and activities indoors. She follows me everywhere expecting to be petted and loved up. Bella is a very sweet petite girl!

Bella loves, loves, loves to play with other dogs so a fur brother or sister that likes to play would be wonderful in her forever home. But she will also play with humans if the resident isn't an active player. We have had visiting dogs here and she was best friends with fellow RAGOM alum Moose for a long weekend. It was hard to get them to settle down!

Now we are dog sitting RAGOM alum Toby and they are both soaking wet from all the wrestling! Toby is 10 now and I swear he is going to have a heart attack. When they do settle down, they are laying snuggled together nibbling on each others ears. It is SO cute!

Finally taking a nap!

Bella knows the routine in the house and goes into her kennel ahead of our departure for work and when we all head to the bedroom for the night. Otherwise she has free roam when we are home. She needs to be crated or she will find things to chew and shred so it is good that she is comfortable there. She is also not 100% house trained yet but she keeps her crate clean. She is so busy outside that she doesn't always get her business done before coming back in. We are working on it and she is starting to learn 'go potty'.

If you have a confident resident dog, a fence and no kids under 10, you should take a look at my Bella.
