Happy New Year! My name is Allie and I am a 12 year old Golden Retriever senior sweetie!! I just arrived at my foster home last week to start my journey in hopes of being adopted by my future forever family. The travel to my foster home went well, so I can tell you that I definitely like to go for rides in the vehicle. It didn't take me long to adjust to the routines of my foster home, either. I have foster parents and a foster 10 year old in the house, who I get along with great! I am so glad they don't have another dog or a cat in the house, because I need to be the only pet in the house. I love to snuggle, play fetch, and go for walks. On walks, I can go for 20-30min. without any problems on a leash and it gives me time for chores, sniffing, making snow angels and eating snow (only the white stuff), too!!

My foster mom says that I am a very active senior Golden, but I still like my doggie naps thru the day and I sleep very well thru the night without any incidents. I get free roam of the house when everyone is home since I am housetrained and only play with my doggie toys...I leave all other things alone. When my foster parents are off to work or running errands, I do just fine in a confined area of house (their bedroom) with the door open (and babygated), curtains opened so I can look out, the radio on with nice music, and best of all my posturepedic mattress bed and my best friend "hedgehog"!! Sometimes, I even get to go shopping with them at Petsmart or just go with for a ride!

I have had past experience in obedience training, so I do know basic commands such as sit, stay, come, and shake for treats! I just had my vet visit last week and I behaved very well....the vet thought I was a very sweet girl! My current weight is 66.9lbs and the vet says I need to gain a little more weight! I say "more treats please...woof woof....just sayin!" I am currently being treated for an ear infection and I need more work on my tartar/plaque issue since I have dental disease grade 3 out of 4. So, my foster parents are trying to work on my "colgate smile". Otherwise, I am spayed, vaccines are UTD, heartworm and fecal negative, and am now microchipped!

I am looking forward to finding my forever home where I can share my Golden love and get alot of people love in return!! My foster parents will keep you updated on my foster experience!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ALLIE

NOVEMBER 3, 2014

As Allie's foster mom, I can truly say that it has been a complete pleasure and rewarding experience taking care of my "sweet Allie girl"! She taught me a lot about life, growing older, and will always be a hero in my eyes! She was very brave in her journey here on earth! She received and gave a lot of love and will hold a special place in my heart❤️. So to you Allie, mom is sending you a "thousand kisses" and "sweet golden" dreams....as I would tell her every night❤️.

Allie has gone to the Rainbow Bridge today to meet all the other "puppy Angels"....she took her precious stuffed hedgehog with her too!

There is a book titled "For Every Dog An Angel" written by Christine Davis and I would encourage you to read it! This is taken from that book that Allie and I would like to share with you........

"All dogs bring the gift of love to the world. In that way they are very much like angels. Dogs will share their love with anyone. They don't ask for anything in return. But if someone takes a moment to scratch a dog under the chin or tell a dog how special it is, you can be sure it's guardian angel is smiling!"

Allie's guardian angel is definitely smiling and watching her! A special thanks to RAGOM staff especially to Dayle S., Kim B., and those doing the dog updates! Also, a special thanks to people who donate/sponsor,volunteer, and foster these special angels. Your kindness and caring does not go unnoticed!

I LOVE YOU ALLIE,

MOM

It truly is a "golden" fall! And I have golden news......my blood pressure is stabilizing in the 140s with the help of 2 types of heart medications❤️. I want to give a huge "woof woof " to my sponsor and all the special people that have donated to RAGOM in my honor! It is because of people like you that the RAGOM Goldens get proper treatment so that we can live a healthy happy life while we wait for our forever family! I will keep you posted! Woof woof....Allie

Happy Autumn!! Just a few months closer to making snow angels!

I have been busy the over the last month in trying to get my blood pressure under control. That's right...it happens to doggies too! It is stuck around a systolic of 170-180s, so now I am on two different drugs that are for hypertension. And I am on a new kidney diet so that hopefully my kidneys can filter better instead of spilling protein.

My foster mom says I have been "hanging in there " and am a really good patient at the vet office! So, when I am not busy dealing with this, I like to hang out on the grass under the tree and take in the sweet smell of fall and get lots of attention from my neighbors.

Til next time......woof woof. :)

As summer comes to an end, all I can say is "When does the snow start falling?" I like the cold weather better than the heat! What better than sharing a Coca Cola with your best furry friend on a hot day.... Just sayin'! My foster mom found this bottle of Coke with my name on it and couldn't resist the photo!

A couple of my favorite things to do this summer was to go through the Starbucks drive-thru and have mom order me a puppicuno.....they're the best.... Thanks, Starbucks, for remembering us doggies!

And then we would go for walks in the park and just enjoy the sun and grass and try to look for golf balls since it borders a golf course!

Goodbye, summer...... Hello, Snow Angels! Woof woof!

Monday, August 4, 2014

OK......guess who just had a birthday?! Happy Birthday to ME..... "Miss Allie Girl" as my foster mom calls me or you can call me the birthday princess!! I am 14 years old and still doing great! What's my secret, you may ask.....lots of love from my peeps and yummy doggie treats!

Speaking of doggie treats...can we get these birthday doggie cookies out of the cute bag from my friends at LuLu and Luigi's and onto a plate?!

There we go.....those look yummy for my tummy! Oops....there they Go...... Going...... Gone!!!!! OK.... my mom only let me have one cookie today since she made me a steak for my birthday dinner too! OK... I didn't get the whole steak either.... I had to share with my mom! My mom says I am a very special "Golden girl"!

This was a great birthday!!! Lots of woof woof!

Happy summer, everyone! So, enough with the rain.....it's boring when it rains, so I catch up on my beauty rest then! But when the sun is out and there's a cool gentle breeze, then I am outside soaking it all in! My favorite place is under the tree in the shade, on the deck, or taking walks around the lake!!

I went in for my senior bloodwork early this summer and they found one of my liver enzymes very elevated. X-rays showed my liver is enlarged, so I had an ultrasound done and there seems to be a benign mass effect in my liver, so they are checking out the fine needle aspirate results from the liver. Spleen, kidneys, and gallbladder all look good, and no heart murmurs. They are checking out my adrenal glands, though, since they are a little on the outside of the normal size, so we will wait for those results.

My foster mom says I was very brave during my ultrasound and I was so happy she was there to hold and comfort me! And Dr. Ralph was super nice to me, too! Laying on my back on a cold exam table is nothing like my Golden Retriever rolls onto my back in the grass or on the carpet....just sayin'! Dr.Jamie, Dr. Larry, and my RAGOM friends have been taking very good care of me in keeping a close watch over me. I am currently being treated for Lymes too since my test was again positive this year, but this time, I have protein in my urine....yuk! My mom says I am a super trooper and I am doing great despite all of this.... Mom says my heart is very Golden!

I want to send a special thanks to Kirk and Beth for their support and special donation! Woof woof!! I will keep you posted! Have a golden summer!

Happy spring, everyone!

Thursday, March 27, 2014

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day! I love the smell of sweet flowers .... It's so nice to be loved by my foster parents!

Speaking of flowers.... Where is spring? Don't get me wrong... Love the snow, but wouldn't mind going for a swim in that lake either!

Here I am getting some fresh air while running errands with my foster mom! She says I am a good shopper!

Well, just hangin' out for now and doing great! Mom says we have to start walking more again when it warms up...got to keep the girlish curves you know... Woof woof!

Happy New Year, everyone! As you can see, Santa was very good to me, and he even gave me a special treat because I'm a RAGOM senior sweetie. :) Thanks, Santa! I also want to send a very special "woof woof" to a very special Golden named Hunter and his family... It means so much to me and my foster family for your generous gift! :)

My new toy Snoopy, as you can see, is one of my best pals... I call him "Snoop dog!"

Blizzard ? Did someone say lots of snow? Yeah.... More snow angels and more snow to eat... One of my favorite things to do! Too bad it wasn't chicken or beef flavored! Recently, I found a whole apple buried in the snow bank, but my foster mom wouldn't let me eat it. She said I could only have the ones from the fridge, but gave me a treat for being such a good hunter!

Til next time.... Everyone stay warm, and if you need a warm furry hug, adopt a snuggly RAGOM senior sweetie.....hint hint.... Woof woof!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone....Woof Woof !!

Monday, December 16, 2013

OK....so I am playing with my "chewie" and toys, and then my foster mom attempts to try and take a picture of the two of us on her phone! It's pretty funny, but I don't mind all of the attention! I am getting used to having my photos taken now... I used to be a little camera shy!

Wow....so glad it's snowing again! You can see I love to hunt for critters in the snow-covered ground and I get to make snow angels too! I even have a fleece jacket to wear when it's below zero.

Of course, with the holiday, come all the lights. So my foster mom tried to snap a photo at night by a big evergreen tree with lights, but as you can see, I have my attention elsewhere..... I think I heard Santa's reindeer!! I am pretty sure that I am on Santa's "nice" list! Maybe he will bring me my forever family..... And lots of doggie treats, too!! Better go hang my stocking! Will keep you posted! Woof woof! :)

To all of our cute "Golden pumpkins" out there .....Happy Halloween! Woof woof!

Friday, October 11, 2013

Hi everyone! Notice any resemblance ? Yeah, my foster mom REALLY loves Goldens, but this one's not as cute as I am!!

I have been enjoying the autumn days and love being outside on the deck, whether I am chewing my rawhide or just napping.

I am now being fostered in Burnsville. I have been meeting my new neighbors and they like to stop and say "hi" and pet me. I like that alot and will usually roll over and have them pet my belly!

Well, that's all for now! Time to go exploring new parks and walking paths... Got to keep in shape! Woof, woof!

Friday, August 30, 2013

It's official......I like being in the water and am a very good swimmer!! My foster parents took me to a Wisconsin cabin and I had a super fun time.

Here's a picture of me in the SUV with the best view....although that front seat business doesn't look so bad, either!

So, down on the beach I am preparing to go fetch the ball in the water....there I go.....YES, got it and bringing it back to my foster mom!! Nice fetch!

OK, so every few minutes I need a little break from the fetching game on the dock, but I was more than willing to get right back in!

Finally, a ride on the back of the boat! This is sooooo COOL! I wasn't scared at all once on the boat, but had my foster dad help me on and off, since I wasn't quite sure how this all worked. Maybe, I can get some more practice in...hint,hint,hint!!!

Well, these are my photos to share for now.....everyone have a great Labor Day Weekend!! Woof, Woof!!

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Hi everybody!! Oh, how the summer is flying. I have been busy with my peeps! Here I am patiently sitting and listening to jazz with my foster dad! Then here I am just being my cute self taking up all the pillows on the porch sofa....sorry, but a senior Golden girl just must have her beauty sleep!! I like having my "chewie" with me sometimes on the porch sofa, too! If you try to take it from me, I will not put up a fight, I am very much a lady about it!

Now, onto the best part of my summer......my 13th Birthday!! Here I am with my special birthday cookie that, yes, was made special just for me by LuLu & Luigi's!! Yummy to my tummy!!! And look at the size of the birthday cookie for my peeps in honor of my birthday...yes, they had to blow out the candles, but I got to make the wish. I wished to find my forever home!!! Then birthday presents.....yeah! Here I am being very good and opening one present at a time with my foster mom's help. Wow, a "chewie" that is supersized....now that's cool! I got a furry rabbit toy and a Vikings collar and matching leash, too! Getting ready for football season. GO VIKINGS!!!

So, winding down from all the birthday celebration, you can see that I have pretty much finished off the "super chewie!"

My foster parents are taking me to a lake this weekend to give this Golden girl her swimming skills a try. So, on my next update, you will hopefully get to see pictures of me in the lake.....can hardly wait! See you soon!

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Yeah for doggone lazy summer days! As you can see from my photos, one of my favorite places to hang out is on the screened porch, because then I can see what is going on outside and at the same time listen to all the birds and frogs sing their songs.

I also like to take walks by the water fountains and stop for a rest, which is a perfect photo opportunity, and I sometimes even stick my head down by the fountain in order to get a little taste, too.....slurp, slurp!

I don't mind a good belly scratch either! I'll tell you what I don't like though are the loud sounds of fireworks. WOW, I didn't know where to run to in the house when they started going off outside on the 4th of July, so I just hung really close to my foster mom till it was over. Funny though, I sleep right thru loud thunderstorms. Hmmmmm.....my foster parents say it is OK, because alot of other dogs don't like fireworks, either!

I am definitely a dog who prefers routines and cooler weather with this double coat of mine! I keep thinking when will I be able to make my "snow angels" again???? Til then, I guess I will have to settle for air conditioning! I hope everyone is having a great summer....I know I am!

Sunday, June 16, 2013

Happy Father's Day!! I am so lucky to have great foster parents and it's summertime and that means "grill time" with my Foster Dad. And what better than on Father's Day! Here I am on the deck acting as the food supervisor and test taster! Yummy!

Good news on my testing positive for Lymes' Disease. I have no current symptoms and urine test came back good, so I am doing really good now! But they have to keep a watch on me for any changes. I have had no other real exciting news or events going on, but am so happy that I can roll around in the fresh grass and drink water from the garden hose and water fountain. My Foster Mom tells me that I have to stay out of the bird fountain bath, though, because that is dirty water. I am a very good listener!

Happy summer to all and I will be in touch! I hope to go swimming in a lake soon! My foster parents want to see my swimming skills. Til next time....Woof, woof!

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Spring has finally sprung and I have to say that I just got the best present ever......I have a sponsor!!! I and my foster family want to say "thank you so much Martha" for your generous sponsorship in memory your dear Mollie. My foster parents tell me that I have the best of the best puppy angels watching over me and they are right!! I know that Mollie will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge to be with her best friend Martha again! Special "woof and licks" from Allie!!

With spring comes change and Woodbury's garage sale. I was a key greeter at the sale and got lots of attention, but was not impressed with the weather. My foster mom was happy to have me share in the company and I tried to keep her warm!

Spring also means that I get to be out on the screened porch and deck with my peeps and I get to watch and listen to all the geese and birds near the pond while playing with my toys! I also get to go to kid's soccer practices, as you can see it is a lot of work to do sideline cheering and it wears me out, so I just pause for a little doggie nap in the fresh grass.....oh, the smell of spring!!

Unfortunately, the other part of seasonal change comes tick season and this year the ticks were bad. I had a few on me that my peeps took care of and they check me daily. I had my heartworm test done yesterday at the vet where they also run a tick/ flea test with it and the vet just told my foster parents today that my heartworm test is negative, but that I tested positive for 2 tick borne diseases which are Lyme's and Anaplasma. The vet stated that as long as I do not show any signs/symptoms right now that there is no immediate cause for concern, but they recommend I get a couple more tests done in case I need to be treated with antibiotics. The good news is that I have no signs or symptoms at this time and am just being my beautiful sweet self. So, say a doggie prayer for me....I already know puppy angels are watching me!

P.S. The doggie treats are working....I now weigh a healthy 83lbs!! Will keep you posted....WOOF WOOF!

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Where oh where is spring and my adoptive family?!?!? With each passing day my foster family says I grow sweeter and sweeter and that I have adapted to my surroundings very well! Hedgehog and I just love being out on the snowy deck watching and listening to all the birds. The changing weather doesn't bother me, I even slept thru the thunder/lightning storm that we had recently.....no problems with this senior girl getting her beauty sleep!!

Then there's those dog-gone lazy days where being on the sofa inside suits me and hedgehog just fine. I know where all the "comfy" spots are!!

Here I am in the weeds.....notice how my beautiful fur coat creates a nice camouflage. My foster parents think I would've made a great hunting dog, because I have quite the "sniffer" and very attentive to the little "critters" out there!! Then sometimes I just take a break and catch the rays in whatever snow patch I can still find, but looks like there's more snow on the way tonite, so guess I will have more fun in the snow.

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Oh where oh where is spring?? I am trying to spend as much time on any patch of snow that's left to get my last snow angels in before it all melts!

Lately, I am excited to see the geese come back, but I take more interest in the little gopher I recently saw on one of my walks!!! I have been just hanging out with my peeps and enjoy playing fetch with my fuzzy ball, especially in the mornings after breakfast.

This weekend I joined in on my little peep's slumber party with his buddy....notice how I hogged the "Star Wars" pillow! Well, my pictures are worth a thousand words in what I've been up to. Still waiting for my forever home and family!

Monday, March 18, 2013

So, I am sitting in the park enjoying the sunny day and wondering "where are all the kids to play with me??" My foster mom and 10yr.old kid got me to try out the jungle gym stairs and bridge. I was very brave, but very cautious. They were very proud of me! My foster mom says I am a very smart golden girl, because when we go for our walks on the trails and we come upon patches of ice, I always know to walk along the edge where the snow is so I don't slip. I am so happy that I can still make my snow angels and eat the "white" snow and look forward to the snow storm coming to bring the fresh fluffy stuff!

What does a golden girl have to do to get a "doggie treat" around here? Just "sit and shake".....I can do that with no problem! I just bat my pretty brown eyes and give my foster parents that "aren't I so irresistible" look and the treat jar comes down from the cupboard.....well, most of the time it works! They keep a close watch on my caloric intake, since I am a senior golden you know!

And I love my senior naps through the day, especially when my foster dad lets me sleep on the soft cushy sofa, but most of the time I am very happy on the floor or my special doggie bed! Just an FYI.....I love to cuddle with my peeps!!

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a beautiful and lovely Valentine's Day! As you can see, my foster family thinks I am "Cute Stuff" and can hardly wait for my potential forever home to see just how cute I am!! Here is my Valentine's wish that I will find an adoptive family where I am the only dog, kids OK any age, but no cats please! I also will fit into any size home, yard or no yard, fence or no fence.....as long as I get my daily 20-30 min. walk and have my nice posturpedic bed for sleeping.....sofa snuggling preferred, too!! I like to be around my "peeps" and do well with routine, but can adapt as needed. I don't make a good guard dog though, because I greet strangers with a wagging tail. I am in good health for my age and everything is up-to-date! So.....won't you be my Valentine!?!?!

I have been busy this last week with the new snow and looking for that groundhog that said we were going to have an early spring....hope he's wrong because I love being outside and playing in the snow!

Guess I'll just have to go swimming in the lakes when all the snow melts...my foster mom heard that I like to do this, too! Have a great week! I heard that the Easter bunny comes next month....does he live at Petsmart?....LOL!!!

Monday, February 11, 2013

Hi everybody! Ok I went snowtubing with my foster family this weekend, but I did not get in the tube as much as my 10yr old foster kid wanted me, too....hahaha! I just watched and enjoyed all the extra attention I got from all the people there. I was well behaved and found a roasted marshmellow that no one else wanted, but my foster mom's hand was quick and got it out of my mouth before I could fully enjoy it....darn it anyway!! I actually am very good letting people near me if I have something in my mouth and they can take it and I will not growl....I am very nice about it!!

As you can see from my other photo that I find the kitchen to be an exceptional place to get attention. I like to sniff along the counter with my nose, so don't leave anything too close to the edge or I may just want to sample it!! But I usually just lay on the floor patiently and wait for something to drop!

My vet visit went well this past week. I am now 73.4lb, so I have gained some weight as the vet wanted me to. The vet also stated that she noticed how more calm and comfortable I seemed to be in my surroundings and that I looked really good. I am now getting a 1/2 tablet of Rimadyl with my meals to help with some joint stiffness, which seems to be working OK. I am a very active 12y.o. golden girl and love it when my mom and dad get on the floor and play with me...it's like romp a room!!

Finally, I went to Petsmart with my mom today and am totally infatuated with the chinchilla, hamsters, and guinea pigs!! I think they like me, too. One of them even came to the glass to say "hi"! It's probably a good thing they are behind glass....they look like they would be fun to chase!! My foster mom says we'll just stick to stuffed toys for now!

Sunday, February 3, 2013

Happy Superbowl Sunday!! First of all, I and my foster family would like to give a special "thank you" to Friends of Flicka for their generous donation!! Woof Woof!

I have had a pretty quiet week and now am starting to get free roam of the house while my foster family is out of the house and I have been a very good girl. There is alot of trust developing and comfort within my foster home. I am definitely adaptable to any given surrounding. I don't like it though when the refrigerator door makes beeping noise when it is left open too long, it makes my ears perk up.

This week I have a follow up visit with the vet to check my anal glands again and then we are going to see about maybe getting me some medicine (ie: NSAID's) to help with some of my joint stiffness when I first get up after napping for awhile. Trust me though, this does not have any impact on my ability to go for 20-30 min. walks!! Have a great week!

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Love the snow.....a picture is worth a thousand "woofs"!! My foster mom had to dress me up a little for an outdoor photo! But I didn't mind! I tend to get alot of mini snowballs in my front left paw when the snow is sticky fresh, so I have special muttluks that I can wear if I need to! I got to spend time outside today when my foster 10yr.old and foster dad went sledding. I was very good on my long tie out and enjoyed frolicking and laying in the snow!

But I was very happy to come back into my warm home and snuggle on my bed. I am usually ready for bed by 9:30p-10p and will sleep soundly thru the night. My foster parents are impressed how well I sleep thru the night. They say I have doggy snores sometimes!! When I get up in the morning around 8am, I go out for chores and then come in for some play time with my toys before breakfast. I even try to talk "doggy talk" with my foster family. They say it's really cute! I am a very good eater, but I do have a sensitive stomach, so tend to keep me on grain free products and treats! My new favorite thing to have with my evening dinner is a little bit of pumpkin mixed in....yum,yum!

Happy Sunday.....hope we get more snow....but don't tell my foster family I said that....they would rather be golfing!!

Happy Sunday! There's nothing like spending quality time with my best friend "Hedgehog" and my "chewie"!! Watching Sunday night football with the family. My 10 year old foster child had his friend over tonite and I didn't even bark when he came to the door and just wagged my tail welcoming the attention. I even went downstairs to play with the boys for awhile, but dinner was cooking and I got distracted. I like it when I get white rice with my food!!

I still like to go for walks, but not real long ones when it's very cold out. Just long enough to make my snow angels and do my chores. I am getting better when I see other dogs. I won't bark, but still am very interested as to which direction the other dog is going and how close it is to me! Not much else to report, just waiting for my lucky adoptive family! My foster parents and kid think that I am the sweetest girl and I give lots of love. Stay warm.....glad I have a doublecoat!! Woof, Woof!

Hi again! Just want to update you on how things are going with me so far in my new foster home. As you can see, I got a doggie bath after my ear infection cleared up. My foster family took me to the "Just Dogs" store in Woodbury and they had the coolest doggie bath there. I think my foster parents got almost as wet as I did trying to get my all squeaky clean!! I tolerated it pretty good, but was a little unsure of things at first. At least they had doggie treats there for me when it was all done!! I even let my foster mom clip my toenails, but that took some extra doggie treats, too!

My foster mom finally found a chewie that I will actually chew for my tartar/plaque that is peanut butter flavored, so she is happy about that and me, too! YumYum! I will even tolerate my teeth being brushed gently, too! I have adapted very well to my new routine and am a very happy go lucky sweet girl! I listen well and am very attentive to all the activites around me. This week I got to go with my foster dad to work and even got to greet some of the visitors and they really liked me!! For now, I am just taking it easy....waiting for more fluffy snow to play in!
