Last Sunday marked one week for Lexi in our home so she has pretty much settled in. Lexi is crate trained and "kennels up" on command. We've been crating her while we are at work, about 4-5 hours at a time. We typically go home for lunch so she gets a mid-day break. She pretty much has free roam when we are at home and sleeps on the floor in our bedroom all night without a peep.
Lexi was surrendered because she had some resource guarding issues. Essentially she tried to recover valued items (I think it was food or perhaps a favorite toy) from a young child (~1-2) which resulted in the child getting nipped. This happened several times so the family reluctantly decided to let RAGOM find her another home. Lexi respects authority. This means that she doesn't exhibit any resource issues with older children or adults. She and our alpha male Clifford (a big time toy hoarder) have not had any issues either. I would also expect that a 3-4+ year old child would not have any problems if they are taught not to try to take things away from her.
Lexi certainly fits into our pack well. She is obedient and loving. She is extremely alert and energetic but is easy controlled as she responds well to voice commands; sit, come, and stay. Some additional reinforcement with her commands is needed however.
This girl loves to retrieve!! A fenced yard (4 ft. or more) would be a big plus but she is currently living in a condo with no problems so it isn't necessary. A ball would adequately serve as a virtual leash. I would be comfortable taking Lexi outside without a leash as she stays right with you but of course RAGOM rules for foster families don't allow this. I should have told everyone that Lexi is up-to-date on shots, micro chipped and heartworm negative. This means that she is all ready to go to some very lucky home. We would love to tell you more about this lovable dog if you are the right kind of home for her.
