Kirby went on a home visit with me recently and he met up with a cat without any issue. His past papers indicated he lived with cats, since we don’t have cats it is hard to predict what he will do. He basically ignored the dog savvy cat. He was a perfect gentleman during the home visit especially after he got a rawhide bone!
They look so cute, but it took over 5 minutes to get them to all pose for this picture! Kirby had to bring his foot'ball' to the photo shoot!
Kirby and the boys have converted our living room into the wrestling mat. If no humans are in the room, then there is no wrestling match. As soon as we walk into the room, instant audience for the 3 wrestling dogs…tug of war, chase each other and tackle one another to get the ball or rope. They are full of antics and fun to watch when they play so hard. Sometimes, I see a tag-team approach…Chance climbs up in my lap to rest, then watches Tyson play with Kirby…until it is time to tag-team and they switch places wrestling with Kirby.
Kirby has a keen eye for the ball and will hover around Chance and Tyson wrestling until the ball pops out and Kirby retrieves the ball. The three have so much fun playing and rarely get on each other’s nerves.
We are back at the cabin this weekend and the boys run, run through the deep snow chasing the ball. Kirby and my boys just love being at the cabin, big happy faces. Tired puppies are such good puppies!
Kirby is ready for his forever home. He is stabilizing nicely in foster care. We are working with him on his reactions to visitors to the house and found it best if he is in the backyard when people come to the door. He is fine with repeat guests who come to the door. This will need to continue with his adoptive family, so he feels secure and doesn't think he has to protect himself, his people or whatever the reason he gets excited when visitors arrive. Contact your placement advisor to meet him, as we are not planning to attend any events with him.
