A new RAGOM golden has arrived! Tucker came into foster last week and boy did he have a busy first few days. He went to the vet on day two to get checked out and this big guy has some medical issues we are working to resolve ASAP. Tucker was neutered prior to his surrender so that is one thing we could check off the list right away. He is up to date on his vaccinations and we are working on a double ear infection that is going to be cleared up within the next week. I am sure it feels good to have that taken care of. Tucker also needs to lose about 15 pounds. He is 10 years old and weighs in at 89 pounds.

Tuckers two biggest obstacles right now are that he is heart worm positive and he is starting treatment for that tomorrow morning. He will also get an x ray to determine how advanced the heart worm is. Right now we are just keeping him calm and comfortable.

Tucker's other issue is that he has, what the vet thought was an old injury or shoulder separation on his front leg. He does walk with a limp. He will be getting checked out by an ortho surgeon on Monday the 23rd so we will have more information then.

He also does have some scars on his back. He was shaved down prior to his surrender so these wounds could heal up.

There will be some pretty expensive medical bills for this sweet boy, if you are interested please consider sponsoring him it would be so helpful and he has such a long way to go.

With all of these medical issues this big lug still has a golden heart. I have not even heard him bark once. He gives a little grunt when he gets his ears cleaned and leans into the massage. He has met his foster brother Jack with not one issue. He has also met his feline foster sister and barely even acknowledged her at all. Yesterday they actually touched noses. Very cute! He also likes to give foster brother Jack kisses every once in a while.

Tucker loves attention, just wants to be loved and petted. He will follow me around the house but since yesterday he has relaxed enough to know I will come back and waits patiently.

As Tucker goes through some pretty tough healing please keep your positives coming his way, this big guy deserves a lot of TLC.

Well I am excited to tell you this is Tucker’s last update. Tucker has a new family!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to G. and K.C. for opening their hearts and home to the sweetest boy ever. He now has a 15 acre backyard and from the photos we can see he has a wonderful, peaceful view and will be enjoying those summer swims on those lazy hot days. My heart is so happy for him. He also has a new canine brother. If any dog ever deserved it then sweet Tucker boy does.

We miss you but are SO happy for you!

Your foster family, Deb, Jack and Sachi

Tucker loves the water

Well, we are long overdue for a Tucker update. My apologies to his fans who have been watching his page. We are busy with springtime in our home now. Tucker loves to be outside with his foster brother. I noticed that he loves to lift his head up and sniff the breezes. He is such a peaceful, gentle boy.

Tucker is still hoping to find his forever home and eagerly waits to find the special people who will love him through his golden years.

Yesterday we went to the vet for routine vaccinations. I talked with his vet about some discharge he was having from one eye. She thought there may have been some debris that got into his eye, so we have some ointment for 10 days to take care of that. Other than that, he is doing so well. His coat has been coming in so nicely. Just a little bit left to grow on his shoulders.

Still handsome!

Tucker loves toys too.

Tucker ignores cats.

Well, Tucker boy is doing so well. He is such a sweet, loving pup. His heart is that of a puppy but in a big boy body. We are still working on getting his anxiety level down. He has had no further incidents except once when I had company and then left the house after that. I have put Tucker in his kennel for very short periods of time with his foster brother. That evening they were both doing fine until his foster brother got so excited that I believe that Tucker fed off of Jack’s excitement.

I know Tucker would love to have humans who are retired or work from home. He loves everyone, human, canine, feline he will just ignore. I think I may have seen him actually sniff his feline foster sister once in the last 6 months. I have all three of them in the back of the house, dining room area all day, free roam while I am at work.

Tucker and Jack have become pretty darn good buddies. When Tucker had an upset tummy one day, Jack laid on the floor right next to him, all day long. They will curl up back to back and snooze away.

I am attaching a photo of Tucker, on the kitchen rug, hanging out with foster mom while she bakes chocolate chip cookies. Interesting that Tucker has NEVER once begged for people food, not even once since he has been in our home.

The hair on Tucker’s back is really coming in nicely. He is such a handsome boy, he is also a gentleman, he waits for me to invite him into the house after potty breaks, waits for me to tell him it is ok to eat his chow and always does his “big business” far away from the sidewalk or walking path in the back yard. What more could a foster mom ask for???

Merry Christmas to the Golden Seniors! From Anonymous Merry Christmas to the Golden Seniors! From Anonymous

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Well Tucker is doing well.  He came through his first heart worm shot like a champ. The day after I stayed home with him, he was having a difficult time walking, poor boy was sore and still tired from the long day at the vet.

I took more photos of him this week.  He has lost just over 4 lbs and the vet said he was looking much better.  He also seems to be able to get around a bit easier.

As always, he is a treat to have around.  His fan base increased at the groomer's last week.  He was such good boy that the ladies gave him extra attention with a blueberry facial shampoo and a massage.  I was in the self serve bath area with him and lucky for Tucker there was a new employee training in as a bather.  Of course it did not take long and Tucker was rolling in the grass in the backyard.  Seems he really enjoys getting his back full of grass, leaves and a bit of dirt.  He enjoys it so much it makes me laugh.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts for Tucker as he is treated for his heart worm.
