Mollie 12-260

Profile

Hello RAGOM followers! We’d like you to meet Mollie! She was found as a stray in northern Minnesota. Mollie is a very lucky little girl. She was taken in and cared for by a Good Samaritan until coming into RAGOM. We were told that she is a Golden Retriever/Lab mix, but we (her foster family) do not see an ounce of GR in her. She looks to be almost all lab, but who knows for sure? She is a beautiful girl and LOVES to play fetch.

Mollie made the long trip from Roseau to the Twin Cities and she did great in the car. She is about 11 months old. Mollie is your typical puppy...always on the go and full of energy. Mollie has only been with us for a day so we will have more updates to follow as we get to know her a little better. She will be available for adoption after she visits our RAGOM vet and has her spay surgery. Please contact your placement supervisor if you would like to meet Mollie and watch the website for more updates soon!

Updates

Hello RAGOM fans! It’s time for another quick update about our pretty little girl Mollie! We are sorry for the delay in getting her page updated, Mollie’s foster mom is a teacher and has been super busy juggling the start of the school year and kids sports.

Mollie went to GOLDZILLA and had a blast meeting her fans and greeting her fellow RAGOM furry friends. Mollie was exhausted when we arrived home from all of the fresh air and new faces. She was excited and a bit overwhelmed with all of the attention but did pretty good considering it was her first experience with a large crowd.

Mollie continues to thrive in our foster home with the three kids and our resident yellow lab. She loves to play. Her favorite toy is by far the tennis ball, she can play fetch for hours on end. Mollie is learning to walk politely on the leash. She pulls at first because she is so excited to go for a walk but after a few blocks she settles down nicely.

She is 100% potty trained. She has only had two accidents in the house and that was when she first arrived. Mollie goes to our sliding patio door when she wants to go out. She comes back quickly after doing her business and will bark at the door to be let back inside.

Mollie is a people person! She LOVES to be near everyone and still follows us everywhere. We have expanded her boundaries and she has free roam of our main floor. She has even spent a few nights sleeping at the foot of our bed. She does get restless during the night and ends up going back into her crate in the early morning. She’s not quite ready to be outside of her crate the entire night.

Mollie knows a few tricks and commands. She is getting really good at “shake”, “high five”, “sit” and “down”. She is food motivated and we use small treats to reward her for a job well done.

Mollie and our resident love to play and wrestle with each other. Their play can become aggressive but they are having a great time. If it gets a little too loud or obnoxious, they will break it up with a quick whistle or command to stop. They also read each other's signals and will back off when the other pup wants to settle down. Mollie has met our neighbor dogs and does great. After a little sniffing and greeting, she wants to get right into playing.

Mollie does have a few behaviors that we are working on. She is very curious. She surfs the counters and will pull down and eat anything that is tasty! She has sampled toaster strudels, pizza and bread. We have to be very careful about keeping the counters clear of foods she may eat and we cannot keep our snacks unattended, She is quick! We do crate her during family meal times and she does well in her crate. If she is not crated she can be a pest and beg for table food.

Mollie does not chew inappropriate things but she will carry around a sock or stuffed animal. She has destroyed a couple dog toys. She can get mouthy during play with both humans and dogs. She is learning that a firm “no” command and a freeze of the action means to stop mouthing.

Mollie is a young pup and needs a forever home that will be committed to continuing her basic training. If you think that might be your home, please contact your placement advisor!

Mollie has settled into our family very nicely. She has calmed down now that she is familiar with our rituals and routines. Mollie is still in "puppy mode" and needs supervision but we have expanded her boundaries to have free roam of our main floor when we are home. She loves to be near for frequent pets and scratches and follows us around the house. She doesn't want to miss a thing!

Mollie continues to do well with our resident dog. Their favorite game to play is "keep away" with a ball. She initiates play with our buddy Skeeter and they have so much fun. They even follow each other around the house like best buds.

She is crated at night and when we are away. She is doing great with her training.....Mollie will be making an appearance at GOLDZILLA! If you are interested in meeting her, please contact your placement advisor.

Mollie has been with us for three weeks now and we have gotten to know her much better! One thing is for certain, Mollie is like the Energizer Bunny. She goes, goes, and then goes some more. She is very energetic and excitable. She loves to be in the middle of all the action and seeks attention from her people. Mollie is up-to-date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. She is ready to meet applicants! Mollie gets along well with kids and dogs. Our kids are 13,12 and 8 and she loves them. She also loves to interact with our resident dog and they play well together.

Mollie is looking for a family that will provide her with daily exercise. Mollie will benefit from frequent walks, runs and would prefer a large, fenced yard. She is still working on walking with the leash. She LOVES to play fetch with the tennis ball and “Chuck-It”. She could run and retrieve the ball for hours. She is SMART! Mollie knows simple commands like “Sit”, “Down”, “Come” and “Shake”.

Mollie is still a young puppy and needs constant supervision along with training. When she is bored, she will chew on shoes (my fault for not making sure they were out of reach) or stuffed animals. She is easily distracted with a proper chew toy or treat so we make sure her “toy box” is full of fun toys. If left unattended near food, she will investigate. Wouldn’t you? She will put her front paws on the table or counter to get a better look at what is there and take a few bites if it is yummy. She has responded well to a firm “NO!” or “Down!” but again needs supervision at all times. When we are not able to watch her, we put her in the crate and she does really well in there. She goes in nicely with a small treat and settles down.

Mollie is crated at night and when we are away from home. She goes to bed at 10 pm and we do not hear a peep until everyone wakes up! She is happy to see us and full of energy in the morning. It would be best if she is exercised first thing in the morning before spending time in the crate if her forever family will gone long hours during the work day.

Molly is potty trained. She goes to our sliding glass doors to let us know when she needs to go out. She did have one accident in the house the first few hours she was in our home but now she knows the routine.

If you think Mollie is a good fit for your family, please contact your placement advisor!
