Roxie 12-246

Profile

July 2, 2012

Roxie is a 4 year old PB Golden Retriever; she has been with us for three days. She likes other dogs and cats. She gets along well with children. Roxie was surrendered because her owners had to move into an apartment and the new landlord doesn’t allow dogs.  She has never walked on a leash before, she used to play in a fenced in backyard for activity. Roxie is getting used to walks on a leash and we are using a gentle leader, so she doesn't pull on her collar. She knows her name but she is shy and needs a little coaxing to go from room to room.  She is a little nervous in her new surroundings. The vet said she is in good health, but she needs to lose about 15 pounds. She was fine having her ears cleaned and her nails trimmed. Roxie needs to be spayed before she can be adopted.  Every day she is getting more comfortable in her new foster home. She has been greeting the neighborhood dogs on our walks and wags her tail when someone new approaches her. We will keep you posted as we learn more about Roxie in the next week.

Roxie is getting used to everything in her new foster home. She walks on her leash without pulling as much. She knows the commands "sit" and "drop". We are still working on stay! She loves to play with other dogs and cats and she likes the soft squeaky toys. Roxie only barks when she wants out of her crate and when the doorbell rings, otherwise we don't hear a peep out of her! Roxie is losing her extra weight, she has lost four pounds since she arrived! She still needs to shed about 10 more pounds to be at a healthy weight. Unfortunately Roxie got a urinary tract infection, she is on antibiotics for the next two weeks. She still has to be spayed. We are setting up the appointment to be spayed after she completes her antibiotics for the bladder infection. Roxie is a happy and energetic four year old golden retriever who loves to be petted and go for walks. We spent time at the lake, but she is not a big fan of the water. She only got in it after I coaxed her in the lake to cool off on our hot walk!
