Introducing Buster all the way from a shelter in Oklahoma! He was in danger of being euthanized and the folks there must have seen something special in him so volunteers worked their "tails" off to get him safely to Minnesota.
Thanks you to Friends of the Saving Paws, Extraordinary Tails, and Paws on Wheels who were instrumental in getting him here to RAGOM.
Buster is cute as can be with a soft golden coat and one ear that stands up and one ear that flops down (crumpled from some kind of past trauma - frozen? past infection? who knows...) It doesn't bother him at all now and it gives him such character!
Buster is a 3 1/2 year old mix, possibly Golden Retriever and Border Collie, weighing 52 lbs. He's UTD, HW negative, but had a positive fecal for hookworms so we're taking care of that. His eyes are a little goopy, for which he's getting an antibiotic salve.
We have found that Buster is sooo easy! He's house broken, no accidents in the house (even though he had noisy tummy the first few days), no storm or separation anxiety, although he does lay by the door when someone leaves...expectantly awaiting their return :) He was a little bothered by the lawn mower and ran from front screen door to back screen door, whining...maybe worried about his Foster Dad so close to all that noise?
He sleeps nicely on a doggie bed but wanders a little in the night to check on the other bedrooms. He's been fine left home alone for several hours during the day.
Buster came to us knowing "sit" "shake" and "lay down." He's quickly learning "stay." His favorite things are fetching tennis balls, riding in the car, and just being petted. He's very gentle. No problems touching or moving his food, fine with all the dogs he's met, and we've heard he's fine with kids although he hasn't met any little ones since he's been with us. We've had no experience with cats.
Buster is learning what a "walk" is. He walks nicely on a leash but doesn't really heel, although he doesn't pull either.
Buster will enjoy a home with a fence and people who will spend time cuddling and playing fetch with him.
