Happy Minnesota Spring from a former Texan You are turning into such a beautiful butterfly! Love, Cooper, Bauer, and Betty 12-101

Beautiful Brit arrived safely at her new foster home on Saturday! Transport said she was a sweetheart in the car but did get a little car sick in the first leg of her long trip.  We aren't sure of her age as her teeth need some attention, but we will get her in to a vet this week and hopefully get a better idea.  Brit is a scared girl who obviously used to live outside.  She is very tentative about coming into the house and is most comfortable outside or in a kennel.  She is friendly with adults, children, other dogs and cats.  She will need some socialization and love from her humans to get her to feel safe and adjust to her new life as an indoor dog.  She is a medium sized female (approx 50 lbs) with a beautiful coat and a lot of love to give!  Even though she is scared right now she does seek attention from her people and wags and smiles when she is receiving touch.  Brit is being fostered in St Paul.

Brit stayed at another foster home over the weekend b/c her current fosters were away on vacation. While she was there she learned to play with toys, come through the door into the house with the other dogs, wrestle with other furrbutts and run around crazy in her fenced yard!!!!! We are now using a martingale collar with her and a long leash. The collar makes it so she can't slip out of it and the leash allows us to reel her in slowly when we want her to come to us. So far so good, fingers crossed!

She is back at her regular foster home today and already we have seen a huge change in Brit's disposition. She is happy, tail wagging and asking for love. She also rode in the car today without being car sick and jumped right out when we got home. She is getting braver everyday and we are so happy to be able to see light in her sweet golden eyes.

Brit is recovering well and has really warmed up to my daughter!!!!  In fact she is the only one Brit will allow pets from consistently.  Brit wags her tail every time she sees my 5 year old and she gets the look like she's in doggie heaven whenever my daughter gives her love.  She is still very skiddish with me and a little less so with my husband.  She is definitely a man's dog and seems now to trust kids.   My husband can carry her in and out of the house and she doesn't fight or flight.  She still won't cross the threshold and come into the house on her own.  She watches us very curiously and has good energy for a girl who has had 2 surgeries in the last week.  She has no problem with her soaked dog food but is not terribly treat/food motivated.  Brit is a sweet sweet soul who will make a wonderful dog to someone who is patient with her.
