I am now 1 week and 3 days old - my mom is Ruby 11-372! I weigh in at 1lb and 9oz. I am one of the smaller pups in this group, and I might say, I am very trim and handsome. See me next week as I grow and become even cuter.

Updates

Hey fans! It’s me, Kona writing my own update today! I really miss my momma and FM, but they keep us busy so we don’t have time to think about it. Man without nine other puppies in the puppy pen there’s a lot of space to play with Ritter and Maui. I’m a really good wrestler; look at the pics below ‘cause Petsitting Fosterkid (PFK) mentioned something about an “action shot?”. I really like wrestling; you can watch me do some of my moves here.

The whole wrestling thing is coming pretty easily to me, I really like playing with Ritter and Maui; PFK said Ritter is the energizer bunny and that’s good ‘cause then I get to play with him a lot. Petsitting fosterkid said I’m uber chubby (She says it’s like carrying around a thirteen pound bowling ball), but I’m the smallest at 13.6 pounds (of pure awesomeness!). PFK said she weighed me three days ago and I was 13 pounds, so that’s a whopping .6 lb I’ve grown since then! Apparently when PFK was trying to teach me sit I decided that I didn’t want to learn “sit”, I wanted to learn “sit pretty” (sit and put both your paws in the air). Time for a nap here so here’s Petsitting fosterkid to finish the update!

Kona is just the sweetest thing! He loves being with people and he’ll tell you when he needs to go potty (he’ll run around the puppy pen and jump on the sides while whining and howling for me to come take him out). What a smart cookie! He also learned sit very fast and focused on me (unlike Ritter who was chewing on my pants). Kona is the best with other pets (Ritter and Maui are fine), because whenever a dog or cat comes to the outside of the puppy pen, Ritter and Maui will start jumping and howling in excitement, but Kona will just wag his tail and sit to watch what the mysterious creature will do next, which helps when you have very paranoid cats. Kona absolutely LOVES belly rubs and he’s a big out-doorsy guy. I picked out Maui and Ritter to come to our house, and then one of my brothers chose Kona because he wanted “the big sleeping blob” LOL. Like most typical retrievers Kona seems to like water; he also LOVES tennis balls. They’re all ready for a walk; all you have to do is bring a water bottle! Check out this cute video below for more.

Kona is adorable! He’s also very sweet, loving and cuddly; but boy does he have some energy! The L. Family is very lucky to get this sweet little boy:) Congrats. Check out his pics below!

Dear Mom and FM,

I’m up in Eden Prairie with my 2 brothers having a 1 week vacation without you. I miss you a lot, but boy are we having fun! Think slumber party for SEVEN whole nights!

The first day our petsitting mom and her daughter had a meeting with all three of us at the end of the day to give us a few rules. Here’s what they said:

  1. THIS is a shoelace. It is NOT your chew toy.
  2. THIS is my sleeve. It is NOT your chew toy.
  3. THIS is my finger. It is NOT a chew toy (yes I’m talking to you Ritter)
  4. THAT is your brother. He is NOT a chew toy.
  5. THIS is my cleaning rag that I’m trying to wipe with. The three of you do not need to chase it every time I move it back and forth.
  6. You will NOT play tug of war with the pee pads.
  7. THAT is the resident dog. She does NOT have magic milk dispensers on her tummy like your mother.
  8. THAT is your water dish. It is NOT a swimming pool.

It was a little like boot camp, but we all nodded and pretended we were listening. On our second day our petsitting family took us to the baseball field behind their house and we chased the kids all over the place. It was quite fun, and our petsitting mom said our ears were all flying like bat ears we were running so fast. On our third day our petsitting kid taught us all how to sit. At that point we had the whole family completely wrapped around our paws and they all declared that we were pure GENIUS when our butts hit the floor.

When we wake up from our nap we let our family know by giving them a lonely yipe, and if they come running we wait until they take us outside to go to the potty. Then they oooh and ahhh some more and tell us how genius we are again. If they don’t hear us for a few minutes, then the ONLY place we go potty is on the pee pad in the corner. Petsitting mom said it’s a good thing we’re all adoption pending because we’re so smart she might just have to keep us all!

Keep checking our page because our petsitting kid said she will write about each of our personalities in a day or two once she knows us really well!

Now has a new family! The L family has 2 boy peeps to play with and lots of new kids and peeps to meet once a year for 3 months while they are at camp up in Northern MN and there will be lots of swimming and even horses. Hit the Jackpot!! Kona is now 9.75 lbs.

Went to the vet for the 1st shots and wormer, we are now at 6 weeks old. Foster mom had to bring reinforcements to help load all us puppies and unload at the vet. Thanks to Mary T for the extra help. Dr. Heidi says we are all very healthy and that our Dad must of been a big boy, cause our mom is kinda small. We have appointments to have our spay and neuter surgery for 5 of us on 3/19 and for the other 5 on 3/20. Then we will just wait for our new people parents and siblings to come get us. We sure are meeting lots of nice people, who most say "how do we choose, they all are so cute and perfect."

Mom has decided to hold back the milk and now mom is teaching us not to bite so hard and to play nice. We now eat dry Nurtrisource Lg puppy food 3-4 times a day and most of us are doing pretty good about going potty on the pads.

Went outside for the first time, because vet Heidi says we need to get hardened up a bit and go outside and learn to pee and poop on the grass. We all sure loved the KUDOS and praise when we go potty on the grass, we hold our heads high and get so excited.

2/8/12 - Gained almost a lb since last wt. My eyes are wide open and love to play with my littermates and get excited when the human kid plays with me in our pen.

2/12/12 - Started eating soft puppy food today, because mom Ruby is getting very drained of nutrients and my vet says to start 1 feeding of puppy food in hopes that Mom will get a little break. Anyway, eating very well, no problems in this area. Gobble it all up.

2/13/12 - Godmom Jen came over and gave me a new collar and tag ,so I am really somebody now, a license to play and lick your face.
