Mr Pickles 12-017

Profile

Mr Pickles....how can you not fall in love with a guy with that name?? Mr Pickles was rescued by RAGOM from a very high kill shelter in Kentucky, & through a lot of love & dedication from many volunteers he made the long drive north & into our home ( Thank You!!!) Why he was in the shelter in the first place is unknown but he is a definite sweetie!

Mr Pickles is a golden retriever mix. He was neutered before he left Kentucky & will need his stitches out next week. He has an appointment for Tuesday so he will get microchipped then, as well as get his heart worm test done. Otherwise he is UTD on vaccines. I'll be asking the vet to give a guesstimate on his age, by my guess I'd say he's about a year old. He also had worms & has been treated for that. He weights in at 60 pounds, he's rather short, solid & fluffy all in one. He has a nice thick coat, a dark golden color, with a touch of black on his tail. He reminds me of a cuddly teddy bear.

Pickles gets along great with our kids, cats, & 3 of our 4 dogs. One of our dogs doesn't care for Mr Pickles but Pickles doesn't mind. He keeps his distance & walks away when he gets put in his place. Mr Pickles even managed to get one of our goldens to play with him, quite the feat since Skippy likes to hog the toys & I've never seen him play like that before....they are best of buds already.

I'd say Pickles is mostly potty trained. He had 1 accident on his day of arrival & then did some submissive peeing on day 2, but no problems since. He has learned to go into the kennel at night with a little treat....not his favorite but he settles very quickly & is quiet all night. He has free roam during the day.

This cutie is a cuddler but not a kisser. He won't be around long, so let your placement divisor know if you're interested in this sweetie!

Mr Pickles had a vet visit this week....he passed with flying colors! Pickles weights in officially at 56 pounds, is now microchipped, & had his stitches removed from his recent neuter. The vet said it was difficult to remove the stitches but Pickles just stood there & gobbled up some loving & some treats....yum! She also guessed his age at 1 1/2, because he is very muscular , full grown & has awesome white teeth.

Mr Pickles is just adorable. He is very well behaved. He now goes in his kennel very easily, & will occasionally just go in on his own when he needs a break. He loves, loves, loves to play with our dogs & also likes to play with the kitties. He is so funny cuz he also likes to chase flying insects! He loves to get belly rubs, takes treats gently, walks nicely on the leash & readily hops in the car to go for a ride. He is a little cautious around men at first, but warms up quickly. He is also pretty quiet & rarely barks. He loves to play ball, is getting better about bringing the ball back, & loves his stuffed animals. If he can't entice one of our dogs to play with him, he certainly entertains himself by dropping the ball, watching it bounce or roll away & then running after it & repeating the process. Too cute!
