Kramer 11-435

Profile

Hello RAGOMland!!! We've got Kramer in the house!!!!

Kramer is a shorter hair with some waves GR and turned 7 on 12/4! You wouldn't know he was 7, he still has a lot of spark in him!!! He is a tall boy and was last weighed in at 70#s. We are taking him to the vet Thursday for a wellness and fecal test and will post that later. He seems to be a healthy boy with an occasional ear infection when he gets wet. So his previous owner put cotton balls in his ears so he wouldn't get infections.

Kramer has been with us since Monday and boy has he settled in to our routine! Here is what we know, so far!

  • Walks well on a gentle leader, did the bucking bronco at first but realizes that it is staying on.
  • Haven't seen any resource guarding, both dogs eat in the kitchen right next to each other and drink out of the same bowl.
  • Takes treats nicely!
  • Unsure about cats as he hasn't been exposed to them and we don't have a cat.
  • Does ok with commands, sit, kennel up, go lay down but could use some obedience training.
  • If opportunity exists, he would be a counter/table surfer.
  • He will talk to ya, not sure what he is asking/saying, so we are still trying to figure that out. By no means is it excessive.
  • Does well with dogs and kids.
  • Has the Golden Lean! Loves his scratches.
  • Likes the bed and couch if you let him, I am thinking he was allowed on the furniture at his previous home. Here we have doggy beds all around.
  • Will kennel up when asked, doesn't like it that much but we kennel our dogs while we are gone until we get to know them better. Though, I could see him having free roam because of his age.
  • Did I say walks well!!! I took both dogs (resident and Kramer) and resident was pulling in front and Kramer was taking his sweet time bringing up the rear!
  • He is used to a fence and did well.

As I said above, Kramer didn't take long to settle into our routine. He follows FM and FD around and will relax when you relax. He is such a good boy!

Dear RAGOM,

Our sweet boy, Kramer 11-435, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 1 after suffering from lymphoma. We were so hoping for a longer time with him but it wasn't to be. Kramer was a unique dog. When it was was time to eat, he would twirl in circles waiting for his food. He would prance in the back yard like a deer playing with tennis balls that had squeakers in them. He loved toys and kept them at his feet. We took him on vacations to the North Shore and lots of fun times at the dog park. The house is so empty without him. We miss him every day.

Hello again! Kramer and I wanted to let everyone know that our family is participating in the Walk for Rescue at Goldzilla this year and this will be our first time!! We are very excited. If you want to take a look at his page, click here! http://goldzilla.dojiggy.com/ng/index.cfm/a71a2f4/regPages/pledge/ECKLUNDFAMILY/

A few weeks ago we took a family vacation Up North. I mentioned in Kramer's last update that we didn't know how he would be around water. Well, he was a bit frightened by it. The first time we brought him near the water he kept jumping backwards because he didn't understand the small (yet terrifying) waves were just water. Poor guy! But by the end of the trip he was able to get all four paws in! No swimming, but still an accomplishment! We're so proud of our boy!

Happy Summer from Kramer and his two-legged sister!

Kramer is continuing to love life with our family and now that it's warm outside we're spending lots of time playing in our backyard, going to the dog park, or walking around one of the lakes in the Twin Cities. Kramer's still a snuggler, and somehow thinks that he can sit on our laps. But that's what we love about him! He has quirks that are absolutely hilarious and a bit strange, but it keeps life entertaining! Some of these quirks include:

  • Prancing/running like a deer
  • Hopping like a bunny to try to play tug of war with us
  • Having a deep love for any toy that squeaks (this may not be a "quirk," but our first dog didn't really care for toys, so when we got Kramer this was a huge change for my family!)
  • Doing a low growl whenever he plays with people and dogs
  • His two-turn dance whenever it's meal time
  • Being ready for dinner almost 2 hours before it's dinner time (then again, he's always hungry)
  • And many more!

Every day I think about how lucky my family and I are that we have Kramer in our lives. We don't know the whole story about what his life was like before RAGOM, but we do know that he is now a part of our family and will always be loved and cherished. Next month we'll be going Up North for vacation and hopefully Kramer will enjoy it as much as we do!

Thank you RAGOM for introducing this big lovebug into our lives!

Happy Valentine's Day from Kramer (and his two-legged sister)!

It's been officially one year (ok, a little over one year) since we adopted Kramer! He became a member of our family on February 12, 2012 and has brought so much joy and humor into our lives! He is definitely a quirky boy, as seen in this video. Before each of his meals, Kramer waits at the top of the stairs until either my mom or dad comes up with his bowl of food. As he sees them coming up the stairs, he does a little "dance," which involves him spinning around in circles! Usually he spins 3 times, but in the video he only does it twice. Probably because, as you can hear my mom say, he knows he's being filmed. It's never a dull moment with this boy, that's for sure!

He also really enjoys playing with his toys, especially his stuffed squirrel. That one is his favorite. We're surprised the squeaker hasn't broken yet and that it hasn't been de-stuffed yet, either! Kramer also loves going to the dog park, which is where he is in the picture of him outside by the fence.

Kramer celebrated his 7th birthday on December 4th, and his age definitely hasn't slowed him down one bit! It's amazing how much energy he has. During the day he loves to sit by my mom as she works, or bug her until she takes a break and plays with him! And then if he gets tired he'll go up onto our couch and take a nap. What a life!!

Hello from Kramer's two-legged sister!

It has been almost 5 months since we've adopted this adorable lovebug into our family! What a sweet boy he is. We continue to learn more about him everyday, like his discovery of the game "keep away" which he shows off in the video, and his fear of fireworks (he's not a big fan of the 4th of July!). My mom takes him on a walk or to the dog park twice daily which he absolutely loves. He also likes to play fetch and prances around our backyard with his orange squeaky ball. We've gone through a lot of them because he squeaks the ball so much that it breaks!

Kramer is such a cuddly boy and likes to think he is a lap dog, which is hilarious! He also likes to sit on feet when we come home or when someone new comes into our house. We don't know why he does this, but it is pretty funny!

We are so grateful Kramer is a part of our family and also thankful for the foster families that took care of him during his medical crisis. He is a very, very happy boy now!

From Kramer's forever family...

Kramer has been with us two weeks and is doing great. He has quickly gotten used to our early morning walks so no sleeping in on weekend mornings. When I come home from work, he is ready for his evening walk also. We use a harness and he is a great walker - doesn't pull but has a nice pace. He loves to snuggle on the couch at night while we watch TV. We took him to the airport dog park last weekend and kept him on the leash until he learns what is expected of him and when I trust he will come back when called. He loves our backyard and we play ball. He is good with letting me take the tennis ball out of his mouth. We're very happy Kramer came into our family. Thank you RAGOM for all the wonderful work that you do.
