Please welcome Truman to the RAGOM family! Tru came to us as a stray from a crowded shelter in Kansas City. He is approximately 6 years old and this poor boy is one sick puppy right now, so he will be unavailable for adoption until we can get him healthier. Truman has a severe case of Kennel Cough, which is the dog equivalent of the human chest cold. Just like humans, some dogs get it worse than others and poor Truman is just miserable. He came to our home Saturday night and all he wanted to do was lay on the couch. In between coughing, that is. He was refusing food and water and was so lethargic in fact, we almost brought him to the emergency vet Sunday night. He has been hospitalized since Monday morning and has been receiving IV fluids and antibiotics. They've got him set up in an isolation room (since it's so contagious) with a vaporizer to help him breathe. He has a fever and some mild congestion in his lungs, so we're crossing our fingers and paws that it doesn't progress to pneumonia.
It's hard to say too much about Truman at this point because I'm sure he isn't his normal self right now. But he is extremely sweet and despite how crummy he's feeling, he still wags his tail on occasion. Please keep Truman in your prayers that he pulls through this and starts getting better soon! As you can imagine, hospitalization isn't cheap and Truman's medical bills are mounting, so if you can donate even a small amount, that will help and Tru will really appreciate it!
Get well soon sweet Tru-baby!
