Penny 11-385 arrived at our home on Sunday and what a SWEETHEART she is!! She is beautiful and very loving. She was a stray in northern MN, so nothing is known about her background. She’s approximately 2 years old and I can tell she has been an inside dog before. Penny leans up against you to get attention and it turns into a lazy sit, then slide to her back for you to pet her belly. This is a great girl that just wants to be where you are.
The second I opened the kennel she pushed me aside to get in, so the kennel seems to be her safe spot and she doesn’t have any problem going into it. She knows sit, will come when called and I’m not sure if she knows shake or just wants to put her paw on you! She does not jump on furniture! Her paws have gone on the counter a couple times, but she has not taken anything.
Penny is funny when she comes up to you and is really excited… she wants to jump up, but knows she shouldn’t so her paws will come up about 6 inches and go back , then back up and back down. She's a happy, funny girl.
We’re going to the vet Thursday to be micro chipped and looked over again. She was brought up to date on most of her shots at the shelter she was brought into. The shelter did a test and she was positive for lymes disease or was exposed to it. She’s not showing symptoms, but will be finishing up the medication over the next few weeks as a precaution. Penny will need to be fixed before going home with her forever family.
She is going to be a great family dog and will love an active family since she is still younger. We haven’t had Penny around kids, but she is very gentle and with her knowing not to jump up, she should be ok with most kids. She isn’t too interested in our resident dog, so she would be great as an only dog since she loves people and gives great kisses!
Let your placement advisor know if you would like to meet her and we’ll keep you posted with more information after the vet and we get to know her better!
