Hi everyone! My name is Max, a 5 month old Goldendoodle, and I am new to the RAGOM family as of November 8th. My loving family made the incredibly difficult and emotional decision to surrender me to RAGOM so I could get the needed medical attention for my broken elbow. Thank you for loving me enough to do this for me!

According to my vet records, on October 20th, I got into an accident with a lawn mower. They surrendered me Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the AWESOME Dr. R at Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital performed surgery on me. I have a "Salter-2 Distal humeral supracondylar fracture with marked fibrosis and calculus with proximal medial displacement". Wow that's a mouthful! Dr R outfitted me with an external fixator to help keep everything in place while the fractures heal.

Here is a picture of the external fixator. It looks like a big dog bone chew toy that I carry with me. Hmm, maybe I could market that idea...a little velcro, a little crazy glue...

Anyway, I will be sporting the fixator for the next 6 weeks. I am unable to walk on that leg right now so I am doing my best impression of being a tripod and hopping on 3 legs while FM has a towel under my leg and chest for assistance. I am actually quite good at it too! Here is how I drag my bum leg.

The routine for my recovery has me spending practically all of my time in a crate except for potty breaks and snuggle time with FM on a dog bed when my foster-sisters are outside. I haven't been able to properly meet my foster-sisters except through the crate because I can't risk getting excited and bouncing on my leg. But I can tell I am going to love them when I do finally get to play with them. My foster-sisters are doodles too, so I fit in perfectly here.

Personality-wise, FM says I am absolutely a sweetheart! (I knew that...ha, ha!) I love crawling in FM's lap and giving tons of kisses. Literally, tons! I never stop and my tail does not stop wagging either. This injury and recovery will not dampen my spirit, that I can guarantee. My coat is incredibly soft and wavy. I'm a big mop of hair.

I do not resource guard toys or food. Show me some food and my tail goes into super-sonic mode and I Hoover-Vacuum my food. I am very skinny and need to put some meat on my ribs, so I am getting 5-6 cups of good food throughout the day. And without being able to tear around the yard, I won't be burning as many calories. I lived as an only dog and had a 1 1/2 year old human in my house. FM has only seen pure sweetness in me and I desperately want to play with my foster-sisters, so she thinks I will be great in any household. FM does not know about cats or if I have a prey drive, and will not be able to find that out for quite a long time.

I won't be available for adoption until the fractures do some good healing. I still have to have "snip-snip" surgery, so that may happen at the same time as getting my fixator removed, hopefully just before Christmas. I will be doing some physical therapy exercises with my leg starting the second week here and will have to be on leash-restricted activity and PT for a few weeks after the fixator is removed to make sure I build back up at a steady pace. With my energy and personality, if I was let off leash, I'd be zooming all over the place!! That would not be good as I would wreck all of this expensive medical treatment.

Speaking of expensive, have you heard about "Give To The Max Day" at GiveMN.org this week on Wednesday Nov 16th? I bet you are thinking they named that for me. Nope! However, if you would like to "Give To This Max" to help defray my medical costs, I would be forever grateful and would send sloppy kisses your way! There is more info on RAGOM's homepage if you are interested in helping me or any of the other outstanding goldens in RAGOM's care. Also, if you could click on the Kare 11 Challenge on the homepage to help us potentially win money for all of the GReat dogs here, I would appreciate that too. Vote Everyday! Takes literally 15 seconds to do. That Challenge also ends on Wednesday.

A very special "Thank You" to Devon TT for coming over to take pictures of me yesterday and to Amy L. for handling me during the photo shoot while FM was trying to get me to focus. I have many ants-in-my-puppy-pants so to speak and have a really hard time sitting still. FM just could not get any pictures of me by herself as I have to instantly get in her face. (Sorry about the noses smudges on your camera lens Devon.)

Thanks for ready my long post. I will keep you updated on my progress in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Very, very, very, very affectionately yours,

Max

Hey Stanley Max-a-million fans!  I hope you had a great week and enjoyed the nice weather before the cold rolled in.  I sure did.  This was my last week in my foster home so I made the most of it.  My little girlfriend Macie had a few sleepovers so we could play and cuddle.  Boy is she a sweetie!  Check this out...

I started out my day by getting a nice warm sudsy bath and blow dry (yes, it is manly to be pampered once in a while).  Can I just say that I love getting my face wrapped in a towel and dried while being told how much I am loved --- I gave FM many kisses in return.  Then it was playtime with all the girls.

As soon as I thought the day could not get any better, my new family showed up to take me home!  They hung out for a while so I could play with my new sister Lady get some of my crazy excitement out and Lady got to play with my foster-sisters too.  Mom and FM went over paperwork while Dad played referee between me and Lady so we would not get too rowdy just yet.  I'm bet Lady thinks I've been living in some big party house all this time.  Well, now it will just be me and her and our mom and dad, Megan and Mike.  Check us out with our first family photo. I sure hope mom and dad are ready for a really big lap dog  -- don't tell them, but I'm not full grown yet.  Ha!

I am sad to leave my foster home and know FM  and my foster-sisters will miss me, but I am on to new adventures.  It has been a challenging 9 1/2 weeks that included two surgeries and lots of medical stuff along the way.  I want to give a HUGE shout out to Dr. R for performing my surgeries and to all of the other great doctors and staff and Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital for taking excellent care of me every week to help get me back to 100% function in my leg.  I still have some rehab to do over the next few weeks to build up my leg, but I'm thinking it is all good from here on out!

And to my special lunchtime buddy Amy L, thank you for coming over all the time to spend time with me and give me a break from the crate.  I am forever grateful for your kindness.

One last heartfelt thank you to all of the people that sponsored me and donated tokens to help with my medical bills.  Your generousity just warmed my heart as well as my fostermom's.

To my foster-sisters, you ROCK!  Thanks for sharing everything you have with me and for being patient with my puppy behaviors and biting!  I have learned a lot from you and promise to be a good boy in my new family.  I'm sure I'll figure out a way to see you again since we are not too far away.  And when I do, be prepared, because then I will be ready to run!  I am so looking forward to that!

Thanks for reading about me these last 2 months!  Now go read up on all of the other wonderful dogs on this site.  Maybe one of them is just the right one to add to your family...I'm just saying....

Love,
Stanley Max-a-Million

Hi Everyone,

Special Shout Out to Will and Ali for the Christmas Mitten with Love!  Thank you so much!  Big smooches to both of you!  I hope your week is going great.  Mine sure is.  I am meeting new friends all the time around here!

This is my new friend Macie, a mini-goldendoodle.  Another cousin of my foster-sisters. She came over for a sleepover.  Well, as you know with most sleepovers, sleeping is the last thing on our minds!  She is 4 1/2 months old and a whopping 20 pounds.  Me being a mature (ahem) 7 months old, I was showing her the ropes.  She plays ruff-n-tuff and non-stop, my kinda girl. She even lost a tooth while playing (okay, it was a baby tooth and just hanging there waiting to drop out).

Here I am showing her how to share the bone.  FM says I was actually stealing it.... we agreed to disagree about that.  There was no growling involved.  If the bone were spaghetti, it would have been a Lady and the Tramp kinda picture.

We decided playing in the tub would be fun too.  My foster-sisters taught me to drink from the running faucet as it is nice and cold.   And I found out Macie likes to get blow dried with the hair dryer, just like I do!  (FM does that to me every morning because I like to hang out in the bathroom while she is getting ready for work, and sit and wait to be fluffed up.)

It sure is a good thing that I am going to have a new sister in my home, because with all the dogs coming and going around here, I've rather gotten used to having company around and love all of the excitement these last couple of weeks.  My new mom and sister even came over Wednesday night to play with me and brought all of us new toys.  How cool is that!  Mom says she thinks of me all day long and can't wait to get back from her trip to take me home for good.  Only one more week here for me then new home and new name.  I am going to be called Stanley.  We all think it fits my goofy personality.  So FM is trying to remember to use my new name, but messes up constantly.

Well, that's all for now.  Loving the warmer weather for my walks!

Hi Everyone!

Happy New Year to everyone!  Here's me and my foster-sisters Lilly and Kraelyn and a former-foster Apollo all ready to party!  It looks like Krae had already drank a bit too much from the water bowl - what a light-weight!

After ringing in the New Year, I got some wonderful news.  A family that came to meet me on Saturday afternoon decided that I would make a great addition to their family, so I am  going to be adopted! My new family has a 3 year old chocolate lab, so I will have a big-little sister.  Little because I am already her size and will get bigger.  We really had fun playing with each other.  My adoption will be finalized in a couple of weeks because my family already had a trip planned out of state. My new mom is running in a marathon, so I thought I would start on my New Year's Resolution and get in shape. What happens if I push THIS button!??!

When my new family picks me up, my mom has a couple of months off and will be home with me and my new sister so we will get a ton of bonding time!  I can hardly wait!  Until then, I'll be hanging out with my foster family doing my therapy.  My new family is coming over again this week so we can spend some more time together too.  Can I just say, I love being the center of attention!

Later,

Super Max

Hi Everyone!  I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!  I sure did.

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Mini-doodle Ruby and to Kelly for sending me Christmas Mittens!  Thank you SO MUCH!  I definitely feel the Christmas Joy!

The last few days have been great here.  I got my own Christmas Goose to play with.

Additionally, we have a house guest for a week.  Former foster Apollo came to hang out with us while his family is on vacation.  I thought Kraelyn, the gold goldendoodle was big until I met this guy!  FM says he was huge 9 months old 15 months ago, now he is just a Moose in disguise!

I've met my match for playing. For the first 2 days, I didn't think Apollo liked me as he kept growling at me.  FM slowly introduced us on Saturday, and he even met me through the crate without issues, but my puppy exhuberance outside of the crate was too much for the guy as I kept getting up in his face and barking at him trying to get him to play.  Well, today, my persistance paid off.  We were in the office with FM and I kept approaching him and barking at him.  FM kept telling me to knock it off as he was growling.  Finally, I laid down and he came over to me.  I was nice and still and submissive on my side while he did the requisite sniffing again. He laid down by me so I started pawing at him. First his legs, then his face. His tail started wagging, and Viola! We were playing! Whoo Hoo.  Now he knows I am a funny guy and not aggressive.  So for the next 20 minutes, FM let us play on the floor and mouth each other.  FM had to keep me from getting too excited and she would not let me wrestle and kept her hand in my collar.  We played great! No growling from either of us!  Geez, I wish I was totally healthy.  Apollo and I would have a great time running and wrestling outside!

Here I am looking up to him like a big brother.  We could not have done this 2 days ago.

So, the bottom line is I have to learn how to do proper introductions with other dogs.  Apollo did lots of growling at me and I did not respect his signals, so had FM not had a hold of me, I could have gotten myself into trouble. I did get his message when he harshly snapped at me a couple of times, but FM prefers I learn restraint and respect lip curls and low growls.

I also am getting out for my 5 minute walks a couple of times a day.  When we get back, I like to sit in the front yard and observe.  In fact, I plant myself and FM can't get me to come, even for treats.  I'm so bored with inside life, especially in this nice weather!    This morning was my third walk using a Gentle Leader.  I made it the whole way without struggling to get it off!  FM is very proud of me.  I still pull a bit, but I am MUCH better than on flat collar.  FM knows I'll be a superstar with lots of training.

That's all for now!

Hi Everyone!  Super Max reporting in.

A very, very special Thank You to Sandra Lynn for sponsoring me this week.  I really appreciate your generosity!

Well, I went to the doctor on Monday night and had my stitches removed and was updated on my vaccinations.  The only outstanding thing is a recheck for my roundworms to see if that has resolved.  That is due sometime next week. So I am officially available to meet people and start my search for my forever home!  How awesome is that!

And a little update on the gauze I ate 2 weeks ago.  Well, Tuesday morning, they appeared...FM had to "assist" in the delivery as they were, shall we say, stuck.  You know when a magician or clown pulls out lots of colorful hankerchiefs from their mouth or coat sleeve? Kinda like that, but not so colorful and stinky. Peweh!  Into the tub for a warm water clean up and then towel dry.  Still no sign of the sponges...Hmmmm

One thing I have not done is been cat-tested.  I am such a playful guy that I think I would be good, but I bet I would chase for fun or probably bark at him initially. When out front for potty breaks, I do bark at other dogs I see because I want to play with them so bad.  I am also starting to respect baby-gates if FM needs to run upstairs for a few minutes.  I used to bark and push the gate over, but now just quietly wait for her to come back (with the treats).  Not sure what I would do if really left alone. FM thinks I have a ways to go before being trustworthy, giving how much I like to chew on stuff.  For example:

Here I am with the singing Christmas Puppy.

And here I have had enough of his singing!

This week I have finally healed enough that I can interact with my foster-sisters, though must be kept under control.  Can I just say that I love them!  Especially that foxy girl Lilly.  Me--ow!!!  Frequently I am a bit pesky as I bite a lot and tug on ears, legs, necks, tails...okay, whatever I can grab.  Kraelyn tells me quickly to knock it off when I get too rough.  Lilly is a puppymill girl, and doesn't tell me quite as vocally but will show me some teeth and shy away.  I have a ways to go in reading doggie signals as I don't understand "No" from them the first 10 times. Ha Ha  What can I say?  I have so much energy to expend and no way to do that.   However, if we are being quiet on the couch, I love hanging with the girls.  I have to be touching everyone.

I have also found my favorite chair to sit on too.  Lilly doesn't seem to mind either. She says I can be just like a blanket.

Here are some requirements for my forever home:

1. Someone that will be very patient with my healing process and will be able to keep me on leash restriction for 6-8 weeks while gradually working up my strength while the fractures and holes from the fixator finish mending.  Right now I can do stairs when leashed so I don't fly up and down.  I can also do 5 minute walks outside and should slowly work up to longer walks over the next 6-8 weeks.  And no running around in the house either. FM is waiting to hear back from the doctor at the clinic to see if I can be a running partner after I am 18 months old or if that would not be recommended for my elbow.  The doctor did say a glucosamine supplement could be beneficial for me.  Depending on brands and type (pills, capsules, liquid), that cost could be $30-$40 per month for the first 2 months and then around $20-$25 per month thereafter.

I do not have full range (Flex) in my right leg at this time but have made improvements over the past 5 weeks.  This could take some time to get better, and I will need some continued therapy to help make that happen.  FM has exercises she does with me every day.  Water therapy would be a good thing for me too if my new family can do that for me.

2. Obedience Training - I definitely need work in learning manners. I will counter surf when FM is right there. Yep, appetite still big.  Plus I love to learn so this will be great for me.  I am better at not mouthing as much, but still have a tendency to do it.

3. Lots of socialization. I can be an only dog in the household if I have tons of attention and playtime.  But if I had a doggie playmate, that would be most awesome!  I did get to meet my foster-sister's cousin, a 4 1/2  month old 14 pound mini-goldendoodle, and I did awesome with her. She's just as playful as me.

4. I am a velcro dog that has the golden retriever nose-nudge down pat. I love to be with my fans and love physical attention and sitting on laps and being a couch potato with dogs or humans. Snuggling is going to be a must.

5. I am crate trained. After 6 serious weeks in my crate, I have learned to deal with it and am very calm in there when FM is gone.  I very much prefer to be with everyone when they are home.

6. Since I am such a puppy and EVERYTHING goes into my mouth, I need to learn what is mine and should be monitored with stuffed toys to make sure I won't eat the stuffing or fabric. FM did test me with one and I did destuff it (the seam was already ripped, so can you blame me?!).  We don't have soft toys laying around here because Lilly does ingest that stuff.

I hope everyone has very Merry Christmas!  I hear rumors that someone named Santa is bringing me something special on Sunday morning...I can hardly wait!

Hi everyone,

Yup, it happened. I am in LOVE! In LOVE with cuddling on the BIG BED! All I can say is OMG! I love all those pillows. I rolled over on my back, let out a big sigh and said to my self, "Max, you're living large now!" I've been watching my foster-sisters up there for over 5 weeks and just wishing I could join them. FM kept telling me, soon, I will be up there too. Well, a few things happened in the past 10 days so I got my wish, though I still have to sleep in my crate at night. My daily therapy is much more comfortable on the bed than on the floor.

When I went in for my regular Monday night bandage change on 12/5, they unwrapped my leg and found a little infection brewing on my shoulder where the fixator nuts and bolts were digging into my skin. It was oozing brown gunk and a bit torn up and raw. We got that cleaned up and rebandaged. The next day, I ripped open all the bandaging so I could lick the wound as it was bugging the heck outta me. FM wrapped me back up, but I tore into again on Tuesday. Just to make a point, I ate a couple of the surgical sponges that were packing the fixator. What can I say! I am constantly hungry!

On Thursday morning I went back so Dr. R could check me out. She took some pictures of my leg and decided I was healing nicely so she performed surgery on me and removed all of the hardware, did some fixup work on the shoulder skin, and even did my snip-snip surgery. I am SOOOOO much happier now not lugging all of the stainless steel around. As for the sponges, FM found two pieces of a sponge a few days later when they came out --I'll spare you the details of how she found them, suffice it to say my pipes are working well this past week...Tee Hee

Here's an imaging picture of what the hardware looked like at the elbow.

I started to lick my shoulder since there was no bandaging after this last surgery, so I had to wear the "Cone of Shame".

But alas, I gained new skills and found out I can play ball with it on! Check me out here for some live action!  I certainly know how to entertain myself.

So after 6 days of the cone of shame, FM finally got the brilliant idea to flip it. (What took you so long, FM!!!) Now I am wearing the "Cape of Power!" and she calls me "Super Max". "There's no need to fear, Super Max is here!" Okay, ripped off from Underdog, but it works.

I am also gaining weight now that the roundworms are coming under control. I had my second dose of meds on Monday and I am 47 pounds. FM thinks I am going to be a good sized boy and tall, around 80 pounds or more by the time I am full grown in another 12-18 months as my paws are pretty big.

I have been getting more freetime out of the crate this week with FM home when my foster-sisters are outside or in another room. That is really helping to give me a break from crate life. I still cannot run or play with the girls. My therapy has me on leash restriction for 7 more weeks. Ugh. When we go outside, I pull like crazy to get out there. I want to run so bad, FM has to have a tight grip on the leash. I will attack any leaf blowing across the lawn or grab for any stick in the vicinity. I feel great now (probably from the pain meds), so don't understand the restrictions. FM is still doing PT on my leg twice a day too.

Next Monday night I will go back for one last check and to have my stitches removed from my shoulder and my last set of vaccinations. Then FM can give me a much needed bath as I have not been able to have one since coming in to RAGOM-land due to my leg. After that appt, I will be able to give everyone an idea of what on-going therapy I will need to complete my rehab and the prognosis for my leg function.

More after Monday's doctor appointment. Until then, more snuggling on the big bed!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick note to say a HUGE Thank you to my new sponsor, Judith!  I'm sending a bunch of sloppy kisses your way!

This week I started to eat my meals right next to my foster-sisters in the kitchen.  I am getting very good at sitting and waiting until FM says "OK" for all of us to eat.  The first time or two, I tried sneaking it, but FM said "Uh-ah" and I sat right back down and did a "watch me" with FM.  She makes us wait 15-30 seconds and then we eat.  I inhale my food and then stick my face in their bowls.  Good thing they don't bite me in my exhuberance! But FM is right there to tell me that is not appropriate and gently redirect me. I'm sure in another week or so with FM's help, I will learn to respect their space until they walk away from their bowls.

I did have 2 little growl issues when I was eating dinner in my crate and Lilly walked by the first week or two, but got better.  I also gave FM a little growl when she tried to take a raw meat bone from me, but we worked that all out.  She traded me other treats then gave the bone back multiple times and now I understand it is ok to give a high-value treat up because I will get it back. Though I do hang on and reluctantly let go, but no more growling at FM.  FM is not sure about the bone if the other dogs are around, as she has not tried that yet.

This week I had more time out of the crate, though tethered to the coffee table, when my foster-sisters were outside. I am still way too excited when they are in the room and try to play with them.  But if I am in one of my crates and they are in the room, I am very good.

Well, have a great weekend everyone!  I'll be hanging out here with my toys and doing my leg therapy.

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  Mine was pretty sedate as you could probably have guessed.  I got to hang out in a crate outside for 3 hours last Friday in the nice weather while FM was doing some last minute yardwork.  It was fun to have a change of scenery and watch the neighbor kids jumping on the trampoline and my foster-sisters chasing around the yard. Sure wish I could have joined them...I was appointed block captain for the afternoon so here I am doing Neighborhood Watch.

I went back to the clinic on Monday afternoon for my weekly bandage change. Everyone was so excited to see me, and to tell you the truth, I love going there too!  I got hugs and kisses from everyone and I was so excited to see people I wagged my tail uncontrollably.  The past 3 weeks of being home without much excitement has been rough.  At least weekly outings to the vet help.  Walking in there I feel like "Norm!" from Cheers. Everyone knows my name!

Dr. W. and Dr. B. both stopped by during the bandage change to take a look at my elbow and do some flexing and extending exercises to check my progress.  I am only flexing to 90-95 degrees right now, but we still have at least 3 weeks of PT to see if I can flex more.  I can pretty much get full extension out of it.

Here is a picture of my hardware without any bandages so you can see what I have going on.  Pretty wild, huh?!

Then Jessica got me all bandaged up again; this time I am sporting Vikings Purple.  I sure hope that brings some good luck for the next game.  Last Sunday was another bummer of a game, but I did get to snuggle on the couch with FM to watch it, so that was great.

It turns out that I have some dreaded roundworms too, so I am on meds to rid myself of those pesky guys.  I will have another dose of meds in 2 weeks and then a recheck to see if all is good.

I have put on a few pounds during my recovery and am now up to 40 pounds and looking super-fine.  I am still on the lean side, which is good for my leg too.  My "walking" only consists of going outside for potty breaks.  I am limping on the leg but will put full weight on it, and even try to bolt from FM when outside on breaks to do a puppy-zoom-zoom.  But alas, the leash is short, so I don't cover any ground.   FM sympathizes with me having all of this energy and no where to go with it.  She says I am such an incredible boy and handling the crating like a trooper.  I am a bit of a whirling dervish when sitting with FM on the floor or on the couch because I want to play and throw balls and bones around and leap at them.  The only time I am still outside of the crate is when we are doing my therapy on the floor and FM has one leg over my waist and belly to hold me down. Don't get me wrong here, I love the massages and everything, but I really want to PLAY!  When we go outside, I am so excited I pull hard on the leash to get out there.  FM thinks when my rehab is done at 12 weeks or so that I am just gonna BUST LOOSE ALL OVER THE PLACE and really show off my puppy energy.

I love to chew on various toys and bones to pass the time.  Here's me going to town on a bone -- purple bandage and all.

Training wise, I am making progress on Stay, which FM is really happy about. I am highly food motivated and love people so training should be a fun experience for me. FM can't work on Come with me because I will break into a run or leap for her if she doesn't hold on to me.  But I respond well to my name, so FM thinks I'll ace that when the time comes.

That's about it for me for this week.  More PT and resting in the crate is on tap for this week.  Cross your paws that I get a little more flexibility in my elbow over the next week too.

Can someone tell me what this cold white stuff is?  I've never seen this before. One minute I am outside in the green grass "conducting business", go in for a quick nap, come back out and everything is white and cold!  I am already hobbling on 3 legs and now had to figure out how to  keep yet another foot off the cold stuff!  I also tried to eat some of that because I am constantly hungry, and got a freezing shock in my mouth. FM was laughing as I was shaking my head trying to spit it out.  After that shock, I decided I liked it so now I grab some on each outing!

I had my second weekly visit to the clinic Monday afternoon to have my bandage changed and stitches removed.  Now I am stylish in a baby-blue bandage, appropriate for this boy. (Last week was pink.  Really, FM, pink?! I guess I am man enough to deal with that.  Next week will be Vikings Purple Pride to see if that helps the team win a game, though not holding my breath on that.)  lso, last week I started to put a little weight on my bum leg by toe touching and now this week I can put  more weight on it and walk outside without the towel for support. Yea for me, progress!

I am sporting a new puppy haircut these days.  FM sure had a hard time finishing it.  I kept crawling into her lap and collapsing like a folding chair!  So the process actually took many days to complete because I think it is totally playtime when I am not in the crate. I even grabbed the pile of cut hair when FM wasn't looking!  Yup, it gets all slobbery and FM has to pull it all out.  She was unable to trim my face because I'm so squirmy.  In exchange, I give GReat body hugs as payment. Good thing FM accepts hugs-n-kisses dollars.

I'm getting more out-of-crate time the last few days as FM is home this week spending her vacation with me.  I get to hang out on the couch with FM for TV time, though I can't seem to lie still for more than a minute because I have all of this energy to burn off.  I can briefly be distracted when chewing a bone on the couch but I keep shifting positions every 30 seconds and like to toss the bone around then try to pounce on it.  FM won't let me do that with my elbow and fixator, so she has to keep the leash on me, hrumpf.  I also get office time, though I am tethered to the treadmill.  My foster-sisters have taken to hanging out on the couch in the family room because I want to play with them and FM says no to that.  Can't blame a guy for trying! (Though I did manage to give each of them a quick kiss to show them how sweet I am.)  12 days down, 30 to go...

FM is doing physical therapy with me two times a day to limber up my elbow.  I am getting better at "trying" to lie still for this, but it is pretty difficult as I just want to play and keep trying to mouth FM's hand -- she may have to call in reinforcements to hug me while FM works my leg.  I am working on not mouthing too. FM says teeth on skin is a no-no.  I don't bite down, I'm just trying to interact. FM says I am highly orally-fixated as EVERYTHING goes into my mouth.

Well, that's it for now. I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and gets plenty of good food and family time.  I am thankful for Amy for visiting me every day last week for lunch and potty breaks!

Remember to hug your 4-footed family members daily!
