Princess 11-180

Princess arrived at her foster home mid-afternoon on Saturday. She met the gang and has settled in quickly. It's amazing that she's 12 years old because she sure doesn't act like it. She is a smaller golden and except for a graying face, she has no gray in her coat. She is thin (not too thin) and seems very agile. She does stairs easily too. She ate dinner nicely. She met the cat (also named Princess) and I don't think she'd ever seen a cat before. She was VERY interested...but Princess the cat set her straight and all seems fine as I write this. Princess fits in perfectly with my two goldens....both are darker red goldens, weighing around 55 pounds. I will know her weight after our vet visit (yet to be scheduled) but I'd bet she weighs a bit less than my guys, but not much.

Princess the dog was an owner surrender and seems to have none of the issues that so many of RAGOM's dogs have. I've left her alone (with the other dogs) for about 45 minutes and all was well when I returned. She seems to be perfectly housebroken and so far, has not tried to get on any furniture. She most likely won't be home alone longer than four hours without a break so I won't know for sure, but her surrendering owner says she can go all day without incident.

I'll update again as we get to know her. Also I will work on getting better photos, the camera battery was low and has now been recharged.

I guess I've figured out where Princess spends her days while I'm at work....on my bed!

Princess has a bed that she likes. It wasn't exactly easy to get this photo, whenever she saw the camera she would lift her head. I'd say she looks pretty content.

All is well with Princess. She has successfully made it through a work day. Not so bad as I come home at mid-day to let them out. She has free reign of the main floor of the house. She has company too. Nothing was disturbed when I returned. She seems to like the company of my dogs, but she doesn't engage them in any way. She has learned to sit and get treats...she takes them very gently. She seems to take everything in stride. What a nice girl.

After work, I took her for a walk with one of my dogs, we went a little over a mile and she did great. They are re-doing the streets around our house, and the heavy machinery did not bother her in the least. She walks great! I still can't believe she's 12 years old.

She has chosen a dog bed in the bedroom for hers. She has slept in it both of the nights she's been here. I'll try to get a picture, but she doesn't really settle into it until after the lights are out....it's very cute. She's getting into our routine....I think she's very happy. She's a typical golden in all respects...she is laying within two feet of me as I type. If I get up, she'll get up and follow.

We go to the vet at the end of the week...I'll update again after our appointment.

Princess fits in with her two foster brothers....

When I tell her to stay, she always lays down.

Princess is more of a hunter than my guys....she seems to be stalking someone in my yard in this picture.
