We have a new girlfriend at our house and her name is Bella! She is a beautiful eight year old purebred GR. She was raised since a puppy by a family who decided to surrender her as she does not do well with little kids and they have three under the age of two. She is rather afraid of very young children and tries her best to avoid them. She is a real lover to anyone over the age of ten. She loves to take walks. One of her favorite games is to carry her ball on walks and pretend to accidently drop it, but as soon as you make a motion to pick it up she quickly retrieves it. If you’re lucky you can kick it ahead and watch her chase it. She loves to play fetch, but isn’t too good about the “drop” part.

She is well behaved, but she does bark and growl when she hears someone in your yard or at the front door. She knows the primary commands sit, stay, come, high five, and even roll over.

Bella has some health issues that we are evaluating. She has a mild seizure disorder that requires her to take medicine, but that doesn’t stop her from being a loving and energetic senior. She has some intermittent stiffness and limping, especially if she overdoes her activity. She has shown much improvement while taking some pain medicine. She came to us with an ear hematoma and ear infections, both of which are improving. She is currently unavailable until we resolve all her health issues and know their appropriate treatments.

Bella would be best in a house with no small children.

For the past couple of weeks we have been weaning Bella off of her phenobarbitol .She is down to a very small dose and has not been having any seizures. Since decreasing her seizure medicine she has had more energy. So there is more teasing, tugging, and fetching! Bella loves to sit out on our front porch and watch the cars and people go by and feel the wind on her face. She could sit out there for hours. She sleeps on my daughter’s bed every night in her own special spot. She’s not a big snuggler, but in the morning she will lay on top of you and lick your face to wake you up. We have had her play with other dogs and she seems fine with them. She is well behaved on our walks. You wouldn’t even need her on a leash. Bella is a real easy dog to care for and would be great for an older couple or a family with older children.
