So everyone, allow me to introduce you to Cory Crawford~~the sweetest 8 month old pup out there!  He came into RAGOM from Iowa after being rescued from running free with a couple of black lab pups.  I wonder about this guys real history because he has been a perfect gentleman since getting here and just does not have the traits of a dog that has been on his own for 8 months!  However, we will never know so all I can do is share with you what I do know.  Firstly, he is beautiful!  His eyes are like golden marbles with dark eyeliner all the way around.  He is a mixture of the blonde and red variety, his ears are darker than the rest of him.  His feathers are starting to develop and I think they have grown some since being here with us for a week.  He has no aggression issues, could care less about our cat, does not chew things, beg, or steal food from my preschooler.  He is unsure about the vaccuum and preferred to wait upstairs on the landing while I vaccuumed, he just laid there and watched me was all.  Riding in the car is a work in progress--on his transport here from Sioux Falls, he threw up in John's car and on Thursday he went to the vet and pee'd in my car.  That being said, we have taken several trips since then and there has been no issues so I think it was simply nerves and lack of experience of riding in a car. We are very vigilant about taking him outside to go potty and have had only one accident in the house on his second day here.  He has free roam of the house overnight and have had no accidents.  During the day while we are at work, he is in his kennel, which he does NOT like and will bark (and bark and bark).  We are working on this...we feed him in his kennel where he goes willingly to eat, but wants out immediately after.  I honestly think he'd be fine left out during the day, but we are trying to train him to go in and enjoy it.  Our expectations might be a little high on this one!Cory is a mellow dog, wants to be wherever you are and will follow you from room to room--but he just lies down once he gets there.  He is not as playful as some 8 month old dogs I have known, but he likes to play fetch and is learning to bring it all the way back to you instead of just dropping somewhere in the middle. Cory is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations, just needs a booster shot on the 24th.  When I had him into the vet for his surgery I mentioned that he sometimes "swing's" his right rear leg out so I have sent radiographs to the foster director who is forwarding them to the RAGOM vet for an evaluation.  We hope to hear something soon.   So, who would like to share the summer vacations with an adorable, mellow, and oh so smart fellow???

So, we took our first adventure the the lake cabin this weekend.  Other than Cory eating an entire bowl of cat food he did AWESOME!  He loved being outside all day with everybody and going on nature walks to gather firewood and bugs (I have boys, the uglier the bug, the better!)  He also was met on our walk by two very loud barking dogs that came flying at us down the road...friendly dogs, but still the introduction was not how I would have orchestrated it!  He met them both with flying colors, I was very pleased!  He also spent the weekend with 3 cats and a chiuahua and the only thing he was remotely interested in was a little chipmunk trying to get to his nest.  Cory just enjoyed cutting him off at the pass...so we moved his tether a few feet over so the little chipmunk could go home.

At night, we had a great bonfire and he just layed right next to us with our resident dog Sam.  We were sure to keep the S'more fixings away from him as I have no doubt whatsoever that he would have gobbled them up in a heartbeat!  He really seemed to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and tranquility of a night at the lake!

Cory has a potential family coming to meet him on Saturday.  Paws crossed!!!!!!

Enjoy the pictures...I think they say more than I ever could!
