Jake (Junior 11-150)

If you are looking for your new BFF, I've found him!! Junior is everything you could ever want in a best friend, good listener, sympathetic, understanding, and he'll bump your hand to pet him when you need to calm your nerves. This guy's got it all. He had a long ride to get to my house from St Paul. He met many different people and traveled in at least 4 different vehicles, and he took it all in stride. After he got to my home, he met big and little dogs, (my Chihuahua is 5 pounds), and my cats. (See picture of Parker giving him a "cat scan") Again, nothing fazed him, he met them all with his tail wagging.
He is very calm, loves to lay by your feet (foot warmer this winter). He knows some commands, sit, down, shake, he also sits "pretty" up on his haunches. Behaves very well in the car, and is house trained. This guy is the whole package. Junior is 3 years old, will be 4 July 1st. He is also a big guy, 80 pounds, maybe we could get him on the TV show "The Biggest Loser"!
Junior was very accommodating when I brushed him, he loved it! I offered him a treat and he took it very gently. I fed him his supper and when he was done he burped to let me know it was good. LOL! I have a fenced yard, when I let him out he did his business and checked out all the pee mails from my dogs. I LOVE this guy!
But, unfortunately, along with the good, there is some not so good I must mention.......in Junior's previous life he was chained outside in a trailer park. He may have been teased by kids while living there. He was rescued by a family with 7 kids and has done well while with them. However, if he feels trapped by the kids he will try to escape if at all possible. He actually did bite the kids on two occasions. But three years with seven kids and only two bites (both which caused two stitches – which is pretty small), is pretty good. On one occasion, a toddler was walking past him, he was sleeping and toddler fell on him and startled him. Second occasion was when the six-year old (who has some special needs) cornered him in a bedroom and tried to give him a hug. Because of this RAGOM is insisting that Junior be adopted by a family with older kids, or an adult only home. I am an obedience instructor and have put this guy through the ringer to see how he would react. I've opened his mouth and checked his teeth, which are pearly white by the way, I've pulled on his tail, pulled on his ears, pestered him while he was eating, touched him on every part of his body, (and I do mean EVERY part!!) with no reaction what so ever! I blocked him from going past me on the steps, and I blocked him in a corner behind my recliner. On both of those occasions he did his best to get past me, no lip lifting, growling or ANY other signs of aggression. Once he got by me he was all about giving me some loving. So, the only flaw I can find in this hunka-hunka burning love is to not make him feel trapped, other then that one teeny tiny flaw he is perfect!!
If you think Junior is who you've been looking for your whole life, please contact your placement advisor. I can guarantee you won't be sorry! :)
