Ozzie 11-124

Profile

Hello RAGOM World!  Let me introduce to you Ozzie!  Ozzie came to our house a little over a week ago and has been settling in great!  We have learned lots of things about Ozzie since he arrived here in West Des Moines.

First off, Ozzie is a ball of fire!  He loves to play, not just for a few minutes here and there, but I mean from the time he wakes up in the morning until it is time to go to bed.  The first thing he does as he goes out side to use the bathroom, is to find his ball so he can carry it with him while he finds that perfect spot!  One thing that really amazes me is that Ozzie will return the ball to who ever throws it for him.  In the past even with our own resident dogs if our daughter would throw the ball, they would return it to us, not her.  But with Ozzie, he brings the ball back to ever throws it which is quite impressive if you ask me.  He even tries to get a twin 6 month old daughters to throw it.  They are not too impressed but it is cute to watch.

In the past Ozzie has had some seizures, though not violant shaking seirzures they are still siezures and we needed to get him checked out and on some medication.  Ozzie went to the Vet on Tuesday and got checked out.  Overall he is in pretty good health!  He does have some slightly elevated liver levels and thus they are putting him on a different seizure medication.  We have not gotten the meds yet as they needed to order them in.  As soon as I know the correct name of the meds we will let you know.  Also, he does have some tartar build up that needs to be addressed, but he looks good.  He weighs in at just over 35lbs.

As you can tell from the picture, Ozzie is not a purebreed Golden, in looking at him we see Irish Setter, Golden and Lab all mixed in there.

Since coming to our house, Ozzie has been working on some basic commands, he knows sit and shake very well, but we are working on laying down and staying.  We also thought it woud be good if Ozzie learned to like a kennel.  When we left Ozzie the first couple days he had an accident in the house.  I am not sure if it was because the nervusness of a new place or if that is just what he does so we got him a kennel.  He goes in easily and the longest we have left him so far has been 5 hours and he was perfect.

Stay tuned for more updates on Ozzie!
