Hi folks, it's me Annie.  Guess what, I'm back in RAGOM land.  I was adopted a few months ago but things did not work out for me as I had hoped.  Here's what happened and why I am now looking for a new forever family to call my own.......

I was invited to a graduation party with lots of people and a resident dog. I did well at the party (love, love the people) but I was a bit nervous around all the noise and commotion so I hung out inside for most of the time.  When I finally went back outside I growled at the resident dog who kept getting too close to me and well, since he did not move away in time, I bit him on the nose.  I had met him before and we were fine together so I guess the stress of so many people and and all the noise at the party just got the best of me. My new family did not feel like they had enough experience to work with me so they decided to return me to RAGOM.

See I did not have proper socialization before I came into RAGOM, I lived my entire life in an outdoor kennel run by myself.  I need proper introductions with other dogs and sometimes need help in remembering how to meet and greet them and what are good manners.  When I lived at my foster home I got along great with Lacy, the resident dog but she and I worked things out and foster mom was really good about making sure we were ok together.  I'm fine meeting dogs when we are out walking, just have to make sure we get to sniff each other first....don't like it when they get in my face....but hey, do you humans like it when someone you've never met comes up and gets right in your face...I don't think so!!  Well, me neither.

So now I am hanging out in boarding at Stone Mountain where the staff is really nice to me and I'm waiting for a foster home to take me in.  I'd really rather be in a home so I could hang out on the couch, watch TV and go for walks when ever I wanted but right now I'm ok to be in boarding.  The staff loves me and tells me everyday what a sweet, beautiful girl I am.  Many of our RAGOM volunteers stop by to walk me and some even buy me treats but there is nothing like living in a home.

I do need an experienced owner who is able to work with me on proper doggie introductions.  In return I promise to give you lots of love and attention and will be your new best friend.  I can live with another dog, we just need to make sure it is a good fit but I'd also be very happy to be your one and only....more pets and loves for me!!  I am available to meet potential adoptive families so do not hesitate to contact your placement adviser if you are looking for a sweet lab girl.  We can make special arrangements for me to meet you even if I'm still hanging out in boarding....cause I'm one very special girl who is looking for one very special forever home.....could that be you???

Bye for now, your friend Annie.

Hi Annie fans!  I just had to share this picture of Annie sleeping on her bed in my office--she's such a cute monkey girl!  It took her a few days to figure out she could use this bed, but now it's one of her favorite places to be, probably because I'm always in here on the computer (thank to my thesis!).   Annie is such a good office mate; she nudges my elbow when she needs to go out or wants some love, otherwise she's content to sleep and chew on one of her many rawhides.  Wouldn't you love to have Annie come keep you company, too?

Life with Annie continues to be peachy keen!  Annie greets every day with a smile and a wag and goes to bed every night with a happy little sigh--she is one sunshine girl, through and through.  We've learned that she can destuff a toy in five seconds flat and that peanut butter is a most appreciated treat, especially when smeared on a milkbone! She stays with us in our yard (no fence needed!) and kindly ignores the yappy little dog next door.

I think the only thing Annie needs to make her life perfect is that one family that will love her for the rest of her days.  I've talked to a few potential families, but the one issue that arises time after time is that Annie is not a Golden.  I know, I know--you're here at RAGOM because you want a GR, right?  You want a dog that's loyal, loving, smart and kind?  A dog that needs you just as much as you need them?   Annie is all of those things and so much more, but because she doesn't fit an image or is a different breed, she's being overlooked.  I understand that we all have preferences, but I also know that when we open our eyes (and our hearts) to new things, beauty and love appear before us.  Won't you open your eyes and see sweet Annie?  She's waiting for you!

Hi hi hi!  It's me, Annie Bananie here to tell you all about my favorite thing to do: FETCH!

Oh, I love to play fetch so much!  I like to runrunrun as fast as I can to pick up the ball.

Sometimes I get too excited and start running before you throw the ball.  That just means I have to use my super strong smeller to figure out where it landed.

After a few minutes I get a little winded and have to take a quick rest on my way back to you.  I am 8, you know!

I'll get right back up when you call me, though, and we can play for about another ten minutes or so before I'm completely pooped.

My foster family plays fetch with me two or three times a day and FM says my stamina is getting better.  I don't know what stamina is, but if it's anything like a tennis ball, then it's got to be something good!  Do you think you'd like to play fetch with me?

Miss Annie had a good weekend at her new foster's home--but I think her happiness might have had something to do with the shank bone FD bought her at the meat market!

She loves to have her bones and chewies around her and tends to carry them from room to room as she follows us around.  Annie is definitely a velcro dog, and who could blame her? After living in an outdoor kennel and then going to boarding, she wants to make sure she keeps her humans in sight at all times.  She's not annoying, though, and will just lie down and sleep (or chew!) at your feet while you do your thing.  We don't allow her  on the furniture, but then again, she's never asked!  Annie has wonderful manners and responds well to what little correction she's needed, which was mainly begging at the dinner table.

We're starting to think that Miss Annie was trained at one point in her life, because old gal LOVES to fetch!  I haven't yet gotten a picture of her outside, but you can be sure that she's most happy running around with a ball in her mouth!  Annie appears to be a very, very smart dog who just hasn't had the chance to exercise her brain (or her body) in a long time.  We have a reedy, grassy pond at the end of our lot, and Annie has been the first of our dogs to find a way in the water--she's got her nose to the ground, searching out the geese and ducks that live among the grasses. What amazed me, though, was as soon as I called to her, she responded and came right back to me.  Now I don't know anything about hunting dogs, but considering Annie came in with her AKC paperwork, shows a lot of confidence in the fields and grasses, and has no fear of loud sounds--maybe we're looking at a dog that at one point was trained to hunt?  Regardless, Annie has the ability to become a phenomenal dog (regardless of her age) and would blossom with the right environment.

I will work on getting those outdoor pictures up soon, but in the meantime...you know the drill!  If you're an approved applicant and want to give this old gal the second chance she so richly deserves, call your Placement Coordinator today.

Hey Mom!  Me and Annie want to come in now please!

I would like to introduce you to my new friend Annie Bannanie!

Silly Annie Bannanie was sleeping next to my bed and I was able to sneak a picture of her (see below).  Is she just the cutest girl or what?  She is so sweet and absolutely loves the attention that she is getting at my house.  She has grown fond of my oldest son and when I came home the other day he had propped her up onto the couch and they were doing some bonding.  He just adores her and they are getting very close.  She has been really good with my dogs - ignores them pretty much.  She loves to eat, sleep, walk and get scratches.  We also cat tested her and she just ignores them.

I see Annie in a home where she gets the love she needs, her meals and her adored walks.  Like most doggies, she just loves her walks.  She is in "sniffing heaven" grasping all the smells.  She does not chase squirrels or even want to say hi to other doggies.  She just runs from tree to tree to bush to bush to get her allotted amount of smelling in for the day.

Annie would love to have a home to call her own.  She is just a love bug and will give you love back ten-fold.  She so deserves to live her remaining years with a family that loves and adores her.  Well, they all deserve it but she missed out for so many years that she has a lot of making up to do.

Annie Bananie came to our home yesterday after being in boarding for a couple of months – poor girl. The only reason she was there was because of her one issue with the resident dog. This girl spent the first 8 years of her life in a dog run all by herself. No human contact. No other canine contact. Imagine being locked in a room all by yourself for 8 years or the equivalent the following: 2,920 days or 70,080 hours or 4,204,800 minutes. Imagine then what it would be like to go from that to a home with humans, canine and commotion. I would have been scared too. Annie’s reaction was not out of aggression but one out of fear.

When I picked up Annie a wonderful volunteer (thanks Denise) met me so Annie could meet my dogs. I was more concerned about my Stella who is my RAGOM dog (my 36th foster) as Stella is insecure and like to be the boss. Stella was fine other than she wanted to jump out of her furr to say hi. Annie and my Penny went nose to nose and only a little growl from each and they both moved on. As you can see from the one picture from the car ride home everyone got along.

Little Miss Annie loves to explore and walk and so off we went for a long walk last night. She is just so excited to smell and explore. I just smiled wondering what she was thinking about what was happening to her. Other than the walk, we kept it pretty calm and hung out in the yard and played. Poor Annie walked into my glass door a couple of times not knowing that there was anything there.

Annie is a sweetheart. She was the favorite at the boarding facility. She just wants to have a family that she can be with for the rest of her life. She deserves to live the rest of her life with a loving family as she missed out on that for 8 years or the equivalent the following: 2,920 days or 70,080 hours or 4,204,800 minutes….well, you get the idea.

Annie on her way to a new life…
