"In memory of Athena and Zera"
Sending you prayers, good thoughts and lots of love from Rebecca
Let’s welcome RAGOM’s newest elder! Breezer is an 8 year old that has a red, curly coat and a beautiful white face. She came into RAGOM through no fault of her own. Her previous owner could no longer care for her or Bella 11-087 due to some financial/health difficulties. He loved these girls and he was all they knew. Needless to say, this girl has been a little stressed trying to get accustomed to a new routine, another dog and two young children.
When we met transport (THANK YOU) Saturday, the girls (Breezer and Bella 11-087) hopped right into our minivan and Breezer made her way between my two girls, she felt safe with them and was so gentle. My girls loved it! When we got home we did the dog introductions, however, Breezer and our resident dog did not see eye to eye. There are been some disagreements between our resident and Breezer, so we have a new routine, where Breezer and our resident have their own space or supervised.
Breezer went to the vet today. She is spayed, weighs 72lbs, HW neg, UTD and was already microchipped. She does have a fatty tumor on her leg, but the vet is not worried about it, she has a couple of ‘skin tags’/tumor on her tongue, eye lid and top of her head. Again, the vet wasn’t worried. The vet said that it looks as though a tooth was extracted and her teeth are worn down. If she went in for a dental clean possible more extractions, the ‘skin tags’ could be removed. In her paperwork it states that she had a stroke at age 5 or 6, however, there are no lasting effects except for a head tilt that you can see when she is tired.
Breezer is a sweet girl. She loves her humans, loves to be pet, loves car rides, is great with kids (we have a 3 and 6 yr old), walks great on a gentle leader, knows sit, stay, drop, down (used to be a hunting dog) back in the day, enjoys Bella 11-087 (who is her niece), they have played tug-a-war and drink out of the same bowl. It would be nice if Breezer and Bella 11-087 were adopted together, but is not necessary.
As stated above, Breezer and my resident do not get along. I am not sure if it is an alpha thing or my dog, so if there are other dogs in the home, we would have to see if she got along with them. She likes to be at the table when we are eating so we have her lay down so she is not waiting for the table scraps. She doesn’t need a fence though I am sure she would like to run around. It does state that she has some storm/firework anxiety, but wants to be by you if that happens. She is kenneled during the day when we are away.
