Parker 10-370

Profile

Parker is an 11 month old male that was rescued along with 38 other dogs from a puppy mill closure. Parker met all the dogs here, big and small, and did great. He was very scared at first, but has started to come out of his shell. He enjoys running around the backyard with the dogs. At first, he was hesitant if I reached out to pet his neck. Now, he’s charging up with everyone else to get petted (wish I had more arms). His safe spot is his kennel and we’ll find him in there relaxing with the door open. He loves chew toys and he also likes to surround himself with things with our scent on them. If you leave a pair of shoes on the floor, you will find them in his kennel. He doesn’t chew on them, just brings them in with him. He didn’t know how to go up and down stairs at first, but now happily runs up and down. He was also scared to go through the door to outside, but now goes out without any hesitation.

Parker’s temperament is very sweet. He’ll be a wonderful, loving friend for some lucky family. Coming from a puppy mill, he will need another dog in his home to be his support dog, a physical fence, and no children under the age of 10.

We adopted Crissy in 2003 and added Parker in 2011.  They are the best of buddies!  They love playing and looking for chipmunks in the backyard.  I caught them in a "Kodak moment" as they paused to listen for the chipmunk they were chasing and luckily I had my iPhone with me. When we say "chipmunks!", Crissy gets excited and she bounces her front feet up and down or clicks her teeth as we open the door for the dogs to go outside.  Parker has a strategic approach, he runs to the deck railing and scans the backyard before heading down the stairs to look for them.

Both dogs are best friends with our resident cat Morris and tolerate his grooming sessions with them.

Parker still has a lot of wonderful "puppy" in him and loves exploring in the house looking for something to carry around.  I've been able to determine whether he has picked up his own toys or something he shouldn't have by the sound of his prance.  Yes, he prances, almost like a show horse.  He'll disappear to go treasure hunting and upon his return I'll hear his big paws coming down the hallway.  His prance is much more pronounced and proud when he has a shoe, shirt, sock, hat or any number of other things he shouldn't have.  Wherever he decides to lay down after "the hunt", he will have one of his treasures by his side, whether it's Crissy or a toy.

A huge thank-you to RAGOM for all you do in helping Golden's find the Golden Life.  We LOVE our RAGOM dogs!
