Kole has been with us for a week now and he continues to be a very calm puppy. It took almost 5 days for my resident goldies to allow Kole into their inner circle of play and now they occasionally play and wrestle together. It is so fun to watch. Perhaps the funniest part of all this is Kole’s clumsiness. When he is running with the other dogs, he is always looking back at them and then runs smack into things like chairs, trees, people, etc. When he isn’t running into things, he will run directly in the path of the other dogs feet and then he ends up getting barrel rolled. Well, eventually he’ll get the hang of his body and feet. But, he seems to love it all and keeps coming back for more.
Kole took his first tentative steps into the river this week and seems to like the concept of water. He is very trusting of his people and will follow in after a short assessment of his situation. He continues to enjoy visiting lots of people and had an opportunity to visit a bunch of kids at my son’s school- they were just loving him and he sat there so nicely without jumping up at all. We have started to go for walks along our normal route in the mornings and Kole just totters along beside me on the quiet country lane. After the long walk, he enjoys laying in the baby pool we set up for the dogs. I think he thinks it is the worlds largest water dish.
Kole continues to be a total sweetie pie and is learning sit and down with the help of dog treats or cheerios. He is quiet all night in his crate (except for last night when he whined and barked at 3:30 am and I came to find a poopy mess in the crate). It is clear that he doesn’t like making messes in his crate but sometimes, you just can’t help it! The only bad thing I have noticed about Kole is that he has coprophagia and will readily eat his fresh messes if you don’t act quickly. There’s nothing like cleaning up poo at 3:30 am! But, I told him I know he didn’t mean to do it.
Well, stay tuned to more updates on Mr. Kole.
