March 25, 2010: We picked up Finn on Saturday, and I must say, he is one easy foster to have around. He is a purebred Golden Retriever, and will be 2 years old on June 14th. He came to Ragom from a family that had 6 children, and they just felt that they did not have enough time to give him the attention that he needs. He loves other dogs, and loves people of all ages. We have had him on many outings with our resident dogs, and he is very social, and wants to be part of the daily routine. He has a lot of energy, and is more than willing to go on as many walks as we will take. He does pull with a flat collar, but is doing great with the gentle leader. He didn't quite know how to play with our girls, at first, but now is playing just like the rest of the pack. He also found that we have a lot of toys here, and wasn't aware that when you step on them, they squeak. He is not destructive with them, he just likes to carry them around.
Finn is very polite when he is being fed. He sits nicely, and doesn't start eating until I say its ok. He doesn't try to get into the other dogs food, and takes treats very gentle. He has had obedience training, and is easily corrected. He shows no interest in cats, so he could go to a home with a cat. He has been in a home with children of all ages, and is great with them. He does not need a fenced yard, and is very good about going out on a leash, or tie out. He could go to a home with or without another dog.
We went to the vet on Monday, and he weighs 76.9 pounds, and the vet thought a good weight would be about 70 lbs, so we will be working on getting that down.
He is very handsome, and a very loving boy.
Finn will be at Leashes and Leads on Saturday, so if you would like to meet him, please stop by. I promise, you will fall in love with him.
