Let me introduce you to, Cody, a new member of the RAGOM family. Cody came to our home a week ago from MN. Cody was born 4/6/08 so he will be 2 years old in April. He has the large block head and is absolutely gorgeous. He recently went to the vet and is up to date on all of his vaccines. He does have a touch of ear infection for which he is currently being treated. Cody weighs 75 lbs and is the perfect size. He may look skinny, but the vet assured me he was not underfed. Here is what we know about Cody so far.......

His surrendering family was quite large (7 children) and they could no longer give Cody the attention he needs and deserves. He is good with children that are dog savvy, but can act like a "bull in a china shop" and may scare little ones. He is good with both male and female dogs. He knows how to sit and we are currently working on lay down. He will pull on a leash so we are training with the Gentle Leader. He does not care for this much, but I think with a lot of practice he will master this easily. He likes to bark for attention. He will however quiet down with redirection (toy, sometimes saying hush, being pet). Because of his large head he drools. So if that disgusts you, you definitely do not want Cody as a forever family member. I usually just wipe his mouth off occasionally and that seems to help. :) He loves to play and is very energetic. He is house trained and crate trained. We let him have free roam while we are home and until bed and then he is crated. We tried to leave him out the other night and he howled at the moon, but was quiet when we returned him to his crate (go figure). We do not have cats, but while at the vet he passed a cat and was just interested in what it was. The vet said he did great. He will jump up if he feels you are not paying him enough attention or if you are new to him, so he will definitely need continued training once he finds his forever home. Cody is a messy eater. I think he gets more water outside the bowl than in his mouth. He will even lay down and stick his face in the bowl to drink his water. Silly dog! :)

He has done great overall adjusting to our life. I think he has an awesome temperament would make a great addition to any family willing to continue to train Cody on proper behavior and show him the ropes. Cody will be neutered on Monday and they will place his microchip at that time. After that he will be ready to find his forever home. Hello Everyone! Sorry we haven't checked in lately. I need to update you on what's been happening with our sweet boy! He is totally up to date on his vaccines and his ear infections are gone. He has lost a little weight and weighs 73lbs now. The vet said that it is perfect for him and his build.

We are continuing to work on his training and he is doing well. We still need to continue to work on his use of the gentle leader. He still is still trying to remove it when it is on. I think with added training he will master this. It is just now getting warm enough for us to get outside and work on it a little more. He has been great around the kids and gets along with beautifully with our dogs. I am truly surprised that he hasn't been adopted yet. I guess that just means we get to keep him longer. :) He still makes a mess with his water and I have no idea on how to change that. Sorry! :)

I don't know what else to say about him except that he is so sweet and would make a great addition to any family. He really deserves a family that will continue to guide him and show him unconditional love (which he will return to you). I am adding a couple more pictures of Cody for your viewing pleasure. Hello Everyone! I wanted to check in and let everyone know that Cody was neutered and microchipped on Monday. He did great with his surgery. He was licking his incision so unfortunately he has to wear the "cone of shame" until he is healed. We are still giving him his ear medication so his ear infection should be taken care of soon. We have been getting tons of compliments on how beautiful he is. He is actually a very gorgeous golden. He is also a very sweet dog. He has calmed down a lot since his surgery. Although I don't know if it's because of his surgery, he is now used to our routine, or because he has to wear the cone. We will just have to see how he does once the cone comes off! :)

We are continuing to work on Cody's manners. He is doing well with commands and I think will continue to excel with additional training. He still hates the Gentle Leader, but we will continue to work on that as well. If anyone is interested in our sweet and gorgeous boy please contact placement to arrange a meeting.
