I think I hit the foster jackpot with this guy!! Murphy (original RAGOM name is Jarek) is a 76 lb Golden Retriever mix who was returned to RAGOM due to a change in his family situation. Murphy is almost 3 years old (DOB 7/4/09). He is being fostered in St. Anthony. He is the sweetest dog I have ever met!! He will meet you with tail wags and roll over for a belly rub.

  • LOVES kids! Would probably be best with older (8 and up) kids due to his size.
  • LOVES other dogs!! My resident dog is a 15lb dachshund. Their size difference makes playing a bit difficult. Murphy would do best with a mid to large size dog.
  • No counter surfing
  • Stays off the furniture
  • Very well trained. Understands sit, stay, no, leave it, etc.
  • LOVES toys!! The squeakier the better!!
  • Rarely barks—didn’t bark when someone came to the door
  • LOVES to be outside. We have a fenced yard, not sure if he would stay w/o a fence.
  • LOVES walks! He needs some work when it comes to walking—tends to pull. A Gentle Leader might solve that issue. (The one I have is too small for him.) He might be a good jogging buddy.
  • Respects baby gates and can be left home alone with no issues.

Murphy is looking for a family that will play with him and give him exercise. He was at the vet yesterday and he is in great condition. His vaccines were brought up to date and he is ready for his forever home!

First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to Laura K!!! The butterfly really made my day!! Murphy sends some tail wags and kisses your way, too!!

We are having a great time with Murphy. He continues to show us how sweet he is. His favorite place to sleep is under the table, close to the air conditioner vent. He loves being outside. The neighbors have all commented on how quiet he is! He’s also shown us a few of his “tricks”: He loves to take things out of the bath tub (wash cloths and a pumice stone), he has dug a few small holes in the yard/garden, he will un-stuff and de-squeak toys in record time, and he would love to chase the squirrels and rabbits we see on our walks.

Murphy has gotten to play with a couple of dogs that are closer to his size than the resident doxie. He LOVES to play with other dogs!!! He also likes playing with my 11 year old son—they play tug of war and Murphy will drag my son around the room.

Good times all around! I am taking Murphy on a little road trip to meet a family on July 4th. He has already met their dog and they got along fabulously!! I am not sure how he is with cats, so I am taking him to their house to see how he does. Let’s hope he likes cats (and sheep)!!!

I just can’t say enough about this sweet, sweet dog!! We are having a blast but I can’t wait for him to find his forever home!

I have taken him to a couple of youth soccer games at the park and everyone loves him. He really enjoys all the attention!! And everyone comments about what a good looking, well behaved dog he is. He does great in the car. We are currently taking 2 walks a day-once in the morning and once in the evening. He LOVES those walks and he needs them because of all his energy. We also play fetch in the backyard several times a day. He has really enjoyed all the toys we’ve given him to play with and he keeps bringing them outside (and I round them up in the evening). Tug of war is by far his favorite game! Imagine me in the middle with him on one side and the 15lb doxie on the other—playing tug with each one. It’s quite a sight, I’m sure!

Murphy was an only dog before he came to live with us. He really enjoys being around my dog and would LOVE a doggie playmate but it’s not necessary. He’d be perfectly happy being the only dog, too. I left Murphy home alone for 7 hours last night and he did great!
