Maggie came in to Ragom on Sunday Oct 4th. Her SO could not provide the attention and energy that Maggie desired. She is a beautiful, kind, and loving golden. She warms up to anyone that is kind enough to give her attention. She weighed in at 63 lbs and the vet says this is a healthy weight for her.  Maggie will be 6 years old in December. She is house trained and had free roam of the house while her SO were at work.  She is also crate trained.

Maggie is a very easy going golden. She has been introduced to numerous animals in the neighborhood and besides wanting to chase the occasion rabbit, found to be okay with everyone. She adores car rides and playing ball (working on the giving the ball back part but got the retrieving part down).

Her visit to the vet this week was not as pleasant of an experience as we hoped - she will get up to date on her shots and be spayed once her kidney levels improve (her levels were higher than the vet wanted to see), however testing positive for lymes may be the reason so Maggie is getting treatment over the course of the next two weeks to see if we can battle the lymes and help her kidney levels lower to a more normal rate.

I will continue giving progress updates on Maggie while treating her the next few weeks. She will make a great addition to a family with kids (or without) but in her opinion- the more hands to pet her- the better :)
Thank you for considering Maggie as a possible addition to your home. Please check back in a few weeks to check her progress.

Hey Everyone Maggie here-

Just wanted to drop a line and say I have been enjoying every minute of this wonderful weather.  I enjoy going swimming at the lake nearby and found it is a great way to cool off after ball playing with my foster mom. Oh another great invention- the kiddie pool for the backyard which I make sure to stop at frequently to cool off while playing ball. Besides that not much new, I am enjoying each day to its fullest having play dates with my friends Ender, Champ and Sadie.  Please continue to watch for updates as I will try to write more often!

Love Always, Maggie

Hey everyone Maggie here! Just showing you how cute I am!!!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Hello-

Maggie has been a great addition to my home.  For those following this special girl, you may have noticed that my Magster has been listed as unavailable up until now. We used this time to better understand what Maggie’s health needs are and to see if she could potentially be eligible for a forever home.

Soon after Maggie came in to my care, we went to the vet her first check up.  Not only did she test positive for lymes disease (which she was treated for), she also has high kidney levels. There is no way of knowing if this was something she was born with or something that came on later in life. Since Maggie has been staying with me, she has been on a special prescription diet to help keep her kidney levels down.  Her vet also prescribed daily antibiotics which she has no problem taking with her food.  With both of these precautions, Maggie has maintained a healthy and happy lifestyle thus far. Now the vet is uncertain how long Maggie has but it is up to us to give this girl the best life she can have while she has it.

Because of these initial health concerns, Maggie has not yet been spayed.  This is because there is more risk for dogs like Maggie; however, before she can go to her forever home she will need to be spayed.

Please contact your placement advisor if you wish to receive more information on Maggie.  We know there is a perfect family for Maggie out there.

AND I recently attended my first event and had a great time -  soo many friendly people came to pet me.  I can't wait to go to more. Well look for me at future events! I look forward to meeting you.

Hey everyone - Maggie here - Like my holiday antlers? My foster mom thought I looked adorable so I wanted to show everyone how cute I was on Christmas.

As far as my health goes, I am doing well - I love the snow and wish I could stay out there all day but my foster mom won't let me.

Well look for me at future events - my foster mom says she wants me to get out & visit at events here soon.

Hey Everyone!  First off- Special Thank you to Maggie's sponsors! She sends puppy kisses your way :)

Maggie is doing great - She is still trying to catch up on sleep since she had a long holiday weekend of fun and play time.

Some things I've gotten to know about Maggie -
1) she LOVES water (ponds, pools, lakes- if she can wade in it she is one happy golden)
2) she LOVES kids not sure if its the food, the energy, or the attention but she is glued to them when we go for walks -
3) she snorts! Its hilarious.... brings a smile to my face everytime I hear it.
4) she is always one happy pup - her tale never stops wagging a mile a minute.
5) one final note about Maggie she LOVES all the attention she can get :)

- Please continue to keep Maggie in your prayers over the holidays and we hope to meet you at a future event!

Hey Everyone – Maggie here.  Sorry it has been a few weeks since my foster mom has wrote in an update.  Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers – since my last update I have been doing really good.  If you met me you wouldn’t even know I am sick.  I went for a check up at the vet this week and had my blood work done.  Looks like my meds are helping because my kidney levels came down a bit.  I got another round of meds so hopefully they will continue to make me feel better so I can keep up with my play buddy Ender.  My foster mom thought it would be funny to post this picture of me playing with her exercise ball – all I wanted to do was some stretching.  Thanks again and maybe I will run into you at an event soon.

Hey Everyone.  Thanks for keeping Maggie in your thoughts & prayers the last few weeks.  We made another trip to the vet this afternoon to get a check up to see if her kidney levels improved.  I say with much sadness that her spirits are still here however her kidney levels took a turn in the wrong direction.  The vet says a full recovery does not look optimistic but I am determined to give this darling girl a loving and happy life for as long as she is with me.

On a happier note Maggie enjoyed her new food she that she got today and while I was cutting up an apple for myself, I found she enjoys them just as much (or possibly more) than me because one minute it was in my lap and the next she was in my lap helping herself to my apple! Oh and if you’re wondering, I of course let her have the apple- I wasn’t about to eat it anymore!

Maggie will be on some more medications over the next few weeks in hopes a system detox may help extend her time with us.  If you’d like to sponsor Maggie to assist with her special diet, medications, and future treatments please visit RAGOM’s home page and click on DONATE.

Of course I will continue to give updates on Maggie even though she is not currently available for adoption.  Thank you again for keeping Maggie in your thought and prayers.
