Tucker arrived on Monday night and immediately made himself at home. Tucker is 10 years old, around 95 lbs, and has the most handsome face. I was amazed that he did not have the typical white face. He has big brown eyes that just make you melt.

Tucker loves people, wants to be close but is not needy. There are two things that Tucker will need in his new home though. The first is to be able to sleep next to the bed at night and the second is to have very few stairs.

He can easily do a couple stairs but more than that is difficult for him.

Tucker does have some issues with his back right leg and is on deramaxx and Gerbapentin.

Tucker does get along with other dogs but needs to let them know he is not a pushover. He has this little growl that comes out when a new dog comes up to him or if he gets excited. The growl quits after the other dog ignores him. His little growl is very endearing.

Tucker even gets along with Smoozer, the Diva, who can be snooty at times.

More on Tucker as I get to know him.

Tucker sure is enjoying this cooler weather. I think he's wishing for snow so he can make snow angels.

Tucker has been helping me clean up the yard. He grabs sticks out of my pile of leaves and chews them up leaving a trail of stick bits from pile to pile.

As you can see from his newest photos he is a thinker. First he eyes the piles of leaves then runs in and grabs a stick all the while guarding the pile of leaves from those pesky squirrels and those trespassers who walk down his street.

It's a hard job but someone has to do it.

Tucker has been limping more on his back leg so we have increased his dosage of rimadyl. He is slow to get up and the step onto the deck is getting harder unless there is food involved and then he gets up quite quickly and can jump up onto the deck as if he were a kid again.

Tucker is quite a force to be reckoned with for my neighbor. If he is out working in his yard Tucker will run to the fence and demand attention. Of course my neighbor obliges and gives both Tucker and Smoozer many scratches. How can you not love that face!

Tucker has a warm and safe place to lay his head and he is wishing that everyone will look into their hearts and see how they can help a dog or cat in need of love, warmth and safety.

Have a happy and safe holiday season.

Happy summer everyone. I''ve been helping my foster mom work in her garden and when it is not too hot, we go for a short walk.

As you can see from my pictures, I'm more of a supervisor than a worker. It is just too darn hot to move even with my summer hair cut.

My foster mom fills my swimming pool with cold water and I like to stick my feet in there to cool off. She says I should lay down in the water but I don't like that idea.

I hope everyone is staying cool. See you at Goldzilla in September.

Sorry it has been so long since my last update. We have been very busy chasing the rabbits and squirrels out of the garden.

I mostly just hang out with my sister enjoying the nice weather. Foster mom says I would probably stay outside all night if she let me. I think she is teasing me because she knows I need to sleep next to her bed to make sure she is safe. I really like being outside but foster mom won't let me stay out when it is really hot, when I scare people when they walk by my fence or when she is not home.

Look at that handsome face. What kind of trouble does she think I will get into???

These new pictures show me enjoying what I love best -- Laying on the cold cement (so much better than that green stuff) and carrying my squeaky toy around.

I have to go rest up now because our friend Diesel is coming to stay with us and you know how exhausting it is to entertain.

Happy summer to everyone. Please start thinking about enjoying the great RAGOM picnic in September. I'll be the handsome golden barking at everyone for attention. Hope to see you there.

Tucker

p.s. Our friend Asa, the collie, brother to RAGOM foster Brandy 08-122, went to meet Brandy at the rainbow bridge last week. Asa we love you and miss you. I know Keeper and Brandy were there to meet you. RIP you handsome boy.

Tucker is doing his happy dance!! He has Spring tokens and he feels very special. Thank you for honoring this sweet sweet man.

These two pictures are of Tucker waiting for me to let him go play in the snow. As you can see he is patient for a bit but then he couldn't control himself and had to come over and make sure I noticed he was still IN THE HOUSE.

Tucker just loves this weather and will sit outside for hours. My deck is clear of snow but I find him sitting in a snowbank next to the deck just as content as can be.

He is beginning to have a more difficult time getting up but hopefully once we can take walks again he will build up his muscle and lose a little weight.

Tucker is starting to get a few streaks of white in his face. I guess at 11 1/2 yrs it is to be expected. He is still the most handsome man in the neighborhood.

Thank you again for the Spring tokens.

Happy Spring and Muddy Feet to everyone....

Tucker wants to thank Eunice and Pete Cote and Gracie for sponsoring him.

He feels very special and when I told him about his sponsor he went outside and ran a couple of loops around the yard and finished by making a snow angel.

FM wants to thank his sponsors also. Thank you for making Tucker feel special.

Happy Super Bowl Day!

Foster mom and I have been very busy the last few months shoveling snow and shoveling snow along with Christmas and New Years so we've been a little too tired to send updates. Sorry.

I'm sending you a picture of me enjoying the sunshine last summer because I'm getting tired of freezing my paws outside. I love rolling around in the snow but my paws get cold too quickly. Foster mom puts these sissy blue boots on my feet when it is really cold outside but I have to admit it does help keep my paws from freezing.

Those boots really help with traction when I'm running through our snow paths. I can really get going and maneuver those turns when Smoozer is chasing me.

The only thing new this year is that my medicine has been changed from Deramaxx to Rimadyl. I'm still the same old handsome, sweet boy who loves my belly rubs and squeaky toys.

I hear foster mom making food for the super bowl so I should go help her. She said she was going to let me and Smoozer have some snacks too. I just LOVE snacks.

Please say a lot of prayers and send any donation, if you can, for the puppies who have parvo. Foster mom says they deserve to get better and learn what love is all about.

Give your furr butts a hug and a belly rub and let them know that you love them.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!

I want to thank Riley D. and the anonymous person who gave me a Christmas token. I feel very special.

I've been busy helping foster mom move snow around. We spent a long time making trails through the yard so me and Smoozer could run around in the snow. When that first snow storm came through I thought I could run and roll in the snow. I quickly found out that I sink and foster mom had to help me out of the snow.

Foster mom took some pictures of me and Smoozer playing so I thought I would share them with you.

My wish for the new year is that all foster animals find their forever home and that they all feel safe, warm and loved.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

I thought I'd send some more pictures of myself since foster mom has been busy cleaning up the yard for winter. I help her alot by taking the branches out of her pile and making little pieces out of them.

Our house has been a little sad the last few weeks. First our good friend Brandy went to heaven and then my foster brother Keeper 08-460. Foster mom said that the cancer was just too much for Keeper to fight. Foster mom still has those wet drops come out of her eyes but I just lay my head on her lap and she hugs me and I know I make her feel better.

Did you see all those strange looking little people running around last weekend? Every time I sat down the door bell would ring and I would have to get up and bark. How is anyone suppose to get any rest around here with the doorbell going off every 2 minutes? I was exhausted from getting up and down.

I still think it is my job to rid the yard of rabbits and squirrels and make sure anyone who trespasses on my street is well aware that I am watching them. When foster mom is outside with me she makes me sit and just watch them walk by. This is very annoying to me. How am I suppose to let them know they are trespassing if I can't bark at them?

Foster mom says my new pictures show how handsome I am. I wanted to take my duck outside with me but foster mom said no so I had to give her a little back talk. It was just too nice to stay inside and my duck needed fresh air.

Foster mom says I have a little stubborn streak but I am loveable anyway. Hope everyone has a great weekend with this beautiful weather.

Life has been slow around here with such hot weather and humidity but give me a frozen marrow bone and I'm happy.

As you can see I'm hanging in the shade chewing away on my bone with my foster brother Keeper 08-460 and resident diva Smoozer.

Hope to see you all at Goldzilla. Watch for me at the foster showcase.

Tucker just wanted to say hi to everyone and hopes everyone is enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.

Tucker will be in the foster showcase at the Goldzilla picnic so stop by and see this gorgeous hunk.

Tucker hopes everyone had a great 4th of July. It is not his favorite holiday due to all the noise but he loves all the food that goes along with the holiday.

Tucker has been watching the news about the BP oil spill and was very disturbed. He decided that he would do his part and give away his fur to help soak up that awful oil.

As you can see from his picture, he donated a lot of fur. He has been so hot this year and just trimming him did not help him. He would pant even in the air conditioning so we decided to shave him down and donate his fur. He feels so much better and actually loves to be outside now. He may look a little funny but he is so much more comfortable.

It's amazing how small he looks without all that fur. He actually has a waistline and is quite handsome even without his fur. The look he gives you with those big brown eyes just melts your heart.

Tucker did have a visit from my niece's little yorkie, Vinnie. I thought Tucker would eat Vinnie as soon as he saw him but he just sniffed him a bit while Vinnie jumped all over him. It was good to see that Tucker didn't chase him as if he was a rabbit. I still wouldn't trust them alone but Tucker may be ok with smaller dogs as long as he is monitored.

This gentle giant would love to have a quiet home where he would get lots of tummy rubs, short walks and a fenced in yard where he can chill out and keep the squirrels and rabbits away.

Tucker continues to be a very easy foster. All he needs is food, tummy rubs and a few games of chase with resident golden Smoozer.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Tucker spends his days chasing those pesky rabbits. He just doesn't understand where they go once they get into the tall grass. Tucker sure can move when those rabbits tease him. He almost caught one but luckily for his foster mom the rabbit made a quick turn into the tall grass and under the garage.

Tucker continues to be the sweetest, most gentle soul. All he wants is tummy rubs and food. My feeble attempt at getting him to lose weight hasn't worked so foster mom has to get serious and get some weight off him.

Tucker has come in contact with smaller dogs and he is ok with them. I think it is any dog that is less than 30 lbs looks like a rabbit to him.

Everyone that meets Tucker can't believe how handsome he is and always say that the pictures on this website don't do him justice. I really have to agree. Once you meet Tucker you just want to bury your face into his neck and hug him. He is just one big cuddly bear.

Please e-mail placement if you want to meet this gentle teddy bear.

Tucker here. I've just been hanging out in the yard enjoying the weather, chasing those squirrels out of the yard and making sure the neighborhood knows I'm still here.

Foster mom says I'm very entertaining and I still don't know what this "marmaduke" thing is. She really likes my happy dance when she is fixing my dinner.

Foster mom let me pick some new pictures to show you. She says I'm still the most handsome 10 year old she knows.

My first picture shows that I was very thirsty after barking at those trespassers walking by my yard so I was eyeing foster mom's cup of water.

Then foster mom took a picture of me and Smoozer barking at those trespassers and boy was I surprised when I saw that she was right there. Foster mom doesn't let me bark at them as much as I would like.

My last picture is me trying to show off my new summer do but Keeper wasn't impressed. He likes his curly mane.

Tonight we get to have a birthday party for Keeper 08-460 with lots of treats. I can't wait!

I sure hope the cops don't show up because our party is so loud. Us old guys like to party hardy you know.

Gotta go wrap Keeper's present. I sure hope I don't eat it before I get it wrapped.

Did you see me on the front page of the RAGOM website? Wow, what an honor.

I've been to a couple meet and greets with other RAGOM fosters and loved meeting all the people. I never get tired of people giving me belly rubs and telling me how handsome and nice I am. I do have to make myself noticeable at times, though, because these nice people give a lot of attention to the other dogs. When this happens I start to bark to let these nice people know that I still need more belly rubs.

I've been having a lot of fun running and playing in the deep snow. As you can see from the pictures I love to stick my head in the snow. I found out those rabbits burrow deep in the snow by the lilacs so I have to dig some to get close to their smell.

I don't understand why people can think I'm so handsome but can't adopt me. Foster mom says it is because I can't do stairs and I chase cats. Foster mom says that there is a perfect family out there for me and that they will find me.

I got to meet RAGOM foster Brandy (08-122) and her brothers Baxter and Asa a couple weeks ago. Brandy is a very beautiful girl.

I can't wait until all this snow is gone so I can run without falling into a snow bank and we can start going back to the park. I may not be able to walk really far but I love to go on walks to the park.

I made a new friend, Vlad, who is a 2 year old energetic puppy. Vlad comes over and plays once in a while.

Vlad runs and runs after tennis balls while we chase him. We can't catch him but it is fun to run and play. Smoozer, Keeper and I get tired after a while so we just walk around and watch this young pup. We all sleep very good after Vlad has been here.

Foster mom wants the computer so I will go lay in the sun and work on getting my vitamin D.

Foster mom is letting me say my own thank you to Lori, Kerry and the Mutts and also the person who gave many tokens to all of us senior goldens.

I did my happy dance when foster mom told me there are people who are reading about me and think I'm so special. She is always telling me how handsome and special I am but it's nice to know there are others who think I'm handsome.

Foster mom took some pictures today so I can show everyone how handsome I am with my fur growing longer. Good thing it's growing out because I was very cold this morning. All three of us came limping back to the door with ice in our paws. Foster mom put some black boot things on my foster brothers (Keeper 08-460) feet when we went out this afternoon so his feet won't get cold. I didn't laugh at him though because he is one of those senior seniors. Foster mom said that she didn't have any of those boot things large enough for me but that is ok, I'm a tough guy. Foster sis, Smoozer, says she has to wear them sometimes and really doesn't like them.

Enjoy my new pictures. Foster mom says I am so much more handsome than the pictures show but I think they look just like me.

 Tucker on rabbit patrol

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I have started calling Tucker my very own personal Baby Huey. He is such a gentle giant and has no idea how strong he is.

Tucker is a quiet dog unless you start playing with him and then he does this little dance and starts to bark and moan. Such a handsome man with big brown eyes. He had my heart the very first night when he laid his head on my lap and looked up at me with those eyes.

My yard is full of rabbits and squirrels and once in a while a mouse. Tucker can really move if he is in pursuit of one of these animals. He even showed Smoozer how to try to catch a mouse by digging up much of the rock I laid next to my house this summer. Smoozer was more than happy to help him dig. Needless to say, I was not a happy foster mom when I saw what was going on. But, I should have been watching them.

The SO said that Tucker chases cats so if you have cats or small dogs I do not feel that Tucker is a good dog for your home.

The SO also stated that Tucker is not good with small children. He backs away from them. I have two small kids living next door to me and Tucker does stay away from the fence when they come close. Tucker will run to the fence when the teenager at the other end of the fence comes home from school.

The vet is weaning him off the Gerbapentin and upping his dosage of deramaxx. I'm watching Tucker to see if there is any effect on his mobility and use of his back leg. I've started him on a weight management food and we walk a bit to try to get some weight off.

There are three things that Tucker will need in his adoptive home:

  • Physical Fence - he was on a tie out in his previous home and is now enjoying walking the fence line, rolling in the grass and exploring with Smoozer and Keeper.
  • Must be able to sleep in your room next to your bed.
  • One or two stairs only in your home and to get outside. - He is ok with a couple stairs but more than that is very difficult for him.

This gentle giant demands nothing but enjoys being in the same room with you, playing with his squeaky toys and getting a few belly rubs.
