Stella 09-379

Profile

I am pleased to add Stella to our list of available dogs!!  She comes from Missouri and they don't come ANY sweeter than this!!!  I believe she has a motorized tail as it never stops wagging.....just look at her and it starts up.  When she goes on a walk, it is wagging the whole time.  The vet estimates her to be around 8 and in good health.  When I first picked her up she had a drippy nose and slight cough.  She has been on antibiotics for 4 days and is already much better.  The nose has dried up and the cough is very infrequent.  She has been doing some chewing on her feet so we are trying out some Benedryl to see if we can get the itching to stop.  And speaking of her feet......she has one foot that is missing a toe and a little deformed but to me it only makes her more special!!

She has gotten along with our 3 resident dogs just fine (likes to give them kisses).  I don't know about cats but I really think she would be fine.  I will try and test her around them.  She is a great walker!  Tells us when she needs to go out and is fine on a tie out.  She does her business and then is right back at the door.  She loves to play ball but will tear up a tennis ball if left alone.

She is by far the easiest foster that we have ever had and I believe that she will fit into any home.  She does love to be petted so that is a must!!!  If you are looking for a senior dog to keep you company and is easy to take care of, this is your girl!!!  Please contact placement and we can talk!!!

Stella came to our family as a foster dog and from the moment she arrived, we were "taken" with her and knew she had found a home. She had a bout with allergies, but once we addressed those, she no longer pulled her fur out and it is now starting to grow back. She has arthritis, but knows it is good to have daily exercise and loves getting out for walks. In fact, she runs about one mile daily and it is "mom" who is having troubles with a greater distance, not Stella. Unfortunately, it is too cold for her other favorite - swimming - but luckily it is always good weather for a car ride. She will wait at the door when she knows someone is going out with the hope that she can go for a ride.

The resident cats still give Stella "cattitude", but she gives them their space and doesn't take it personally. They will be good friends very soon, as they've made great progress. (They no longer hide under beds or downstairs!)

Stella is a social butterfly, both with dogs and people. Whenever we're on a walk, she has to visit with everyone. Her favorite is to walk around area lakes. People always comment about her beautiful white face. She goes to a local nursing facility every week to visit with the residents and both the residents and Stella look forward to the visits. With her age and "ailments", she's quickly welcomed.

We can't imagine our family without Stella; she's the perfect gal and hopefully we'll have many great experiences together as time marches on.
