Let me introduce Luke, one of RAGOM's newest additions. He has been here for 24 hours and I have a pretty good feel for him.
He is two-years-old, his weight is perfect at 59 pounds, he is now up-to-date on his shots and freshly microchipped. He was already neutered. Pending his heartworm test results, he is in good health. One thing makes him stand out of the RAGOM crowd....he is BLACK and he is GORGEOUS!!! His surrendering owners forgot to mention that he was black...but he has all the feathering of a golden.
He was pretty wound up on arrival after a three-hour car ride from western Minnesota. He met the two resident goldens and the other foster golden Sinda 09-253 with zero issues. He has proven himself to be housebroken, he did not even mark when he first came! Good dog! He definitely will countersurf and no food is safe unattended when he's around. He LOVES to play and happily one of my dogs has been playing with him. They chase, they wrestle and then they wrestle some more. He plays fair and understands dog language. He ignores the cat, which irritates my cat, but for you cat owners, it's a good thing. He was crated last night and after some initial whining, was silent all night.
The surrendering owner said he would jump a four-foot fence, but so far I haven't seen any desire...but somebody is always out in the yard with him, or else he's been tethered. He sits, downs, and does high-five...but he REALLY NEEDS OBEDIENCE TRAINING!!! He is very food-motivated, so he will be fun to train.
If you are looking for a young dog to train, to be active with, to run with etc. Luke just may be your guy! He has a great temperament and just needs training and consistency and I know he will become a super dog in no time. Email your placement advisor for more information about Luke.
