Hi I am Annie 09-352 a female Golden Retriever from Tennessee and I am 5+ years old. It was a long ride to get here, but glad to be out of my previous situation. I rode with three other dogs and we were so worn out we wouldn't even eat that morning. My foster arrived in Richfield to meet the transport and handed out more water and dog treats which was nice. I arrived at my foster home in Redwood Falls, MN about 4:30 PM Sunday Aug. 24th after a two day transport. Today I was microchipped and saw a vet in Minnesota. He said I have cataracts starting in both eyes and also must wait a couple weeks before my spay as I'm too worn down-not from the ride here, but from life at the previous home of the breeder, who surrendered me. I will not be available for adoption until after spaying.

You may see in pictures of me why I'm worn down as I have black marks on elbows and they had to cut some of my beautiful hair to treat me for fleas and give me a bath to get rid of feces stuck to my legs and body. I am so grateful to RAGOM to be alive and in Minnesota to find a forever home.

I am really mellow and walk rather slow at the present time. Just a couple of times, I tried loping but not used to being out and having such exercise. I don't climb stairs but have learned to do just three so far to get in and out of house. My foster also has to help me get in and out of car as I haven't learned that either yet, but I ride really well in the car on the back seat and sometimes look out.

I can live with cats and get along with Foster's male terrier. I haven't been crated or gated at present time, because foster hasn't left me alone for a long period yet, maybe later. I sleep all by myself on the floor while foster sleeps upstairs. I do check things out and my foster caught me grabbing a tomato off the counter and trying to lift the lid of the garbage can (you know for me those were ways of getting food before), but I'm learning that dog food and treats are better.

Foster mom gives me massages on my back legs and back and they feel so relaxing for my tired out bones. I sometimes have a little trouble getting up, especially on hardwood and tile floors that are in my foster home, so I sleep on throw rugs. Don't know about children yet as there aren't any in my foster home. I also don't bark, because my breeder cut my vocal cords to prevent me from barking and now only make a kind of coughing noise. I don't mind getting brushed or bathing as foster gave me shower in a little cubicle and dried me off afterward. I will be working on sit too as I didn't do all those things before and takes a little time to learn them. SOO MUCH to Learn, I'm tired out and will talk with you later.

Hello All Annie here to let everyone know that I had my Vet visit for thyroid test today and wanted to share a couple pictures. They make sure I don't move and hurt myself when they draw blood. I also got my heartworm tablet and frontline to keep fleas away. I waited patiently for the test to be complete and found out it was high, which means I will now have to have a half pill twice a day for a month and be rechecked. I was previously getting a whole pill once a day in morning. The Vet said I may have been at my peak at 4 PM when he tested and it may go down in a month. I also gained some weight again and now at 71 pounds and this may be because I am not as active when it is so hot outside and humid. Humidity bothers me and I have trouble breathing and will pant more because of humidity.

My foster has gotten me to stand in a wading pool twice and that feels good, and I was even coaxed into laying in it for a while. I also attached another picture to show you how I have changed and am lighter in color in summer. Hope you enjoy pictures and will talk with you next month.

Hi  Annie here and guess what Holiday is coming up?

Check out my picture and I'm sure you can tell. I didn't really feel like sitting for pictures and kind of laid down but Foster did a good job putting this together for you to see me in my 4th of July setting.Still waiting to be adopted into a great family and if someone wants to sponsor me to help with special food I need or pills it would be very much appreciated. Have  a great holiday.

All is well and getting lots of outside time when not raining!! Lot of extra work as our feet need to be wiped so I don't bring mud in the house or leave doggie tracks and I'm getting used to stopping when I get in to have it done. Foster mom put in a garden in the backyard, and there is always mowing which gets me outside too. This past week the sheep came to eat the grass in the grove and pasture, but I stay behind foster mom when we go in the barn as I'm not real sure if I want to get closer. I also get to go on rides to town for groceries and meet her friends and their dogs and cats. This weekend, I get to go to Belle Plaine to visit foster moms sister, so it is a very busy time of year.
There is all kinds of new things to find, like those poor baby birds that fall out of nests and squirrels to chase up the tree. I even saw a deer in the yard one day and barked so my foster mom could see it. See attached picture.Foster just made another batch of yummy pumpkin treats for me so better go and taste a few. See you later.

Hi,
We met my friend Jeff  at Cologne and he took me to the event at PetCo in Maplewood on Saturday and I enjoyed meeting everyone and I have included a picture. I love attention and meeting other dogs and people. I got to stay overnight and sleep by his new dog Charlie and you can see by picture, I am one all curled up.
On Sunday noon, my foster mom picked me up again and took me to her sister's home in Belle Plaine to celebrate Mother's Day with their family and grandchildren. So naturally I was really tired out from all excitement and long drive and foster mom let me sleep in on Monday. What an exciting weekend and glad to get out as now rain has returned and stay inside a lot.

Hi everyone,
I am toning up and getting ready to be adopted. This month when I went to vet for frontline, I had lost two pounds since December, which means I now weigh 68 pounds. Included a couple pictures of me taking a nap and another watching foster outside and you'll notice my trim figure. I love being outside and going for leisure walks and I never pull like those younger dogs. I also just found out yesterday that Toodles one of the friends I just showed you last time is finding his forever home next weekend and I am so happy for him.
I would love a forever home that I can be a part of the family with another dog and children to learn me how to play. I am not one who can stand young dogs or children that pull or bump my back as I have some  touchy spots that hurt when bumped real hard. I also am on thyroid in morning and pepcid ac only as needed now, which isn't very often. I need special diet dog food of duck and potato to keep me healthy, along with tablespoon pumpkin with my food twice a day and have water available all day.

I will need a fence yard because if bored, I will go out exploring on my own and not good on tie out as get tangled around things. One good thing is that I don't have anxiety for thunderstorms or loud noises and I do let foster mom know when people or strange things like tractors come around. I am able to go up and down stairs, I sleep mostly on the floor, dog bed or sometimes on couch. I am good with free roam of house when foster mom is gone and sometimes wait at door for her return.
I am very friendly with all size dogs as today a neighbor brought over a miniature pincher and I followed him around a while, isn't life exciting!! Cats, well I pretty much ignore the one that lives upstairs and have no interest in even trying to get near it. Sometimes it makes noise and hisses at me when I lay on the floor and then just walks by me. I love to go for car rides to see people or animals, we went last week and I saw baby lambs. They were real cute, but their moms would stomp their feet and I didn't like that, so stayed back. I have met so many nice people and dogs since RAGOM has helped me out and grateful for all the people who support RAGOM. I am waiting for my chance to give love back for all the love given me, when I was done and not well.

Annie here to let you know I'm really adoptable now and have Spring Fever. I joined the dog trekky club to go where no human wants to tread now to explore. I liked the snow better when hard, but I don't care if I sink in now, I just keep going as feels so good to explore now that I'm well. No matter what's in the snow or underneath, if I want to see it closer I go there or I will dig it out.

I've included pictures for you to see me out trekking. If I want a snow bath now because snow is disappearing, I just take a run and rub up against the snow bank. I really like being outside, and when my foster worked on her car, I just laid by garage. Of course, if she takes too long and I don't get attention, I go exploring around the yard.

Last week there was an addition to our home, a toy poodle someone found shivering out on the road and they called my foster to take it as their dogs didn't get along. He is about 5 and not microchipped, so she is trying to find his home and we all get along and go for walks. He likes to be out longer with me than other resident dog who is older and gets cold fast. I included a picture after my foster cleaned him up and cut mattes out. We don't know his name, so we call him Toodles.

Hi, I'm Annie and it's time to give you an update on how things are going with me now.
I have been on a diet of Duck and Potato (dry and canned), which is working great for me and will need this type of diet the rest of my life to keep me healthy due to food allergies. I also need to have pumpkin, two tablespoons with food twice day, to help me feel full or I want to eat everything in sight as feel starved-baskets, wood, socks or anything that looks appetizing or not.  I also need my thyroid pill once a day. The Forti Flora and Pepcid AC are still questionable as still in process of weaning me off.
Now for good news-My energy levels are returning, I like to run and go for walks outside with foster and resident dog. I always need a longer walk than resident dog, sometimes 4 or 5 blocks before I do my business outside.
The resident dog showed me how to walk on snow banks by spreading my toes and you can see me and him on one of the pictures. You will notice in one picture I have a white tip on my tail, which my foster thinks is so cute. I can even run through snow banks now. I also try to make an attempt to play with toys, except still not sure quite how. Another thing I love is to be petted, brushed, and cuddled, except I get too hot laying next to foster and have to get up and go to my own space.

Foster made me a new bed with cedar chips that smells so nice and padded to make it soft that I love to sleep on best. Sometimes I just lay on floor as not carpeted in most of house and it doesn't bother me at all. I do sleep upstairs by foster on floor sometimes at night. However, in mornings sometimes resident cat makes a loud howling noise as she wants to sleep on bed, so wakes everyone up. She likes it best when we are all downstairs, which is fine with me.
Foster said if things go okay, I should be ready to adopt in a couple of weeks, so watch for me. I would so love to have a forever home and make a great companion dog as I love people, children, dogs, cats.

Annie enjoyed her stay in the cities. She has new dog pals in residents Bailey, Bailey and Zoey. Time ran out in getting her to learn to play. We were close. Annie enjoyed the holidays with the extra people to give her pets.  And she has a bag of presents to take back to her regular foster home. Annie's health has improved after a weekend with an upset tummy. She was 68 LBS at the vets office yesterday. Hopefully we can get her on the available list in a few weeks. Annie could really use a sponsor to help with the extra vetting. Annie is a sweetheart!  What a nice mellow gal. She picked up on a new house in a day or so and fit in wonderfully.  We will miss her, but enjoyed getting to know her. And hopefully we can get her to come back to the cities for an event or two in the future .

Hi  a quick update from Annie, all things are coming together on my going to dog sitting in Richfield over Christmas and my foster mom made me new boots for the cold-just in time for another cold snap. I just had to show them too you and included pictures. Her first time making them and she had to make a few adjustments as a couple came loose when I rolled in snow.

Sounds like Jeff my new sitter has some resident Goldens that I can learn to play with and hang out. Can't wait to see them and I am so thankful that RAGOM has people who offer to dog sit. It really helps out in these situations, when a foster needs to go out of state. All for now enjoy the cold- Brrrrr glad I have boots to keep my feet warm.

Hi I'm back and feeling some better, but still out as I have one issue not resolved yet and the vet is going to try putting me on special diet to see if have allergies.
I am really grateful for money donated on my behalf to help get me fit and into a good home. Thanks go to all those watching over me. Keep watching as when I get all better, I am going to be one fine catch. It is a trying time for me with so many health issues going on at the same time and glad some are being resolved.

My thyroid at last vet visit has now stabilized and I only need one tablet in the morning. Anemia has cleared since the first worming, but as I am writing this update, I am going through second worming to make sure we got them all. I am gaining weight and maybe a little too much as so fun to eat when feeling better. Due to all medications I have taken, I am on a medicine once a day to help put good enzymes back into my stomach to help with digestion for another two weeks for sure and then may be off them. I am also at the present getting one pepcid AC before each meal as I have trouble with some bloating and gas. Too keep me regular at present I get two tablespoons of pumpkin at each feeding as I need more fiber and this works great.
I like the new fallen snow, but my feet sure can't take the sudden below zero temps you have in Minnesota- BOW WOW!. My foster mom said she  is going to try and make me some boots and see how that goes as I never wore any before. She tried some long socks but they slid down and I couldn't walk without stepping  on them. I sure looked crazy in that outfit and glad no  camera was available, so looking forward to nice boots.
My foster mom has to go out of state for almost a month and I will have to go to a sitter, which will help me get used to new settings and friends.
I sure wish I could help Santa this year and included is a picture of me as a Santa Dear. Cute HuH!

Another pic of me also included as I am snuggled up getting ready to take a long winter nap.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

From Chelsea 02-208 & Cecil, in loving memory of Bev

Monday, October 12, 2009

Annie here again and loving the weather today. I had my first snow bath in Minnesota and got dressed for the Twins to show my MN Spirit to fellow Minnesotans. Not easy holding still long enough for pictures and foster had to take a few because I was so excited the hat kept falling off.

I want to let you know at the last vet visit I weighed 61 pounds up from 54 pounds from previous visit and my spay is planned for  Wed. Oct. 14. I used up all my ear meds and foster will watch in case ear infection are not all cleared up. I still have thyroid pills to take the rest of my life, but glad to feel more normal with them.

I can now run around more and I am learning to play-at least with a small ear of corn the squirrel left on the ground. Foster tosses it and I go get it and bring it back. I now sleep on floor in the bedroom at night and enjoy the couch or my crate during the day. I never knew it was so much fun being a dog.

My hair is getting softer, but I lost most of the caramel colored hair on my back legs and tail but am now waiting for it to grow back. My belly is even getting hair back as you can see in the picture.

If you are looking for a really mellow, loving dog, contact placement to see me as I am looking forward to a forever home soon.

Hi

I'm Annie's foster mom and writing as Annie is taking this time to rebuild after starting thyroid meds. She now has an appt. on Oct 5th at 4pm. for a blood draw to see if she is stable enough to make an appt. for a spay. She is also still on medication to clear up her ear infection and will be rechecked.

Annie is a sweet gal that loves to be petted and have belly rubs. The black coloring on her legs and belly is going away now that she is on medication as it was from the thyroid not working but looked just like dirt that wouldn't come off. She loves to be outside and I took her to a friend's house this weekend to pick grapes. She was awesome, just laid down and waited until time to move further and got up and moved with me as I worked. Noise from the four wheeler or vehicles didn't bother her. She was fine with the other dog there, but did bark at sheep as hadn't seen any yet in her low bark as vocal cords are cut. She did the same thing at first to cattle next to where I live, until she got used to them.

Car rides are getting more enjoyable for her. She is learning the sit command. I am still working on teaching her how to play as she has no clue. I purchased a stuffed toy raccoon and that is her first attempt at play with a toy. She will carry it around after picking it out of the toy box and mouth it a while in play bites and then just lays with it. I have included a picture.

Annie would be best with another dog to teach her how play and exercise.

She has also started to put on weight and looks healthier. Her energy level has increased as she can now walk faster than me and will actually run around more. Annie is a mellow dog and not hyper and wanting to run all time. She is okay with cats, doesn't  jump up when meeting people. Annie will have to be watched as she has coprophagia( which means she will eat any dog poop), which is an affliction she may not outgrow, meaning her yard area will have to be kept clean.

She has free roam of house and respects baby gates. I have left her with other dog in house for up to 3-4 hours and she has been fine. She is okay with my cats and even two ducks outside in yard.

Annie here again for an update.

Finally all tests results are in that were taken last week. The good news is I don't have Lymes or Ehrlichia as one of other dogs that came with me tested positive. The other good and bad news is that my thyroid test was low and I will need meds twice a day and the good news is this may be why I am so thin and not real active or playful. My foster say thyroid meds not a big deal as I take pills really well with cheese and she even takes thyroid medication too. She told me the thyroid controls a lot of functions of the body and with medication we can live a normal life and just need to be tested periodically to see that it stays in the normal range. Because of this, I will have to wait a while longer for my forever home but I want to be the best I can for you when you get me.
In the mean time, I will keep learning and as you can see from the picture, I can now go up long stairs and down by myself-yippee. I still prefer to not go upstairs at night and sleep downstairs. I can also get in and out of back seat of the car by myself. While riding in the car, I lay on the back seat, but when stopped sometimes I prefer to lay on the floor.

Yesterday while on our walk up the driveway, a white truck went by with a square box on road and I started barking and wanting to run toward it. My foster was surprised as most action she saw out of me since being here and also confused on why I wanted to chase this truck as other vehicles didn't seem to bother me, but I couldn't explain why.

Last night our resident cat came down to visit us all, and I don't mind at all, the cat even came out in the kitchen to get treats with us.
My appetite is still good and with the thyroid medications I should get a better coat, gain weight and energy in coming weeks.
I am so grateful for RAGOM helping me become healthy and find a good loving home and family who can show the love my foster says I deserve. I will keep posting updates so you can see my progress and please wait for me.
