Lucky.....she is so Lucky - Found in the middle of Highway I-94 up by St. Cloud. Picked up by an amazing human being and took her to the vet.

Lucky has a hurt leg, and was infested with ticks and matts, they had to shave her tummy and around her ears, she has a large infected wound by her ear that was weeping and had maggots in it.  Her very infected ears had maggots in them as well.  She is hearworm positive and Lyme Disease positive.  She had Moist dermatitis infections infested with maggots and she has a bacterial infection.  Poor Baby Girl.  She weighs 49 pounds and is very malnurished. They have guessed her age to be around 6 years old.  She is very petitie and small.

Connie and Dayle brought her to me Thursday Night, she is eating 4 small meals a day and LOVES her food.  We are treating the Lymes and the sores and the bacterial infection and the ear infections.  Her leg is still very sore and we will make a trip to the vet early next week for another check.  They  are very painful for her and she wants to shake and scratch them, so we just follow her around and help remind her to leave them alone.

She is so shy and timid, not sure if she has really ever had much human loving.  But she is now and seems to like it.  She and Cindy get along just fine and Cindy seems to watch out over her. Lucky does like to go into the kennel that I brought  upstairs and she and Cindy sleep in my room, Lucky has been a perfect house guest.

I write this final update about my sweet sweet Bella girl (aka Lucky) with a very heavy heart.

Today Bella lost her battle with all the different issues she came to RAGOM with. Heartworm treatment was brutal, she had a bloody nose that we could not stop the bleeding on, and today she was so sick that I couldn't look into those amazingly sweet kind eyes of hers any longer and let her suffer. She deserved to go over the bridge and be pain free.

If you have come to read her story you knew that heartworm and Lymes disease, along with a terrible ear infection infested with ticks and maggots, she came with that sweet face and a wagging tail, and she always - no matter how bad she felt - had a kiss for you. She was given a warm place to sleep and great food to eat that came on a regular basis and LOVE LOVE LOVE and medicine to get her better.

Bella came into my home and accepted me and trusted me even after all that sweet little pumpkin had gone through and it was clear that she was not treated well by someone, but she gained my trust like those amazing Goldens do and was beginning to understand what the golden life was really all about. She loved my Cindy and she was learning to play with balls (something she did not even know could be so fun)!!! Her legs were in such bad shape and with meds she was skipping around the back yard, and she loved her walks!!!

Bella was a perfect house guest. She loved to sleep in my closet after she migrated from out of her kennel. And was always waiting at the door for me. She deserved so much better of a life, and I was really hoping RAGOM was going to give her that opportunity to find a forever home. But her little body had just endured too much neglect.

Thanks to her sponsor Susannah C and Ragom and for giving her a chance. She really deserved that.

Good bye my sweet angel, I know you are now skipping around with all those other goldens........say HI to a few for me!!!! Love U Bella and I miss your presence at home tonight. Blessings Baby Girl

Well Hello there everyone just a quick update on ME!!!  I am doing better FM says that I am eating up a storm and I am liking it a bunch.  Still a bit of low energy and today we had Yuk (bloody discharge) coming from my nose. But FM keeps on loving me up and I am excited when I get that lovin up. I am a sweet angel that needs someone to give me my forever home soon.  I will be ready for walks and loving U up.  I am very quiet girl, no barking and I really like to be right by you.  I need to know where you are.  FM tells me that I am super duper sweet!!! I love kisses to and I love to kiss you on the hand or the feet.

Foster Mom here, Bella has a very good appetite again and that is terrific, she has been pretty quiet these last few weeks, but still goes on slow quiet walks and is so very content on just being anywhere that you are.  She can be at home all day (10) hours and just hangs out waiting for you to come back.  She is waiting at the door now when I come home and has lots of hugs and kisses and is ready to go outside.  She will make someone super happy.

I am posting some pictures from the Humane Society event that we were at.

Bella here :-} Boy it has been storming out a lot, and really NOT a bit FAN.  But if you stay close to me I feel safe.  I can run around now…….WOW, and I have found toys!!! They are really great fun and I love to DESTROY them as well.  I love my walks with Foster Mom, we go every night!! I am getting very comfortable here and feel safer every day. I am a Velcro dog as are most golden’s, and when you are up I am when you rest I will.  I barked for the first time, my buddy Cindy and I and Foster mom were all hanging out in the yard and the golfers came up in a golf cart it frightened me and I barked twice.   Mom was excited to hear me.

Well on Wednesday I go in for my first shot for heartworm, I will check in with all of you after that is over with and tell you how I am doing.  Foster mom says we are to be calm and quiet………:-{  We will see!!!

Enjoy my pics!!

HELLO IN THERE!!! Bella here, I am checking in with all you wonderful people who are reading my profile.I feel gooooooood!!! ;-]

Love my bed

Love my food

Love my home

Love my security

I might love balls too!!

I am so happy to be in this secure home with love and friends and family and my buddy Cindy.  I get food on a regular basis (good food) and I am putting on a bit of weight and looking good if I can say so myself. I love my crate, but usually only to sleep in now (I used to go in there all the time),  I was scared, but now I like sleeping on the floor with my pal.  I really love my walks.  But most of all let me tell you about my back legs, they hurt so much and I cried, but now I can move a bit faster, get up the steps without whimpering, I cannot sleep on my one side yet, but I cannot tell you how much better I am then I first was....THANK YOU

Thanks to RAGOM for saving me, and my foster for taking good care of me and MY WONDERFUL sponsor for helping me.....I am learning how to trust again.  I do not like it when you raise your leg, or throw something or raise your voice, it all scares me. I am apprehensive of taking things from your hand and really don't like my medicine.  But I will be good and take it. I am a very gentle girl who needs someone to LOVE ME FOREVER!!!!  Do you think that you want to????

Foster MOM here, Bella is a joy to have around, she is sweet and kind and so loving, still very nervous about many things, but has learned to trust and believe that I do not mean her any harm.  She is looking great, and is eating well and sleeps like a champ, she loves her crate. We walk every day, and she is a wonderful walker, she walks right by your side and does not pull. She has proven to be very gentle with children she just stands there and lets everyone love her up. She never lets you out of her sight!! and she does follow me everywhere.  We were outside this morning doing some chores and she was on a leash in the front and she must know where I am all the time, she will follow me in the garage and back out over and over just to stay close.  Her legs are so much better than they were when she first came to me, she does not sit very often but I have seen her in the past few days she has sat ever so gingerly (that is good progress).  She is pure SWEET AND JOY!!! She is petite and really just such a great girl.  Never had any accidents in the house, but still likes company when she goes out to potty.  She does not like to be out there alone, but has sat quietly at the patio door waiting on me.Well enough.....enjoy the new pictures, she is a pretty girl.

Bella here aka "Lucky" given you an update on me!!

I love this living in house thing and getting kisses and hugs and knowing where my food is coming from...thank you to the doggie God for saving my life and also my sponser for helping us all out.  I sure do go to the vet alot.....but I get treats.  Anyway enough about me, Iwill turn this over to my Foster Mom.

Bella is just a doll she is sweet and loving, but very timid and afraid still, she does not like to take things from your hand, she is very skitish about so many things you have to treat her with those extra kind hands until she can really trust the world and the people in it.  Her tail is wagging alot more now, and she is very happy to see me now when I return home from work.  She is for sure apart of the routine now and she loves to follow Cindy's lead (that is our other dog).  Cindy is quiet and mellow and that is what Bella needs.  Bella loves her kennel, loves it!!! She can be found in it whenever she needs her rest and time away.  I leave it open most all the time and even some days when I return home from work she is snoozing in it. She does have free roam of the house and is very respectful.

Yesterday she did steal a tiny piece of food of the coffee table and to me that shows a bit of progress for her. If anyone is looking for a sweeeeeet girl that needs some loving this is your girl.

Ok on her medical status:  Her ears are looking great and all the scabs are gone.  We went to the vet last week and had  a chest X-ray.   It appears that she is at stage 2 heartworm.  So the plan is to give her heartguard and Doxycycline first and wait a few weeks and on Aug 13 she will go in for her 1st injection and will be monitored at the vet.  I will bring her back home and we will be very quiet for 30 days, letting the worms die. They are very positive that she will have a full recovery!!! YAH And perhaps she will be a bit more energenic.

I believe there is an ANGEL in the world named Susannah Charleson WOW thank you so much for being my sponsor!!! You know this world is a better place because of people just like you reaching your hands and heart out to help ME….Lucky is for sure a very very Lucky girl. Bella aka “Lucky” gives you licks and kisses and nuzzles with so much gratitude and all the Golden Love you can take.

She is such a pumpkin!!!  Really, really sweet…very timid and quiet, but such a love bug.  She has bad hips and they make her very uncomfortable.  She whimpers if you accidently touch her on her back end and struggles with the two steps going off the deck to the lawn.  Sometimes she gets carried down to help her out. Poor baby!! But I am telling you she loves to be loved up and she is just a wonderful girl. Bella loves her kennel and will go in it on her own to rest.  I have given her the roam of the house in the evening (all night long) and she has done just great.  She comes up to the bed in the morning and noses you. She is ready for you to get up now and go out and you do have to go with her, even with the fenced in yard (she needs company I guess)!!!  I have not heard her bark yet, she has however cried in her kennel.  I live on a golf course and she sees the golfers, but no barking.  She is very quiet, but talk about a Velcro dog, I thought Mick and Cindy were, but with her and Cindy we could have our own parade around the house……it is pretty cute.

We go to the vet tomorrow 7/21/09 to create a plan for her, she will need heartworm treatment, and she will have to undergo some surgery for her hip and perhaps a spay.  But after all of that action takes place and healing is over…………….watch out she will get scooped up.

She is a very small girl, and is scared of most noises like loud trucks, barking dogs and for sure fireworks.  She comes close to you for security and then walks away not really knowing where to go.  But given some more time and confidence in kind human contact, she will begin to trust again and have faith that people are there to be kind to her. She will be so happy to have her hip fixed and not hurt all the time.  I tell you she is going to be a catch for someone, and I promise she will love you to ends and back.

Here are some photos, she is looking amazingly better than even a week ago.

Luvs to you all and again Susannah I love U to the moon and back.
