Hi to all of my fans! I hope I have a fan or two out there. Anybody out there??? Maybe no one is watching me.....seems like it since no one has told foster mom they want to meet me.
Maybe you heard I had to move to a new foster home--just until those dang puppies are gone. I have no clue what my foster mom was thinking when she said we would take them. There was no 'we' in that decision!
So I am in a quieter home for a few more weeks. But I am living with two other RAGOM Golden's that I like to hang with. Especially Scout :) She's my age and I think she is pretty cute. I tell her that by nipping her on her back. I know she doesn't really like that but I can't help myself. I think I am maybe winning her over a teensy little bit with each nibble.
My new foster mom thinks she is pretty funny taking a picture of me when my ear was standing up all goofy like! For crying out loud! A little dignity please! Just so you know my ear folds down like the other dogs in this house.
I am living a bit too far away to get to the event this weekend but if you really want to meet me we can work something out :)

Here is a new picture of Buster!

Sorry all you Buster fans out there…..I have been remiss in sending in an update.I can’t believe it’s been over a month since his last update. Buster continues to do well and is still looking for his forever family. He got to go “up north” for the holidays and spend a few days with 7 other dogs! Believe it or not, we didn’t have any fights. I would not say Buster relaxed a whole lot while he was up there. He does much better in a quieter atmosphere, so being around that many dogs and a ton of people, made him nervous. I just don’t think he’s been exposed to large groups of people and he’s not sure how to behave. At any rate, we sailed through the holidays and now it is 2010 already.
I really hope that Buster gets the opportunity to find his forever family. He’s got a few marks against him that I think is holding him back from getting adopted. The main ones are he’s not a Golden Retriever, he’s very tall and he’s a Senior. I personally don’t think these things should be held against him, but in reality they are. As for his breed, lately we think he’s part Great Dane. If you look on-line at pictures of Great Dane’s, he has many similarities to them. He has the huge head and long legs and he also can be a little on the nervous side, which is a common trait of Great Dane’s. As for his age, NO ONE believes he is 10 years old. The only thing that gives it away is his age bumps on his stomach, which many seniors develop at this age. As noted in previous updates, his energy level is much more around 5-6 yrs old. He loves his daily walks and/or runs and he is quite the snuggle bug in the morning. We are working on his training. Besides walking really well on his gentle leader, he now sits on command and lays down on command. We are working on the stay part of the down.
Wouldn’t you like to meet this gentle giant? Remember, he can’t live with cats and he would love to be an only dog. A quieter household would probably be best and he must have his daily exercise. If you’d like to meet him, please let your Placement Advisor know.

Hi Everybody,
I noticed my Fostermom hasn't sent in an update in awhile, so I better take over this job! What have I been up to lately? Well, I haven't had the opportunity to do any counter-surfing! I know, isn't that horrible?!? They now put up a baby gate when they go to work, so I can't even get in the kitchen. Darn it. So, now I spend my days relaxed on the couch. Did I mention that I love laying on the couch? It's soo comfy. I enjoy being able to live indoors this winter----first time ever! In my previous life (before RAGOM) I was an "outdoor" dog tied up to a tree. It was dreadfully boring and got pretty cold at night. Not any more!
I have been exercising quite a bit! My fostermom and dad are runners and they take Winston and I running 3-4 days a week. My longest run is 5 miles! Pretty good for an "old" guy! I actually really love running! It's very invigorating, especially at 5:30 in the morning when it's really cold out. I haven't gained any weight, but everybody thinks I don't look soo skinny. I think I've put on some muscle.
I've gone to some RAGOM events recently and met lots of people and other dogs. I like to bark when I see all the dogs. Normally, I'm not a barker, but when I want attention at these events, all I have to do is let out one of my really low and loud barks-----that makes everybody turn around and look at me :) They can't believe I'm a RAGOM dog. Would you believe some people even ask if I'm a Golden! Haha! My mom says I'm golden in personality and deserve a forever family as much as the "real" Goldens do.
Christmas is right around the corner and I wish my forever family would find me. I keep looking and I know they're all there somewhere.......I just need to be patient. I don't need a lot.....just attention, daily exercise (walks or run), and lots of love. My mom thinks I'd be best in a family as an only dog.....I love hogging all the attention, plus I really never learned how to play with another dog, so I'm never quite sure what Winston actually wants to do when he runs around the yard. Also, I may be 10 years old, but everybody, and I mean everybody, can't believe it. I act a lot younger and have the energy of a dog half my age. I'm super healthy; I have some age bumps, but we all get those when we are seniors. My teeth are excellent and I love chewing on nylabones, so they will stay nice and pretty for a long time. I eat about 4 cups of food a day---my mom says that's a lot, but she found that Cosco has a high quality, nutritious food that's not very expensive---good thing, because I like to eat :)
Well, I'm going to sign off now. Enjoy the pictures I've attached! My mom keeps trying to get pictures of me with these dumb antlers on, Happy Holidays!

For Buster in memory of my Buster

Sorry for the tardiness in my updates on Buster! It has been a pleasure to have him in our home for the last 6 weeks. He has acclimated into quite the house dog. No accidents since the one he had on the 2nd or 3rd day he was with us. We aren’t sure why, but he prefers to go #2 on a walk, but in a pinch, he will go in our yard. He loves walks and was just starting to wear his gentle leader until it got lost in our house – we are positive that he was the culprit in finding a great hiding spot for that evil gentle leaderJ Once found, we will get it back on him and get him used to wearing it on a regular basis. It seems like everyone that sees this big guy on our walks comments on how cute he is and how friendly to all, dog/people he is.
Buster did flunk the cat test….so if you have cats or small animals, he might not be the dog for you.
He still continues to try and engage our grumpy resident in play, but still nothing from our Tillie. Sometimes he will just stand over her and bark at her, like that might get her to play. It is actually quite sad to see, he would LOVE to find a play buddy and it just isn’t going to be his foster sister. That being said, I think he would do great as an only dog also.
Buster has gotten the laying on the couch/bed thing out of his system. On a rare occasion, he will get up on the couch, but he is off pretty quickly and seems to prefer just laying on the rug. I have attached a picture of him laying on the couch when he first got here, but like I said, he doesn’t do it much if at all anymore. The pic shows how big this guy is. In comparison, our Tillie (who is curled up in a ball) is a normal sized golden at about 75 pounds, she looks like a peanut next to him in these pictures.
I have enjoyed this guy, he views each and everything that we do as a great adventure. Last week the inevitable happened, it hit me that had RAGOM not taken this guy, his future would probably have not been as bright as it is today……….golden or not, this guy is a keeper and we have very much enjoyed getting to know him and love him to pieces. He is ready for the next step in his life, a family to call his own.If you might be that family, please let your placement advisor know you are interested in meeting him!
