Here is Gunner.... the newest RAGOM family member.
He was surrendered to RAGOM when the family had to move out of state and could not take him with them. Gunner came into RAGOM with pictures that his 4 legged siblings drew for him to remind him how much they loved and will miss him. Also a letter from his family to let his forever family know what a wonderful family member he was. Gunner is now 8 years old and had him as a puppy.
I have had Gunner now for little over a week. He came with severe allergies which the vet thinks just might be from the food he was eating, so he is on steroids to bring down the inflammation on his skin and also benedryl . Gunner is missing the hair around his eyes, ears and under his belly from him scratching himself all the time due to allergies, but hopefully now that he is on the road to recovery and his hair will grow back. He also came in with severe ear infections which he has had for a very long time. He has large scar tissue build up in his ears due to his infections and also from shaking his head all the time from having the infections that were irritating him.
Now the good news on this sweet boy.... in the short time I have had him I have already witnessed the change in his scratching and head shaking. The only time he shakes his head anymore is when he gets his pesty ear drops, which he takes like a trooper and he has already shown improvement with his scratching. He has been put on a high quality food and also gets daily fish oil for his skin and coat.
He loves kids.....when we are out walking he always pulls me towards the kids so he can get a quick snuggle in with them :0).
He loves to play fetch and will actually bring the ball back and drop it. Something I wish he would teach my Billy to do.
He follows me around everywhere...loves to be with his peeps :0).Right now we are dealing with who is going to be the alpha of the house... we have had some scuffles but nothing too serious. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for everybody to just get along. He does at times have some problems with sharing his toys with the resident dogs and does better when I feed him in a separate room. BUT has no resource guarding when it comes to humans. I can put my hand in his food, pull toys out of his mouth (even his fav Mr. Squirrel) and touch and pet him while he is eating. Not a peep out of him :0).
Gunner's SO also informed us that he likes kitties... used to let them crawl all over him.As soon as I find my camera I will get a picture of this sweet boy so you can see just how beautiful he is :0).
