Rio 09-273

Let me introduce you to a wonderful gentleman....Heeeeeere's Rio!  Rio is from a home that had too many dogs.  The owner felt that Rio was not getting the attention and exercise that he deserved.  She thought that Rio needed his very own family.

I have only had Rio since Friday afternoon, and boy has he has been a real gem!  I didn't know what to expect since  this is my first foster experience.  The first night I had Rio, we ventured out to a graduation party.  Rio was the hit of the party!  He was so well behaved...he responded well to children and other dogs.  Pretty impressive for a first night together-don't you think?

Rio knows the comands sit and down.  He also does a cute trick when you give him a treat...he sits back on his haunches and begs for the treat!  Rio and my cat are becoming friends.  They enjoy sniffing heach other-no problems at all in that area.  So far Rio has been very respectful of all non-dog things in my house.  He has a stuffed animal that he loves to carry around.  Rio loves to play fetch and go for walks.  By the way, he walks very nicely on the leash!  This evening Rio had a bath at the groomer; they loved him and said he did very well.

Tomorrow he will be going into the vet to be neutered.  Rio is a fabulous dog!  Please consider taking him into your home as your newest family member!  More info soon.

Rio has found his forever family!!!!  It was bittersweet for me; especially since it was my first foster experience.  I was sad to see such a wonderful dog go...but on the flip side, Julie and Magdiel were so excited to welcome him into their home!  I know that Rio is going to a wonderful place where he will get the love and attention that he so deserves.  Such a good boy-He will be missed at my home.

Rio is recovering nicely from his surgery-Rio was neutered on Monday, July 1st.  He is settling in just fine.  Rio had the opportunity to meet a very friendly male dog this weekend.  Rio was not overly excited right away; he did do a bit of growling and snapping, but with some redirection and time the 2 dogs were off and playing-having a great time.  When they weren't playing they ignored each other.  My plan is to get Rio around more dogs to see if this is a consistent behavior for him.

Rio is excitable around new people...but settles in after the newness wears off. When we are in the house he is totally a mello boy!  He does bark at people and dogs that go by my house, (FYI- My house is situated pretty close to the street and I do have a small yard)   but again with some reminders to stop he seems to be able to correct the behavior.

I took Rio to my dad's house, he lives on a lake...Ducks!!!! Water!!!!  Boy, Rio wanted to go!  I get the feeling that he is a water lover.  I will have to wait awhile since he is unable to get wet because of his surgery.

He loves his walks too!  He walks nicely on a leash, however if he does see something that interests him he can be off and running!!!  Squirrel!!  Rabbit!!! Let's GO!
