Casey is a sweet boy. He is a golden retriever mixed with something smaller.  He weighs 39 pounds and every bit of it is full of energy.  He is a true extrovert and happy explorer.  These qualities are what have brought him to RAGOM.  “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!” is Casey’s motto.  He is a bit of an escape artist when he can’t see what is going on.  When contained in a privacy fence, he will dig himself out.  If he is in a chain link fenced yard, he is happy to stay put.

Casey is very friendly with dogs and people.  He loves children and has lived with two 2 year olds and an 8 year old.  I think he must have been named for Casey Jones, as he pulls like a freight train when on a leash.  I will be trying to slow him down using a Gentle Leader.

I have only known him since 9AM today, but can tell that he is a GREAT dog.  He rode very nicely in the car with me.  I am told that he has lots of fun ripping up stuffed animals, but who doesn’t?

Casey is doing just great. He continues to charm everyone that he meets. He is getting to be a regular at St Therese’s Care Center where we visit my mom each week. I am just mystified that he has not been adopted yet. He is a lover boy, gentle, sweet and sunny. He is totally trustworthy when left alone (no accidents, no damage). He came through the firecrackers yesterday with no problem. He is a really nice smaller size with short fur. Compared to my big goldens, he is maintenance free!

I have a new picture that shows him doing his prairie dog imitation. He loves to stand up on his back legs. The picture is not great, but you get the idea. This boy is looking for a loving, gentle home.

Mr Casey met LOTS of very nice people at the St Louis Parktacular on Saturday. He was wearing a blue bandana and looked quite spiffy. I have attached a photo to show how cute he is. He was a wonderful greeter. Many children got free “feather kisses” from him. One little girl offered him her tootsie pop, but luckily he did not get to kiss that! He got a little worried when I left him with Jane so that I could carry things back to her car. Jane said that he stood up on his back legs and watched me as I disappeared in the crowd. There were some interested adopters on Saturday, so maybe this loving dog will find his forever home SOOOON!

Casey has had a good week.  His heartworm test was negative and so was his fecal check.  Since he has a clean bill of health I started him on heartworm preventative and flea prevention.  The vet said he is a perfect weight, but I think he could gain a pound or two.  Besides going to the vet, he has come to work with me and visited my mother at St Therese Care center.  Everywhere he goes people fall in love with him. He is so friendly and loveable.

He is a very light footed gentle dog.  He likes to give what I call “feather kisses”, just a quick lick and he is done. When I come in the door from outside he stands up on his back legs and waves his front paws.  He is very nimble and athletic.  From his body shape, I wonder if he might be part whippet. He has a very narrow waist.

I caught him lifting his leg in the house and told him NO!  He was very submissive and ran straight to his crate.  I told him to go outside, and when he got out he went to the fence and started digging. When I called him, he came to me and was happy to come back inside. I  think some of his escaping behavior maybe fear related.  That is the only time he has tried to dig out.

If you are interested in Casey, speak up. I think this boy is going to get adopted fast!
