Miller 09-046 is a 12 year old PB golden retriever.  He is only 50 pounds, so he is a little guy.  We have only had him for a little while, but wow, is he a sweetie.  He has come from a very rough few months.  His family was affected by the floods in Cedar Rapids, IA and they lost their home.  Miller was in a doggie care for the pet victims of the floods until their funding ran out.  He was then left alone in a trailer with two of his fur brothers.  His owners had to come a few times a day to let him out since he was not allowed in their FEMA trailer.  The owners saw how lonely Miller was getting and they knew it might be many more months before they would have a home, so they selflessly surrendered Miller to RAGOM.

Miller is just a delight.  He is a very young 12 year old!  He follows me from room to room, up and down stairs, and sleeps soundlessly next to the bed.    His tail is always wagging!!  He is just such a happy little guy.  He does have a thing where he likes to take the stuffing out of toys, but that is the only flaw I have found.  That is when the toy is already destroyed and right in front of his nose.  Who can blame him??  He doesn't chew anything inappropriate and he is completely housetrained.  Miller will tell you when he wants to go out by going to the door and whining.  He also loves being outside and going on walks!!  You can tell this little guy has been well cared for and loved in the past because he has just taken to living here with us very nicely.

We went to the vet today and are still waiting on fecal and blood results, but the vet says he is very healthy for a 12 year old.  He has good, clear lungs and great looking ears.  He does have a bit of a growth on his gum that might need to be looked at down the road along with a teeth cleaning.  He also has a skin tag.  It looks a little funny, but it is harmless.  He has had that for years.

I would really like to ask you to take a good look at Miller.  He is such a wonderful guy that still has years left in him.  I know he would love more than anything is to have a cozy home to call his own for the rest of his life.  That is all this guy asks for.  He isn't pushy and doesn't ask for a lot.  He just has a lot of love to give.  Once you meet him and look in those big brown eyes, you will fall in love!

If you are interested in meeting Miller, please contact placement. He is a wonderful dog that will bring someone great joy.

From Miller's forever family...

After having a terrific 13th birthday Saturday and a wonderful Sunday outdoors resting and visiting friends he loved, Miller's condition (due to cancer) deteriorated rapidly late Sunday night. His breathing became extremely labored and shallow. He was trying to find a position where breathing was easier, but it was not to be. After listening to him for hours, we made the decision that he needed peace. Miller passed to the rainbow bridge at 12:05 Monday morning with his family holding him.

Miller was a special gift and we were blessed to be a part of his life. He was as loved as any dog in the RAGOM family. I can't describe how much we miss him.

From Miller's forever family...

Mr. Miller is Mr. Amazing for a 12½-year-old boy. The kids (Zoom and Miller), Gail and Steve headed to the lake for a weekend away. The lake is a 2½-hour drive from home and Miller napped on his foam bed on the way up. By the time we reached the lake, he was ready to explore the area. After thoroughly checking out the beach, Miller spotted a flock of mallards swimming by the dock. He watched them carefully before deciding to head out to deep water to see them more closely. We captured Mr. Miller swimming back to the beach. Miller loved the water as he waded and swam for most of the weekend.

Mr. Miller arrived at our house in February and immediately became a part of the family.  He may be 12½ years old, but there is still a bunch of pup in Miller.  Zoom, our first RAGOM dog, and Miller get along like they have always been with each other.  Miller loves his walks, time with Zoom in the backyard, and playing with the other RAGOM dogs that regularly come over.  He is an absolute delight.  We could not be more blessed than to have Miller a part of our family.

Miller on the run!

OK, I don't think I have said it enough.  This dog is amazing!!  12 years old?????  He was just playing with a ball with my husband and caught it in midair!!!!  He then was so excited he ran down the hallway and down the stairs.  I have also learned that when he plays tug of war with Cami, he somehow always ends up with the toy.  This is just the best dog ever.  Please don't let his age deter you.  This guy has so much life to him!!

Miller 09-046 just continues to just be the sweetest, most wonderful dog imaginable.  He sleeps through the night and only gets up when you are all ready to let him out.  A dream dog!  No urgency!!

Miller and my resident dog Cami continue to be very close.  They race each other up and down the stairs.  Miller wins EVERY TIME!!!  They then meet at the bottom of the stairs and he is ready to play!  He lets out this adorable gruff bark like noise, saying come and get me!  Let's have some fun!  He does this little jumping around on all fours in place to show he is excited too.  He did the cutest thing today when Cami didn't feel like playing.  He found a plastic toy baseball and picked it up and dropped it a little ways away and then picked it up again.  The things he does to amuse himself!  I have found that if you leave the intact stuffed dog toys around he will try to pull those apart sometimes.  I have attached a couple of pictures of Miller and Cami playing and then one of them when they abruptly stop and just look around.  He is so funny how he edges his little behind at her.

This boy does not bark and does not get on furniture!  He has free roam all day and has not gotten into anything inappropriate.  He really is just a dream!!!

The vet called today with the rest of his lab results.  Everything looks great!!!!  He is healthy as a horse!!  He does have that skin tag that I mentioned that is not cancerous.  The vet did say he would be just fine to get that removed as well as the growth on his mouth, if you felt that was something you wanted to do.  Otherwise he is fine keeping the skin tag as it doesn't bother him.

This boy Miller is just a little wonder boy.  I love having him by my side all the time.  Cami, my resident feels the same.  If you would like to meet this little peanut and be prepared to fall instantly in love, email placementatragom [dot] org.  He is a quiet little guy with a lot of personality and a lot of love!!

I love him!!!  Miller is such a wonderful dog.  He is just the sweetest, gentlest soul.  He brings a smile to my face every second I am with him.  He is also full of surprises.  First off, before I get into the fun stuff, I did want to let you know that all blood and urine came back normal.  Still waiting on fecal.  Yea!!

OK, now onto the good stuff!!  Miller and my resident dog are BEST friends!  She loves him and he is pretty crazy about her.  They follow each other all over the house.  Miller actually instigated play with my dog today.  I think she was a little leery at first, but they wrestled.  I couldn't believe it!  This boy like I have said before is a very young 12 year old!!  He is amazing!  He flies up and down stairs with great speed.  I have also learned that he loves dogs of all sizes.  It seems as if they know how gentle he is and they are just drawn to him.  Our neighbor dogs didn't want him to leave!

Miller is a funny little guy.  He was only eating a little bit when he first came here.  We figured it was normal since he was adjusting.  Well, I left him alone and he bypasses his food that he came with and went right to my resident dog's food.  Maybe he just didn't like what he was eating!  Gobbled it down.  It could be too that he is very comfortable here now.  It is like he has been here for a lot longer than a few days.  Needless to say, we will start giving him what we give our resident girl.

He loves his tennis balls and especially his KONG!  He LOVES that thing. Even without any treats in it.

He also found an unusual toy in the cardboard of an empty aluminum foil box.  Trotted around for quite a while with that.  We did take it away right away though.  Cardboard is not an acceptable toy!  I have a picture attached.
Lastly, I have to mention what happened today while I was at work.  I baby gated him since it was the first time we were gone for the whole day.  Well, I came home and guess who was sleeping soundly in the family room on a dog bed?  Yep, our little Miller.  He was an angel!  No accidents.  I am not surprised though since I think he has always had free roam.  I guess it was my own fault for not securing the gate!!  I do think he has earned our trust and can now officially have free roam!

OK, one last thing that I love.  That boy loves to give kisses on your nose.  It is so endearing.  This boy is a gem!!

I also give a HUGE thank you to Missy and Mark M. for sponsoring this little guy!  I can't tell you how much we appreciate it!!
