Lucy crossed the bridge yesterday to live the ultimate golden life. She had not started to walk by age 3 weeks and we all started getting suspicious. She was evaluated by the vet and diagnosed with a vestibulochoclear disease. This is a birth defect that kept her feeling like she was spinning constantly. For that reason she had no coordination and with time it became painfully obvious she was never going to be able to walk. We did go to a surgeon for an opinion as to whether anything could be done. Unfortunately we could only wait and hope that she would develop some function through the amazing process of puppy development. She got cuter by the day and her mom Abby continued to feed her and clean up after her and we hand fed her as well as she was going through the weaning process. She just never showed any signs of improvement in her coordination. She did, however, bring smiles to everyone that met her. She gave us six weeks of love and memories that will last forever and we are so thankful for all she gave us and those around us. |

Getting bigger and cuter! Still not walking yet but her eyes are open. She has been going outside with mom to explore new things and is a great cuddler. She has had her nails trimmed a couple times and wasn't bothered by this. I'm sure mom appreciates this. Her mom has been able to get away for longer periods of time but she lets her know when she's ready to plug in again.
