Ranger 08-418

Profile

I know what you are thinking...who is this adorable boy? Well, my name is Ranger. I am an 88 lb, 10 month old, GR/Great Pyrenees mix. I was brought to a shelter in Iowa as a stray. Not too long after that a family saw how lovable I was and adopted me. Unfortunately, they had to return me to the shelter. They loved me very much, but their human kid developed an allergy to me. So, here I am. Ready and waiting for my forever family.

So, yeah I am only 10 months old, but I really don't act like a crazy puppy. Don't get me wrong. I love to play and I do have some puppy energy at times. But, I am actually a really mellow boy. I LOVE to go for walks, and if you have rollerblades, even better. I am very easy-going on the leash. After a little bit of exercise, I am pretty much a couch potato. There are three other dogs here and I have a great time with the one they call Sally. We wrestle and play and we have tons of fun together. There is also a cat here. I don’t pay any attention to him, but he is kind of boring. He doesn’t run around the house or anything! He just lays around the house and acts like he owns the place.

I have only been here with my foster family for a few days, but I am pretty comfortable here. Foster mom and dad have two human kids, ages 2 and 5. They are really nice to me and are always gentle when they pet me. Since I am so well behaved I get free roam of the house at night and also when they are gone during the day. I should confess though, I hate the kennel. I can actually break out of crates. No one knows how I do it. Shhh...it is a secret. Hey, I just don’t like small spaces. Since, I am a good boy when left out, my foster mom and dad don’t make me go in the kennel.

I like my foster family, but I am ready to settle into a permanent home. Please contact placement and let them know you want to meet me. I am planning on being at the RAGOM picnic on Sept. 20.

Keep an eye on my page, I will update you again after the fun weekend.

Updates

Sunday, September 28, 2008

Hi everyone. It is me, Ranger. Foster mom and dad have been so busy, that I decided to post my own update. AGAIN!! Where should I begin. Oh yeah...the RAGOM picnic. Foster mom and dad took me to the RAGOM picnic last Saturday. Did you all go? Wasn't it great fun? There were a lot of people there and a ton of other dogs. I loved it, because I got attention from all kinds of friendly people. They wanted to know all about me and some of them even came up to just pet me. It was awesome. All the fun made me so tired, I slept in the back seat of the car the whole way home.

So, in my last update, I wrote that I got free roam of the house when no one is home. Well, that has since changed. Now, don’t think I went and got all naughty or anything. Foster mom and dad just realized that I may not be, you know, mature enough for free roam quite yet. I chewed up a couple of sippy cups. Not too bad right? Hey, those kids shouldn’t leave those enticing plastic cups laying around anyway. So, I have been hanging out in my kennel when no one is home. I know, I said I hated it, but it actually isn’t too bad. Foster mom and dad have been working with me to help me enjoy my kennel. I have actually been going in my kennel to nap without anyone telling me to.

Other than that, not too much has changed for me. I am still having a blast wrestling and playing with the Dane girls here. I also love to go rollerblading with foster dad. (check out my pics) Rollerblading is fun and gets me tired pretty fast. So, if you like to run or rollerblade, then I am the dog for you. I also included pictures of the nice fire we had the other night. My foster family had something called marshmellows that looked very nummy that they were cooking over the fire. I was trying to look as sad as possible to get them to give me one, but no luck. Bummer.

So, If you have time, shoot placement an email and ask to see me. I can't wait to meet you.

Sincerely,

Ranger

See, one of my favorite things.  I love running and rollerblading.

Enjoying the relaxation by a calm fire

Please can I have a marshmellow??

They are so close...maybe if I look cute enough I will get one.
