Greetings from Grand Forks.
Well, not sure where to start. Simon is 2 years old and a really sweet purebred golden. He is excited and nosy, he needs to know where everyone is at all times, heaven forbid if someone should move during the night or rollover or snore, he has to get up and check out the situation to make sure everyone's okay... He is so silly. The first weekend he was with us we went to the lake, Simon loves to swim, he played catch or keepaway with the boys in the water and was swimming way out in the water. I made resident son throw the ball in because Simon was out there about 30 minutes and I was afraid his arms would fall off, needless to say he slept like a charm that night... He also pulled 13 yr old girl into the water off the end of the dock, she talks constantly and doesn't pay attention and sure enough Simon wanted to go for a swim and she had his leash on her arm and went in head first with him... it was the funniest thing too bad we didn't have that recorded for funniest videos... He also ran to the neighbors dock and decided to dive in off of it and swim over, he jumped about 10 feet off the dock and began swimming to our dock. He is definitely a water dog.
This past week he went to the vet, he has a tick disease called anaplasmosis, it's a tick disease that can and is being treated with antibiotics, he isn't contagious but he doesn't do well with the dosage, so we had to cut the dosage down and he will be on it a little longer than a month. When at the vet he was microchipped, had all of his shots and had one ear cleaned out. He sat like an angel, didn't move a muscle and was a true runway model. Everyone at the office fell head over heals in love with him including doc. Simon is just so sweet. Oh, he weighs 70 pounds but it must be pure muscle cause he doesn't have any fat on his body, he is really lean.
Simon has settled into our routine quite a bit lately, he knows that when the lights are out that means time to go to sleep and not play, however, he needs to sleep with a stuffed animal which he feels is a security blanket for him. He has many toys and dolls to play with and knows if something isn't his, such as a sock he can't play with it. He did help me do laundry last week, he decided he should help put the laundry away so he was bringing resident son's socks upstairs to me to be put away. cute ha...
Simon loves to play with resident golden and thinks Queen Winnie (our other foster) is his mother, she however doesn't want any part in the plan of Simon's .... Simon loves to snuggle and be close at night, he doesn't resource guard but he does growl when he is walking around with a toy because he wants you to play with him... He rides well in the car and gets along with everyone. He seems to think he is a lap dog and likes to sit on the computer chair while resident son is on the computer on son's lap... He is just so sweet.... He can shake hands, lay down, sit and bark with toys in his mouth. He knows his name, doesn't counter surf but likes to put his paws on the counter to see what I'm doing up there. I guess he is just curious. I like to think of him as that one chipmunk (Alvin), he is just so cute and sometimes mischevious when he wants to play with resident golden. He's silly Simon....
