Boy, do we have a real gem of a dog for you to meet! It is our pleasure to introduce you to Jewell. Jewell is a 6 year old, 67 lb, PB Golden. Jewell was loved very much by her previous family and they were very sad to have to let her go.
While I am sure Jewell is missing her family, she has adjusted to life here at the foster pad really well. She has been with us for a week now and she is such a sweet dog. Jewell is very mellow, laid back and just likes to hang out with the humans. She loves, loves, loves to be petted. If you are sitting in a chair or on the couch, she will come stand over your feet so you can rub her chest. In addition to a good belly rubbing, she also loves tennis balls. What Golden doesn't, right? Here is the catch, the ball has to be good and dirty (check out the pictures). Yum, Yum. She will fetch that ball for as long as you are willing to throw it. And if you decide that you have had enough, she will just stare intently at the ball, completely oblivious to anything else that is happening around her.
We have three dogs here and Jewell gets along great with them. She dosen't want to play or wrestle with them, but is just happy to hang out and be part of the pack. We also have a cat here and Jewell doesn’t pay any attention to him. Good dog! Jewell is, without a doubt, a family dog. She is extremely gentle with our two kids, ages two and five. She has full run of the house while we are gone and at night and has not had any problems. Jewell is very smart, obedient, and is respectful of us and our home. We absolutely love having her here.
Jewell went to the vet last week and she is completely up to date on all her shots. The poor girl did have to get several of her teeth pulled and a couple of her remaining teeth may need to be pulled, but we want to wait and see how they look in a few weeks. Her breath has improved ten- fold. Jewell's new family will have to brush her teeth daily. Also, she is not yet spayed. Jewell is either coming out of heat or on her way into it. The vet would also like to her to lose some weight before the surgery. So, she won't be available for adoption until after her spay. But, please don’t let that stop you from meeting this sweetie. The very minor and temporary bumps in the road will not keep her from her soon-to-be very lucky forever home! I cannot stress enough how sweet this girl is.
