Sargent 08-337

Profile

We would like to welcome Sargent into RAGOM. He is our 7th foster. He came in from South Dakota Wednesday night so we don't know him too well yet, but this is what I can tell you about him. He was found as a stray. The shelter called Rona, a RAGOM foster in Sioux Falls SD, and she picked him up and welcomed him into RAGOM. He went to a Temp Foster, Patty, and she took great care of him until he could come up to the cities. She had him neutered and vetted and a nice bath. I was very happy she did this for him and me.

Sargent is a PB golden male, 2-3 yrs old, deep red in color, 62 lbs, but with the help of some good food he will gain some weight quickly. He is pretty mellow for being so young. He loves to be petted. Loves to chase tennis balls and brings them back and lets you take them from his mouth very gently. Unlike my resident golden Timber that has lock jaw when it comes to taking something away from her - she's very stubborn. He is still recovering from his neuter a few days ago so I am trying to keep him low key. He met our resident golden Timber girl, she's 2 years old. She is being very hospitable, she shares her toys and her space. No problems he was a perfect gentleman.

We had a tough first night. He had a hard time settling down with a cone on trying to sleep. But the next night was so much better. He is eating well and is very happy having a nice bed to sleep in. No accidents in the house so we are hoping he is housetrained. He is a cuddle bug. I will be taking him for a walk tonight so we will see how he walks on a leash. He has good manners so I'm hoping he will be a good walking partner for some great family. He will be a great companion also. More to come when we know how he is with kids & cats. We will kid test him with the neighborhood kids. Oh, and he doesn't jump on the beds or furniture.

From Sargeant's forever family...

Sargeant has been doing very well in our home! He has really made a great addition to our family! He is a really playful dog. We have lots of play dates with other dogs, from little yorkie-poos to Goldens and Labs. We have done lots of things in the last nine months we've had him. We took him to an obedience class at a nearby humane society, and thankfully he graduated!!! His obedience has improved a lot. We also have gotten invisible fencing, which has helped alot too. We still have some fine tuning to do, but Sarge is really a great dog! He likes to follow me around alot, but when I'm not home Sarge follows my son around. There are two other things he likes alot, stuffed animals and bones! He never stops chewing on the bone until it's gone. Having 3 and 7 year old girls, you sure have a lot of stuffed animals! They have to keep them hidden so Sarge doesn't get them all slobbery (YUCK!) though he is pretty good at dropping them if you tell him to. He really is a sweet dog. When the Vet looks at him he barely flinches. We all love him lots!!!!!

This will be my final update on my foster Sargent. He has been a pleasure to foster. I have seen him come from being a little scared of new things to blossoming into a wonderful companion and a great playmate for my resident golden Timber. Like they say, it takes a couple of weeks for dogs to open up and feel comfortable. Well that's what was happening for Sargent - he was becoming a true happy golden and I feel very good about that. I am glad I could help him.

We had him 2 weeks and we saw a couple of families but they just weren't the right match for my Sargent.

We went to the PetCo event in Richfield on Saturday July 12 and saw many families that were interested in him. I know he is very special, we fell in love with him right away. If we could have kept him we probably would have, but then I would have been done fostering because I can't handle more than 2 young dogs. So I feel I can help more dogs in need if I let him go. But I know in my heart he will do better having his own forever home where he can enjoy all the attention for himself.

So I would like to say Thank You to RAGOM for taking in this wonderful golden named Sargent. And a special thanks to Rona & Patty for helping him find his way to me.

We had a family very interested in him on Saturday and on Sunday they came and visited and on Monday they called to tell me they would Sargent to join their family if I approved. Well I did and there was a perfect match.

Sargent went to his forever home on Tuesday. We will miss him. Enjoy your new life Sargent. Live the golden life you were meant to with the "K" family.

Love,
Foster Mom & Dad & resident golden Timber

Foster Mom said I can do my own update today. I am so happy to be loved by a family again and have a playmate with my girlfriend Timber, did I tell you she's a blondie and she's young like me. So I have been hanging here since last week and life is good. I eat all the food I want . I even try and eat Timbers if she leaves any in her bowl. We like to play tug of war. We take turns winning. I am a good boy no accidents in the house so I can say I am  housetrained. Foster mom likes that. I got the all clear from Dr. V last night  she said all looks good after my neuter and ear infection.  I haven't seen any cats so I'm not sure if I like them or not. I do like to chase bunnys if I see them, but I can't get to them because theres a fence in the way. Boy are they lucky because I'm quick. I like all the petting and belly rubs that I am getting. Sometimes Timber lets me enjoy all the petting cause she's off chasing her balls & friesbes . Sometime I go and sneek them away when shes not looking a nd the chase in on. Foster mom says I'm a tease. But then Timber does the same thing . I enjoy going for walks and I'm pretty good on a leash too.Foster mom says I'm a great walker haha Timber.  I enjoy being outside and laying under the shade tree and just watching things go by. I don't like the vaccum cleaner so when I see foster mom come out with it I run to a differnt room but then I peek around the corner to see what's going on. I don't mind the airplanes or cars  or storms .  I have no seperation issues when mom goes to work although I do get PB in my bone with treats but I still try and run out of the room before she closes the door. I want to go with .  But then she calls me back in. I have my own room cause Timber and I would run all over the house and foster mom would be upset coming home from work to find a messed up house.  She says 2 big dogs can't run all day when there's no one home.  Oh well life has rules.  So life is good for me and I am living the golden life now. I am good with kids and dogs  both female and male. I met foster moms grand dog champ he growled  at me cause I wanted to be petted by foster mom. But then  he was fine . I got the message wait my turn. I would like a yard with a fence to run in but its not a must. When you go in I like to go also. I would also like kids to play with and cuddle because I like to be by people . I would like a fur brother or sister to play with but I can be a only dog too because then I would get all the attention. I would like to go to dog parks if I am the only dog cause I like to play and I would need exercise. I haven't  been swimming yet because I just got neutered and now I can get wet. So I get another bath. Foster mom says she going to take timber & me to the lake and go swimming. I sure hope I like it. Timber is a great water dog.Well I have to get ready for Petco on Saturday.  I am ready for adoption and my forever home to live the golden life I was meant to foster mom says. Foster mom says I'm a Keeper and I won't be around long.So if you are interested in meeting me contact your placement advisor. Tata for now Love, Sargie
