Champ 08-334

Profile

Champ made it to Grand Meadow without much difficulty. He is a beautiful dog that is very shy. Right now he is also being treated for ear infections in both ears. He doesn't seem to be bothered with any ear pain. Our first night with Champ we let him sleep in our bedroom where our other dogs sleep. This was still scary for him so he paced all night long. His second night passed without difficulties as we left him in his crate. It worked great! This is a dog that will need to be placed with another dog to help boost his confidence. He is also great with kids that are a bit older. Our daughter is 9 and Champ loves to play with her. Champ is very nervous if you make sudden movements around him, but he is house trained and has not had any accidents so far in the house. We will start taking more steps with Champ this week and look forward to keeping you all updated.

Champ is a puppy mill rescue that we were lucky enough to adopt through RAGOM in August of 2008. He has come such a long way in learning to be a Happy dog. For such a long time, he felt he had only two “safe” places in our home and getting him in and out through doorways was a major undertaking each and every time and would almost constantly drool due to his nervousness.  When inside the house, he did not know how to play. Boy, that has all changed now! He is a Happy, loving sweetie who has learned that he loves to be with us where ever we may be more than his fear of trying new places and activities so even though sometimes still, his fearfulness is an obstacle, he overcomes!  I remember the first time we took him swimming in a lake, he had no idea what to do! With encouragement he would only go in the water a few inches deep. Now, as one of the pics show- he absolutely LOVES the water like a Golden. Even the cold water of Lake Superior!! The other picture is Champ looking into our neighbors yard, waiting for his buddy, Hemingway the cat to come over to the fence to play.  They spend many happy times visiting each other at the fence. Thanks again to RAGOM for giving us the opportunity to love this very special boy.
