Sandy 08-282

Profile

Sandy is a beautiful lady of 13. Although she is a bit overweight (like 20#), that body can leave the ground when she sees her leash. Some days we walk nice and slooow, some days I 'power walk' to keep up.

Our trip to the vet was pretty uneventful...unless you can picture the vet struggling to get this chunk on the exam table!!! As her family had taken excellent care of her, she just needed the annual shots and microchip. Her blood tests will be back in the next few days. She is a bit afraid of storms, but she has several spots to hide. Once in her safety zone, off to sleep she goes and snores follow shortly!

Fostering a senior is an honor. They know what is and is not acceptable, like to keep their humans in sight, nap often and are ready to travel anytime. Sandy does not need another dog, but she is more than tolerant of the 2, 3 and 5 year old Goldens here. If you would like the privilege of meeting a wonderful lady, please let placementatragom [dot] org know.

In every way possible, Sandy is just perfect.  Today we went downtown for a fall celebration, of sorts.  Children and adults seem drawn to Sandy and she is so gracious accepting the attention.  She makes a GReat ambassador for RAGOM.

Sandy here.  I hope you love my latest pictures...especially since FM had me going around the neighborhood trying to find the perfect background.  I wanted to tell FM that no background was even needed, as I would be perfect on a bed of rocks.I have been spending more time outside with the cooler weather.  And that way I can keep my eyes on the other dogs...so they will stay out of trouble.  Kids these days just don't know how to play without messing things up.  Why just yesterday, they tipped over a plant in the living room, the second time this week.  Yep, had the carpet cleaned just 2 weeks ago!   I have seen FM happier.Speaking of FM and the other dogs, I hear them in the kitchen, and that can only mean one thing SUPPER!  Gotta go

Am I ever sorry for not updating you more regularily.  With going to work with FM on Sats. (she thinks that I keep her from stressing), keeping the youngsters (the 3 furbutts living with me) out of trouble, and my expanding exercise program, I don't have much time left over.I have a funny story to tell you.  The other day, FM was trimming dog nails and I was BORED.  No one wanted to play with me.  So I did a really smart thing...I sat down right on Grayson's head!   In case you didn't know, he is my 3 yr old Golden buddy.  Well I got his attention and after he grunted, wiggled and struggled, we played.  Heck, I think he was afraid not to!!  I am an old dog, teaching new tricks. The expanded exercise schedule is that I get to go for 3 shorter walks daily.  If I walk more than around the block, my hips ache and then I get lazy.  This morning it was still dark, and FM and I liked the quiet.Take care of yourself and your family.SandyWould like to verify that the above statements are true.FM

I don't know what to do with FM!!! She doesn't turn on her computer until I go to bed...DUH, I don't have thumbs to turn it on! But she just went outside, so I will update you on my life.

First, it is hard to be angry with FM as she never forgets to talk to me, kiss me, feed me good food, and take me swimming or walking. Now that Kaylee 08-326 is here, I have one more friend. I did teach her how to swim this summer so she thinks of me as her role model. Our walks are fun but I just can't go so far anymore. Few blocks out, few blocks back. Hey, I am 13 and do know when to stop. FM understands so I understand when she takes the others for longer walks...but Sasha or Grayson will stay behind to keep me company.

Storms still freak me out, but I have a bed in the bathtub, and never get sooooo scared anymore. Resident Grayson will sleep in the bathroom with me as he likes the thunder, or so he said. FM could not understand why I was camera shy...it is like lightening!!!! She now waits until I am outside.

As a young pup, I was put on a diet. I am STILL on a diet and can't seem to drop those last 20#. Guess you have to love me the way I am...everyone that knows me does.

As you can see, I have been working on another project with FM. This time, we made a brick path to the front steps...and it took me (okay, us) several hot days to finish. What would FM do without me? What did she do without me? I am glad that I can be of help.

I continue to swim whenever possible. My vet said that it is one of the best forms of exercise for me. If that is what it takes to get into shape, then I am all for that! Speaking of the vet, my blood tests came back and everything is within normal range. Not bad for a lady of 13, huh? Keeping a good attitude helps. Each day is a gift and I welcome it with joy.

Children make me happy...babies are real special. A human to talk to me is required. A safe place to hide from storm is necessary. Car rides are better than treats. Brushing takes away all stress for you and me. If I don't need to go potty, I see no reason to go outside, unless you are going, too. Just because I am not young, doesn't mean I can't fill your life with a warmth only a Golden can share.

Sandy here from the wonderful state of IOWA! Truthfully, I can't tell one state from another...everywhere I go, it rains and there are storms. The rain is okay, but that thunder or lightening is just not something I care for. As you can see from the pictures, I do my part to keep the house and car clean. We adults know how to keep peace in the family.

One morning when FM was leaving for work, she told us to have our suits on when she got home...we were going swimming! I even had a towel ready. The water was wonderful and I just could not get enough. The resident fur butts made FM throw a 'dummy' (no NOT Grayson) so they could swim after it, but not me. You see, since I am older, I know that I have to pace myself. The slower I swim, the longer I can swim. Smart, huh?

My weight is still a battle. But now that FM found out I was eating my breakfast and Grayson's, I will no doubt slim down. Our evening walks get longer and longer the stronger I get. My favorite walks are the ones we drive to...I need a change of scenery from time to time.

FM wants me to tell you that I am one of her favorite fosters. Duh, we knew that, right? I love little children, tiny puppies and food. I really do not need a leash, as I walk right next to my friends. I might be old, but life has a lot left for me to discover...and always with a smile.

Come see me sometime, hear.
